Trying to do that 100 theme art meme. This is 22. Mother. The list is on my DA page.
One of the most heart wrenching scenes in all animation for me. Way before Mufasa died...there was...this. Saw this with my dad way back when, was actually the first animated film I saw in theaters. I loved it, yes, but eh...yeah. This part...there was a lot of boohoo. I also boohoo'd when Sharptooth died and argued with my dad afterwards that he could swim even with his tiny arms. Yes, I cried because the T-rex died. I REALLY like T-rex. LOL
Spawned from seeing a 34 on the movie on here somewhere...which, made me sad and want to watch it. And then I watched it...and BAAAWW...yeah. Shup.
Lemme kill you some more with the ending theme, which I listened to non-stop while doing this...and kept me in ETERNAL TEARS. Sometimes I get way to emotional with my art...maybe that's how I stab the emotion into them...

Beautiful portrayal of the scene ;3; You put such detail in with the inking, as usual your inks are love <3
I remember watching it with my cousin, Danielle and sobbing over it at age 6-ish. I've known the words of that Diana Ross song since then and I sing it in the shower to this day, almost daily. :B

Hehe, it's such a beautiful song...and like, I dunno, brings me back the, well, back when times when stuff was a lot easier I guess you could say. AH YOUTH. And good animated movies...
Thank you very much, as well. <3 Guh I can't even remember how old I was...but i'm sure if I looked up when it came out i'd know...lol.

Silly Duckie, and damn Nostalgia! I guess it's good though. Hehehe.

The thing I loved most about those movies (apart from the egg stealers, those guys are awesome) was how you could always predict what was going to happen because everything that was going to move was drawn entirely differently.
There go my heartstrings getting all tugged on. Very dynamic piece! Beautifully captures the mood of the scene.

You and me both, LBT was one of my favorite animated movies.
You and me both, LBT was one of my favorite animated movies.
Thank you very much. :) I am glad I got it to portray such, it seems to have brought out a lot for people. It is one of the best scenes and sad ones from that time. I miss the good old stuff that did this.
Ya just don't see touching stuff like this anymore...not from art or the full movies.
OH GOD I'M SORRY! And yes, THE MEMORIES! Ahh...good, sad, memories...
FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU

OMG this is heartbreaking but sooo spot on its fantastic! Great job! I love your Dinos :3
Haha, I think so if it was the one with Cera. But it's all right, that is what 34 is for. XD
This was the saddest moment in LBT, Always make me cry.
Beautiful Piece of art Hon.
Beautiful Piece of art Hon.
Oh gosh, same. Weep times happened every time, even before the scene hit my eyes were getting watery, hehe.
And thank you. :)
And thank you. :)
Hey Hon ive just noticed, If this was to be movie accurate, Wouldn't Mothers, skin color be more Brown. Grandma and Grandpa Where the gray ones.
One of the very few movie scenes that made me cry in the theater as a child.
Same, same...but it was good. I think kids now a days wouldn't get it...which makes me sad. But oh well...there is all ways that memory.
I was obsessed with this movie when I was a kid. And yes, the sequals ended up pissing me off more than anything else.
Haha, oh yes...I was...when I first heard about a Sequel I was excited really...I was like "OHYAYLBT" then like...yeah.
Well, truthfully the second one WASN'T that bad to me, because it brought more to the Sharpteeth then just HEYLETSMURDEREVERYONE but...eh...after that it went really really URRRRGH...

Littlefoot what big claws you have ._.;;;;;;;;;;;;
For me, this hear really didn't hit me as much as Mufasa's death did. I dunno XD I mean it's TERRIBLY sad but Mufasa's death can really bring the tears outta me. But this makes me cry you draw it so perdy <3

Haha, had to give him claws...ish...they aren't that bad though. XD
And hehe, I cried on Mufasa's death too, but I saw that when I was older...This was the first thing I remember seeing that made me really realize what death was as a kid...I was probably around 6-7 I think...but yeah. It was years ago.
And thank you. :)

Extremely well done, an instant fav... and you've given me the urge to watch it again.
Thank you very much, and hehe, I think I might have done that for a few people unintentionally...but hey, it's for the good old memories. It's all good. :)
I remember this being the saddest animated death I ever saw as a little girl. Nicely done
Thank you very much, and yes, I agree wholeheartedly with you there.
Really lovely, you did this so perfectly. I LOVED this movie when I was little, and I agree, the first one was THE BEST one. Damn Disney getting carried away with their crappy-happy cheap sequels trying to squeeze as much money from a good thing as possible until everyone hates it because they can't just let something go... I think they still make movies for this don't they? Bet their on their thirtieth movie now.
Thank you very much! And yees, was one of my favorites too of my youth. Gotta miss the old movies that were, well, pretty hard core.
And haha, I have no idea...I know they even had a mini series on CN for a bit though...lol
And haha, I have no idea...I know they even had a mini series on CN for a bit though...lol
BAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAW ;.; This was my ultimate favorite childhood movie. I think this part made me sad every damn time. Great artwork hun!
Thank you very much! And yes...ahhh, the memories and SADNESS! Good stuff, though, good.
Wonderful movie that was ruined by the 46 animated sequals. Well potrayed!
Thank you! And yeeeah...sooo many sequels...ahh, but that's about all 2d movies is good for now a days, which makes me sad. Still, there is the new Disney Movie...I hope that makes me happy when I see it, haha.
thats song is really sad, break ma heart.....and more with this pic TT..TT
aww I miss the original Land before time >.>
This is amazing
This is amazing
Thank you! And yes, me too...haha, was lucky enough to grab it while at Walmart along with American Tail and Balto.
Thank you, and yes-as it should! Hehe, good times back then. Even when sad.
I agree with you about this scene, wow.
God, you make me miss this movie; luckily I own it and can watch it whenever. Hooray for my pile of VHS tapes, and hooray for this. This is great, and captures the emotion of that scene excellently. Good work.

Thank you very much. :) And guh, wish I still had all the tapes I used to have...ended up grabbing the movie at Walmart though, so, it's all good. then boohoo'd a bit as I watched it. Guh, nostalgia...
A gorgeous scene, even if it is high up there on the emotions...it is enhaunced by that.
And it's such a sad thing that so many modern animated films will never have anything nearly as emotional as this scene was. The original Land Before Time, still has to be one of my all time favorite movies, and you gave it justice with this picture. Absolutely beautiful... You rock!
Don Bluth would be proud!
Don Bluth would be proud!
Awww, thank you so much for that! And Woo Don Bluth! I miss all that stuff so bad, the animation was just so beautiful.
And I agree...but eh, I guess it's a sign of the times with the animated films. Maybe we will be proven wrong one day though.
And I agree...but eh, I guess it's a sign of the times with the animated films. Maybe we will be proven wrong one day though.
I haven't seen this film for yeeeaaars! Now you gone and made me sniffle again! CURSE YOU! <3
Haha, I apologize! XD Now go watch it and WEEP FOREVERS! Or, atleast for a few. XD
good lord! this is utterly amazing! you did such a great job on this! and the rain and the water and ugh....so awesome >8[
D'aw thank you! :) I had to make a brush manually for the rain...I was actually shocked I got it, LOL. But yes...guh, sadness!
wow that sounds like it took awhile :3 you did a good job though getting the rain effect right :D you should get a gold star for something like that.
6.6 *sighs* I remember this scene too... and I cried too.
Yeah, it's one of those really strong ones-even before it got to it while I was watching it yesterday I was preparing for it to hit, but it didn't work! And the bawling began. @_@
I still get slightly misty-eyed when this scene comes on.
Oh Em Gee, I can't believe you did Littlefoot fanart. OFIEA;JFID;jdka;fjdia;fjeia;jcie;fjiea;jfdk;fa.
IT'S SUCH A GOOD MOVIE! IT DESERVED SUCH! DON'T MAKE ME BAWL! DUN DUN MAKE ME
You wait, I just might dip even further and do some Babar the movie fan art for this theme. I SO LOVED POMPADOUR. Or however you spelled his name...
LOLOLOL. AHAHAHAHA...god. I am glad someone knows what i'm talking about.
AS LONG as it is NOT dirty Babar fanart, I think I can handle it. LOL
LOLOLOL omg, something that would horrify you? And nah...I don't...I don't think I could stoop that low. That's like me drawing dirty art of Land Before Time...there is just, some things I can't touch...LOL
Well.. THat's true; I did draw some LOLPowerpuffgirls fanart about MojoJojo and HIM...
Oh my god ; ; Just looking at this wrenches my heart!! I loved this movie so damn much when I was a kid (and you are right, the original is the best!) and I remember crying like a baby when I saw this scene.
Oh gosh, me too. Hehehe, ah, good stuff when movies could do that, especially animated movies. GO go original LBT!
Awww, you should check it out sometime then. It's a good one.
Wow! Amazing work! You really captured the intensity of the moment.
awwww sadd.. this used to make me cry every time when I was a kid!!
It's the ruiner of happy children everywhere, but, made them stronger I hope in some way. I know I boohoo'd for a while after, and still do. >_>; Hehe
Yeah... They sorta ruined it mostly with all those many musical scenes in the continuations... Killed the originality mostly...
Good to remember it, and that so many people boohoo'd like I did as well. Hehe.

Haha, ah I don't know...people wanted to make money and stupid musicals. Let the weeping begin.
!!!
I loved this movie and this scene also makes me tear up. D: Man, I miss good animated films. You did a really nice job capturing the scene. Emotions and all!

This made me unbelievably happy, gorgeous art and knowing someone else found this scene as heartwrenching as I did ahah!
Thank you very much! And yees, ah gosh. This scene is forever burned in my memory because of the weeping it brought forth, but it seems to hit the spot for so many others as well.
one of the best childhood movies ever. That scene always makes me cry :( very well done!
First animated movie that made me cry. I love this movie so much.
You and me both on that, hehe. Though I might have cried on something else...but as far as the first movie I saw in a theater...this one wins.
Bambi, maybe? :P That was the second for me I think. Maybe Dumbo.
Aww this is AMAZING that was such a sad scene, I loved the original movie the rest of them all what 6 or 7 of them now @.@ all dumb but the first original one was the best! And this is a wonderful piece well done :)
Thank you very much! And yes, so many sequels! Ahh...depressing as it is. One of the best scenes ever from animation.
Hells yeah, and i rmember being amazed at the blood and violence in that movie and the the rest of them is all sunshine and lolli's XD so laaame, but yeah the first movie was the best.
i seaw one time in YOUTUBE about Diana Ross talking a little about the song "If we hold on together" and then she sing the song in live, she have a full tears in the middle of the song, "oh man", she finish the song, she put all the feeling to the song, DIANA ROSS RULZ!, one of my best female disco singers =)
ffffffffff I love that song. An I hadit in y head forever. Now it's just louder.
... I almost cried when I saw this in my box. ;.; I remember this and it is soo sad. aww I am crying now and I tried so hard not to.
Too bad the sequels had to brutally rape it...
...like TEN times...
...like TEN times...
I was a little girl and loved dinosaurs, but when I saw that one scene I was about six/seven and I just wanted to cry my eyes out and hug my mommy so tight *sniffs* Seeing this just makes me feel like a kid again.
Oh man it's been a long time since I cried listening to a song, thanks this brought back some fond memories.
This was one of my favourite movies as a kid.
They just don't show kids the darker side of life anymore in films.
I still get sniffly when Littlefoot's mum dies, and Rooter's speech.

Very nice! I really like the edgey, more realistic look to it, and you did really well with capturing the emotion in the scene.

*Brb crying forever*
but yeah..it's sad Sharptooth died..but he was so pimpin' :U
As a child I liked the sequels tho...but stopped to watch after the 7th cose it was becoming shitty °__° now it's worse than ever...
The original will remain the BEST for sure <3

Gah, I remember this...Wish I could say I still had the VHS, but it went out with ALL the ones my grandmother had (LIEK OVER NINE THOUSAND)...
I loved the original movie....but each of the sequels just got worse and worse and continued to dumb down dinosaurs for progressively dumber children. :[

Truely amazing! So much emotion in this and everytime I watch The Land Before Time...yeah it chokes me up. You really did an amazing job...heh pretty moved over this. Wonderful-Wonderful-Wonderful!
oh wow...this is so touching....been awhile since I seen the movie
That song & this picture really brings back a whole load of memories when I was a child. I mean, I always used to watch The Land Before Time when I was a kid & remember that exact same scene, when Littlefoot was talking with his dying mother before he started making his journey to the Great Valley. And then at the ending, with the credits, that song played. It's a really great song. I really loved the series when I was a kid, I loved the song, & I love this picture. Excellent job on this pic.
Great pic! It makes me realize that its been to long since I've seen the good one.
There is a place in my heart where this movie will always live. A great part of who I am today was due to the role models I gained from the first "Land Before Time".

Argh... I need to see this film again.
I watched it 1st time when I was 4, couldn't bring myself to watch it again until I was 16 and now it's been a few years since then.

*Sniffs.* one of the only things that ever made this cold heart-ed dragon cry, was seeing that scene.
".maybe that's how I stab the emotion into them..."
I couldnt help but lol xD

my bf and I rewatched the movie recently and both were glancing at eachother around this scene to see if either of us we're going to cry.
Beautiful scene from a beautiful movie.
I kinda feel like they ruined the epicness of the first with all the ridiculous sequels, but honestly I still watched a few of the sequels because, come on, dinosaur cartoons. Those are rare as hell.
And yeah... the whole "T-Rex can't swim with those tiny arms" was kind of fail logic because I mean, crocodilians swim just fine without using their arms.

OMG i remember this from my childhood ive always loved little foot when i was small, but this film was the best and when i saw this bit i was all emotional, (sniffle) touching moment, brings tears to my eyes. and yeah the poor T.rex, very well drawn love it ^^
I really am sad that the movies went for happy and blissful toward the end, the first one carried such an emotion weight; the later ones just didn't recapture it with their "paradise threatened" themes.
it looks like a trace of the original only done in a different style, a style that in my opinion, isn't very good for this picture
the reason i'm making such a big deal out of this is because you're the first person to do fanart of this particular scene, and you butchered it. thanks for butchering my childhood.
you can block me now.

Huh? Lol, I didn't even see this comment until today, but I am sorry you felt that way, but eh. It's not that big of a deal really, we all don't share the same opinions on art and what is to be used as a style for particular pieces. That is why it is called fan art.
I don't really think you trolled, quite honestly, just gave your opinion. Which again, is quite all right. You are the only one here that apparently has a problem with it, but i'm not going to judge you or anything for that.
I used the original scene as reference, did not copy/trace. I wanted to see how it would look with my dinosaurs, and thus, did it. I am sorry your childhood has been butchered by way of digital art.
Take care!

a trace? Wow. All of the art on FA you could troll, and it hat to be one of the better ones?
Please post with your real account so art can be compared before claiming someone "butchered" something. Then you'll at least have some credibility on this. Until then, plz stay under bridge, troll. :)

i don't draw. you don't need to be an artist to have an opinion, and in my opinion she butchered it, at least when compared to the original.
Then explain how she butchered it if it was a trace. >.>
Honestly, if you expect your opinion to mean anything, you should comment when you are on an account that has been on FA longer than a month or two.. otherwise that just screams out unthinking troll..

I just got this on DVD, James Horners music to this is a tear jerker definately. First time seeing it in like 15 years, James Horner's music is what made me strugle to hold back the tears..bleh, remembering it is misting my eyes right now. Beautifully captured in this picture, can even hear it...*lets Horners music speak for himself* <3
You captured it perfectly. Kudos to you! And yes, it's THE best. Unlike all the crap they've pumped out since the original. What is it up to now.. LBT 10?
I love the lighting and the attention to detail. <3 <3

I can't stand watching this film, it's just too sad.
This is the saddest scene ever I actually cried when i watched it

Land before time :) I used to pretend I was Cera when I was a little kid. hehe, I was strange
Most heartbreaking thing about TLBT to me was that the little girl who provided Ducky's voice died shortly after the movie was filmed, I think her dad killed her. :(
And Elizabeth Hartman committed suicide a while after providing Mrs. Brisby's voice in The Secret of NIMH; she got too famous early in her career and had trouble adjusting to mixed reviews later in life. The stories behind the lives of the people who make these films are often more powerful than the films themselves.

Wow...I didn't even know that. On either of those. That is really depressing...but interesting to know but still disheartening. :(
Mufasa died: I cried.
Bambi's Mother gets shot: I cried.
Littlefoot's Mother dying after fighting to protect her only child: I bawled.
And I still do.
This is a beautiful portrayal of a scene that always leaves me choking on my snot and wiping away tears.
I get teary eyed just looking at this image. ; A;

Man. This is a great rendition of a powerful scene. Love it.
In the lion king, Mufasa assassination and death was the saddest moment, for the Land Before Time it was Littlefoot's Mother's death that was the most saddest moment of them all.
