Ryūjin or Ryōjin (龍神, "dragon god"?), also known as Ōwatatsumi, was the tutelary deity of the sea in Japanese mythology. This Japanese dragon symbolized the power of the ocean, had a large mouth, and was able to transform into a human shape. Ryūjin lived in Ryūgū-jō, his palace under the sea built out of red and white coral, from where he controlled the tides with magical tide jewels. Sea turtles, fish and jellyfish are often depicted as Ryūjin's servants.
Ryūjin was the father of the beautiful goddess Otohime who married the hunter prince Hoori. The first Emperor of Japan, Emperor Jimmu, is said to have been a grandson of Otohime and Hoori's. Thus, Ryūjin is one of the ancestors of the Japanese imperial dynasty.

beautiful, so full of nice details, like swirling mane, and the turtle nibbling on it's master's fingerclaw... love the face, too, looking so serious, so stern at the viewer. although I sense a little smile...

Very cool mythology. It reminds me of a legend that the grandfather of Charlemagne said all the time. Charlemagne's grandfather stated that his right to rule and his great power and abilities come from the fact that he is a direct descendant of a great sea god by whom was also a great dragon. If I am not mistaken, the look of this dragon god is like the look of a water dragon from Dungeons and Dragons game books. I am serious by the way and I am not balderdashing.
But I digress. This is a most wonderful painting and you most certainly have excellent talent.
