Bonus question!!!
__________________________________________________________________________
There was once a man. A man, whose ferocity has shook all of the land, and far beyond it. Wherever he went, the first to know of him would run to every house, and tell it to every neighbor they knew, who then told it to the next neighbor, and so on. The kingdoms would shake at the mere mention of his name, and the kings would hide in fear. The elements of nature held no power over him, nor did the most ferocious of beasts would dare to battle him. If he had ever been given a bleak future, he would laugh it off and welcome the challenge. He was the most well-known of warriors. He was…
“Oh could you just shut your mouth!!!” Said one of the patrons to the storyteller. The latter, of course, did not take interruption well.
“And as I said,” He continued with his story, much to dismay of others in the bar, “this man, has toppled empires in his earliest youth-“
“Shut up!” Again, the same patron yelled, though this time he threw a bottle at the back of the head of the storyteller. It broke against his skull, though he barely flinched, had made him finally pay attention.
“When a man tells a story,” The storyteller said, as he stood from his chair. “one has to listen. Unless you are up to get floored, worm!”
The man moved from his table and walked towards the interrupter, displaying his full-size to the guests. Not only did he stood over seven feet, but his shaggy hair and bulk only added to the immensity of his size. Surprisingly, this did not deter the other guests, and in presence of him, they only laughed.
“Do you truly wish start a war here, you rats?!” He bellowed, but one of them, specifically the young man who had interrupted him so many times, stood from his chair.
“Do you want to settle this in a fight?” He said to the giant of a man. The rest of the patrons in the bar looked at the scene with curiosity. This included the barman and a young “person” whom he was talking to. The latter bit her lip in frustration to the event.
“I’ll crush you to dust…” The man growled, showing his sharpest teeth to the contestant.
“You’re on.”
20 minutes later…
Down on the street, laid a giant figure, his face kissing the ground. Barely moving from his spot, he is suddenly approached by a much more petite figure than himself. This “person” leaned towards the lying behemoth, and poked him, checking if he was awake. After a while, he finally answered with a groan, as he saw this “person”, recognizing him immediately.
“You took quite a beating, eh?” Said the young man, as he laughed at the so-called “fiercest man alive”.
Hefting himself to a sitting position, the giant simply scoffed at the latter’s jab.
“He had his friends help him at that fight.”
The young man did not consider making another joke, as he saw the solemn eyes of this fierce beast.
“Your age is showing.” She suddenly said. In response, the beast did not answer, but instead gave a deep sigh. Both were simply sitting, side to side, within the darkness of the night, with only the moon shining on top of them.
“I have…nowhere else to go…” The beast said. “I have never made home anywhere. I have lost so much that I never considered making something new out of my life.”
The companion nodded in agreement, but mostly to keep her friend talking.
“All of the friends I knew have left me, or have died before I ever met them. After that war, I don’t think I ever reached the power I once had. All I have known is now gone.”
The streets were silent, despite the bar being not too far off from them.
“Every… every decision I made, all made it worse for me in the end. I… I have no idea, what to do?” His voice, deep and growly, carried a defeated tone. The companion simply sat there, listening to her friend, and only slowly considering how to help him.
Suddenly, he pushed himself up. “I am going.” He said.
“Where?” Asked the “person”.
The beast-man had no other words. As he was about to move away…
“I can talk to Fae.” The “person” said to him, stopping him in mid-step. It’s been a long time since he heard that name.
“But don’t you think that, he would never…”
“Let me try. Just for you, this one time.” The man said to his beast companion, who was at loss of words. Suddenly, he gave him a toothy grin.
“You really going to help me out here like that?”
“Always for you, Zaund.”
Both have smiled. No matter the years, some things thankfully never change.
