heavily inspired by a tiny little drawing in an ancient map of slesia (by Martin Helwig, 1561) of Rübenzahl in a demonic shape, residing in the Riesengebirge mountian area in eastern germany. the wikipedia entry has a lot of nice info about that guardian spirit and the many fairytales around him.
so... have a skull-faced long-toothed demonic stag-spirit. he's not as evil as he looks... maybe.
update: added a skullface close-up. the base is european red stag, with added wolf teeth. or somethign resembling them.

thank you. the image I used did have such a heraldic look. the original must have been the size of a fingernail. :)
the original Rübezahl hated that name, preferred "lord of the mountains" or any other respectful adress. also, be nice, don't destroy everything, don't be greedy. though many stories seem to indicate a bipolar personality, but overall on the nice side of things. until you try to scam him or are disrespectful. :)
not sure what personality this individual will have. maybe about the same. we'll see. ^^

quite possible. based on a tiefling for example. maybe mixed with a druid of some sort, and some gentle tweaking of rules... then again if the rules stand in the way of fun, change them. ;)
Here, another guy who draws Christmas demons. ) I was engaged in similar.
But it turned out very atmospheric and beautiful! ! I will need to read more about him!

everybody should get a demon for christmas. :)
thank you! maybe there will be more about him to write about, who knows. :)

What an awesomely accomplished pose, and it really shows how you studied the skull to really pull this one off. I’m impressed!
...also this guy is the stuff of nightmares

only to those who are greedy and destroy the nature of his mountains, or are unlikable at all. ;)
the upper left pose is derived from the original tiny drawing, which reminsces heraldic poses apparently. the rest is my fault.
thank you!

and further east. seems like many tribes mixed their legends into it, including Südtirolian mountaineers.
that's right, and they have their own Rübezahl legends as well.:)
the original, very tiny, scribble from the map I used for the first image had that poleaxe, and it seemed too natural to leave it out. though it had a way smaller blade, hard to say with a quill scribble not meant to be accurate. :)
