Hey everybody! It's been a bit but finally got something!
Made this story almost a year back and left it, finally got motivated to come back to it and rework it almost complete… like to think it benefited from that.
But first things first, this picture above is by the wonderful KaeMantis so if you like it please go fav the original here.

Now then, this story is about my passimian Keiki… though you might be fooled to think Petie is the only star judging by this chapter. I assure you, my mini monkey passimian will be the focus with Petie as the co-star… along with several other passimians (a troop of passimian? A team of passimian? What is the right plural for that… though a team of them is quite accurate~)… have I mentioned I really like Passimian? Anyway hope you enjoy this chapter ^,^
With that being said please fav & comment and have a nice day ^__^

Petie had expected his free period for the day to be uneventful. For once the teddiursa didn't have anybody to spend the time with. Rose was busy, Jules was busy, Cody was busy, Andrew was busy, Toni was busy… all the people he'd usually hang out with (or would come find him) were busy. This left Petie listlessly wandering the halls debating what to do, hoping something would come up so he wouldn't have to spend a full hour like this-
"Get back here ya' lil' brat!"
Considering his background with stories and fiction he should have remembered "Be careful what you wish for" before that thought had crossed his mind. The thunks of stone feet on tile were still close behind him despite him doing his best to outdistance the boldore guy chasing him. He'd run into this jerk more than once in the past and if Rose or somebody else didn't save him it always ended with the creep tormenting him for his own amusement. At least until he got bored and shoved the teddiursa in the nearest locker or trash can. He'd been hoping to leave that kinda treatment back at his old school!
Pumping his short legs as fast as he could manage Petie was more than aware he wasn't getting away like this. He'd run this race too many times before and the result never changed. Ever 5 steps he took was 1 of the bullies (if he was lucky). It was time to try and consider other options and FAST. He could hide behind somebody, try to put on the cutesy act and get them to protect him like he used to… but the few people in the hall didn't look like they cared about the chase in the slightest. Also Petie somehow found the idea too degrading to seriously consider even if he used to do it constantly before he came to the PCA.
Which left option two. Get out of sight and hide till the guy passed by! Rounding the corner in a full sprint the teddiursa caught sight of a push-to-open door in his peripheral vision. Not bothering to take the time to look up and see what the door actually went Petie hurled his body into the door with all his momentum… praying his little plushie body could actually force it open. Luck was on his side as the door open smoothly for him. Spinning on his heels, and grateful to his ballet lessons that he didn't fall, he grabbed the door and shoved it shut behind him. Pressing his small fluffy body flat against it and hoping the bully hadn't heard it open Petie held his breath as he heard the dull thunks of his pursuer get closer… and then pass by the door and continue down the hall. Slumping against the door and breathing a sigh of relief Petie clutched his chest and waited for his heart to stop poundi-
"'scues me?"
And shut his eyes tight, praying that HADN'T been a female "'scues me?" he'd just heard. Slowing turning around his prayer went unanswered as he found himself looking at two large female passimians who'd obviously just stepped out of the locker room shower. One was shyly hugging a towel to her front to try and cover her self while the other… stood there with just a towel around her waist and her massive chest exposed. The moment his brain comprehended this Petie shut his eyes tight again and slapped his paws over them for good measure. Hurled himself backwards into the door he babbled apologies as quick as he could… before squeaking in pain. The door apparently only opened one way so Petie smacked into it hard and slid to the tiled floor in a heap, eyes still covered.
"Whoah!" the same rough female voice called as he heard them approaching while he continued to babble apologies "Easy, easy kiddo! We know you're not a peeper!" Petie wasn't sure which one was talking but the concern in their gruff voice didn't help him feel any calmer. "C'm here-" Nor did being picked up as he stopped babbling to squeak in panic as he was lifted and carried before being plopped on what he assumed was a bench. "There we go. Now stop babbling." wobbling on the bench Petie could guess by the sound of it they were both drying off "can't make out a word you're saying." the one who'd picked him up said dryly as he just whimpered softly and shut his mouth.
"There we go. Now you ran in here and didn't even try to hide it." the same monkey girl continued, as Petie sniffled and tried to compose himself. He could hear them moving but hadn't a clue what the two were actually doing just from the sounds alone. "Then you shoved yourself against the door… so I'm gonna guess you didn't know know what room this was, right?" the question was punctuated with a light poke to the forehead that still nearly sent the teddiursa tumbling backwards as he nodded quickly.
"So why did you run in here?" a second voice piped up, sounding softer and a lot less rough than the first one "You looked like…" the soft, concern filled gasp that followed did a wonderful job at making Petie feel small and pathetic "Were you running away from something? From someone?" her tone had shifted to match the gasp as Petie felt his lip quiver in shame "Were you being bullied?" Petie just hung his head at that last question and sniffled as an uncomfortable silence filled the room. Which was broken by an angry stomp that sounded like it could have cracked the floor tiles.
"What kinda scummy bastard would pick on a kid who looks like he's still in diapers?!" the rough, first voice growled out darkly, sounding absolutely furious at the idea. Petie just kept his head hung while praying they didn't notice his furiously blushing cheeks and that she was just being rhetorical with that comment. The girl continued to grind out angry threats directed toward the bully that'd chased Petie in here… before suddenly stopping on a dime to add "Oh, by the way you can look now kiddo." as he felt massive hands gently grasp his paws and tug them away from his face. Caught off guard by this he fluttered his eyes open just in time to hear the soft voice squeak out a warning.
"W-wait!"
Shutting his eyes tight and blushing harder Petie found himself flashing back to having to tell Rose that no, sleeping topless did NOT count as being dressed even if you have pants on. "Patty! Please put your bra on at least!" the softer voice hissed chidingly as the topless passimian, who still was holding Petie's hands, just let out a confused grunt. "What? Worst that'd happen is him getting thirsty." she commented, sounding clueless about what was wrong… or how inappropriate her joke was. "Fine, fine, whatever…" letting go of his paws Petie could hear the rustle of clothing and more grumbles… before he squeaked at being picked up again.
Keeping his eyes shut tight after that last surprise Petie just squirmed pitifully as he felt his new "attacker" turning him over till he was in a familiar, humiliating position. "Sorry about that." the quiet voice said as she cradled him despite his squirming as Petie timidly opened his eyes. He found himself looking up at the apologetic face of one of the girls, framed by her long back hair and the pink headband keeping her it out of her face. "Patty is… a… a bit shamelesss…" the passimian admitted, sounding as embarrassed as he was, all the while nervously shifting how she was holding him. He could tell, from experience, this was probably her first time holding a kid… a fact that just made him blush worse. "A-anyway… what's your name dear?" she asked, her tone just as concerned filled and patronizing as before.
"P-Petie…"
"It's nice to meet you Petie. I'm Robin and that is my Team Leader Patty… oh! That's right! You're part of that Nanny & Teddy-Chan group, aren't you? And Team… Pre… Pre… School was it?"
"Pre-K! … Team Pre-K… a-and yeah… I'm on that team a-and… um… I… 'm Teddy-Chan…"
"Your posters are cute then~ And we've heard a few things about your team…. GOOD things, don't worry. Now then… hmmm… oh! Are you on your free period Petie or do you have somewhere you need to be?"
"That settles it then!!"
The yell was loud enough to echo off the walls as it cut off Petie's answer along with making him and Robin jump. The other Passimian, Patty, stepped back into Petie's view with a massive grin. She wasn't topless anymore but her t shirt looked tight enough it could rip at any moment. Despite that she pumped her arms in the air "Alright!! You'll be hanging with us then!" her voice only slightly less loud than before as she thudded a fist against her chest "Anybody tries to bully you, I'll put their head through a locker!" she finished… sounding waaaaay too cheerful at that proposition for his liking. Robin apparently didn't like it much either as she hugged him close.
"P-Patty! I d-don't want little P-Petie to get bullied a-anymore than you do-"
"C'm on Robin, this'll be our good deed for the day~!"
"B-but you can't j-just decide tha-"
"C'm on kiddo, you get to hangout with Team Gridiron! Show a little excitement!"
The absolutely one sided debate died as Patty snatched him clean out of Robin's arms. Patty grinned happily as the passimian hoisted him high in the air and let out a "Wooo!" cheer. "That's more like it!" Patty laughed, apparently mistaking his cry of fear, Petie HATED heights, for an excited shout as she finally set him back down. The wind whistling in his ears as she did so making the teddiursa stagger, sway, and wobble on his feet as he tried to keep from collapsing on his bottom. Whining and shaking his head for a moment to clear it Petie glanced up, finally getting a full look at the girls.
They both towered over him but he wasn't sure if that was cause he was short, they were really tall, or if their species was just naturally tall. Past the height the two had some similarities since they were both muscular and curvy, kinda like Rose, but the degree was different for both of them. Robin looked like she was a low 6 something height wise and had a toned, strong looking body. Compared to Patty though she looked positively svelte. The grinning passimian was 7 feet tall at least and looked like she'd put some serious body building hours into sculpting her figure. Either way they positively dwarfed Petie… nothing unusual about that.
He'd already gotten a good look at Robin's long black hair and headband, which begged the questions if passimians normally wore their helmets since neither had them on, and trim, conventionally pretty face he finally got a good look at Patty without her massive chest being in the way. She had a squarish face that made her look tough despite the big grin she was sporting and her light blond hair was cropped short save for the front part which curled upwards into stylized spikes that looked like something out of a cartoon. He had to wonder if it was natural or styled that way and if a helmet would even fit over it. He idly noted they were dressed fairly normally with Patty in jeans to go with her tight t shirt and Robin sporting a long sleeved sweater and slacks… all of which hugged their curves.
"So kiddo, wanna piggyback ride to our meeting~?" Patty asked, having bounced down to a squatting position in front of him while he'd been taking all this in "Bet you'd like it~" she added with a grin. Still reeling from his earlier trauma of being lifted up high he was too focused on furiously shaking his head no to wonder what she meant. "Really? Well… okay I guess. Suit yourself." the massive muscular girl said in what was obviously a pout "Anyway c'm on, lets get going~" bouncing back from pouting and back up to her full height Petie watched Patty shoulder a duffle bag and turn around just in time to feel something wrap around his arm. He had just enough time to realize it was Patty's long tail… before she started walking and he found himself waddling rapidly to keep from being dragged behind her.
He found himself doing the pouting as the first words that came to mind for the situation were "Baby Leash" as he pawed at the offending tail. "Hey! Leggo! I dun need dis!" he protested indignantly, still pumping his toddler legs furiously to not trip as he heard Robin following behind them. Patty jut laughed "Easy there kiddo~" she glanced back at him over her shoulder "Don't want you falling behind or getting separated, right? If you don't like this then we can do it the traditional way~" she added with a chuckle that left Petie pretty sure he didn't want to know what the "Traditional" way was.
"She means with you riding on her back while hugging her neck~" Robin chimed in, confirming Petie suspicion that he'd been better off not knowing, before chiding Robin "And slow down Patty, his little legs can't keep up." which, while true, left Petie feeling patronized again. Fortunately Patty did slow down for him as he found himself able to walk at a more manageable pace. "There you go… so kiddo… this or the traditional way, which would you like~?" Patty asked with a chuckle as Petie just resumed pouting.
"This is fine…"
*******************
"So… Team Gridiron…"
"Yep, Team Gridiron~ Said that already kiddo~"
"A team of only passimians…"
"Yeeeeep, said that too~"
"…… how does that even work?"
"Well we try to avoid psychic types if we can~"
Petie's hostage takers, since he was still an unwilling participant in all this, had been nice enough to answer his questions as he was dragged along. Patty was doing most of the talking while Robin had only chimed in occasionally. So far Petie had learned Patty was a senior, Robin was a junior, and they were both on the same team, Team Gridiron, led by Patty and apparently composed of ONLY passimians. He admittedly didn't know much about team composition but a team of all the same species (aka all the same type) didn't strike him as a good idea. Did Passimians even have that big a moveset? He honestly didn't know… he could vaguely remember he'd known one… but that was all. A vague feeling he'd known one sometime in the past.
Of course there was still one thing he HADN'T learned. "Where are you taking me? You said it was a team thing… what KIND of a team thing?" he grumbled, having given up on trying to tug his arm free of Patty's tail. "Well yeah, it's a team thing~ Heck I'm sure Team Daycare does team things together all the time too, right?" Patty called back with a grin… while getting his team name wrong AGAIN. "It's Pre-K Patty, Team Pre-K." Robin corrected, which was good cause Petie had given up back at Team Playpen, before adding "It's nothing major Petie. Just a little casual get together to take care of some team business is all." there was a pause before she gently tapped Petie's shoulder to get him to look back at her "Your team also has a pichu, munchlax, riolu, and dratini in it right? With a miltank babysit-er… coach?" Robin asked as Petie struggled to walk, talk, and look back at her without tripping.
"Y-yeah?"
"We saw you guys at Flints!" Patty suddenly shouted, punctuating it with a laugh "So that's where you guys have your team meetings huh? Bet it's fun to still be small enough for the ball pit, right? Right? That must be awesome~" she added with a chuckle as Petie went bright pink. They'd had one or two meetings at a local family restaurant named Flints (after finding out Sammi went there) before… he hadn't even considered the idea somebody from the school might have seen them there. He didn't even try to reply and focused on staring down at his feet to try and hide his embarrassment-
"Aaaaanyway we're here!"
"Huh-OOPH!" which meant he didn't see Patty suddenly stopping and managed to walk right into her leg and end up on his butt. "Whoooah there little guy, you alright?" Patty asked as her tail finally unwrapped from Petie's arm… so she could scoop the teddiursa up personally. Squeaking as her hands slipped under his arms and again lifted him up high the passimian's grinning face fill Petie's vision "You look okay so no worries, you're a tough little guy right~? Wouldn't be at the PCA if you weren't!" she said, punctuating it with another laugh as Petie blushed again, this time at the praise even if it was kinda insulting. Before he could get comfortable though she suddenly dropped him into a one arm cradle, making him squeak in surprise, and shoved open a door Petie hadn't noticed while calling out to whoever was inside.
"Anyway time to meet the team! Guys! We've got a little guest for the fun!"
Feeling INCREDIBLY put on the spot Petie found himself looking into a small gym with three passimians loitering inside on a bench. That's about all that he had time to see as his vision was promptly blocked by what he could only describe as a living, moving wall of muscle. Flinching back into Patty's arms on reflex he snapped his neck up to see who or WHAT was standing in front of him… and immediately went pale. If it'd been a thuggish, brutish face attached to that massive body it would have been a bit scary. If it'd been a sharp toothed monsterous face it would have have been really scary. It wasn't either of those, but what he did see left a familiar empty feeling of fear in the pit of Petie's stomach as he stared at the dopey, cooing grin of somebody who he was almost certain had at least one baby sibling back at home.
The next few seconds… minutes? Petie honestly wasn't sure what time measurement to use. All he knew was that however long it took it was a dizzying high speed blur. He was scooped out of Patty's arms, held up high, cuddled close, coochie cooed, cooed in general, gently tossed and caught, and rocked all to the chorus of a fairly deep voice pushing itself into that squeaky big-kid-to-toddler tone that was supposed to make little kids laugh. Petie had never been on a real roller coaster before (and no the kiddie coaster at the carnival didn't count) but he imagined this was kinda what it felt like. Either way the end result was the same… he was dizzy, sick to his stomach, and felt like he was gonna cry and/or scream. Just as suddenly as it all started it stopped as Petie found himself dangling in mid-air with a firm set of hands around his middle.
"Easy Jo-Jo, you'll affection him into a crying fit at this rate."
Petie didn't recognize the voice but it was male and, just from the tone of it, likely from a big guy. He couldn't actually SEE who was talking though since he was being held up facing AWAY from them… a position that always annoyed Petie. "Heh~ Sorry, couldn't help myself." the other voice, no longer pitched up and squeaky, caught Petie's attention "You look like your my baby bros age little guy but… you're a teen, right?" Finally seeing the guy from a couple feet away Petie's early description of "A wall of muscle" was pretty accurate. Standing even taller than Patty (though not by much) the guy looked like he positively dwarfed her due to sheer build. Broad shoulder and built like somebody was sculpting a Greek God the passimian's t shirt and jeans rippled with each motion he made. Particularly as he reached one massive hand up to scratch his short, messy brown hair while giving Petie a sincerely sheepish look "One a those… er… playschool, pre-school.. oh! Team Pre-K members, right?" he added, snapping his fingers as he remembered it.
"… yeah, and I'm only forgiving you cause you got it right." Petie grumbled, resisting looking to see if he could glare at Patty from where he was dangled. Despite the giant monkey looking like he could pop Petie's head clean off his shoulder with just his thumb the teddiursa, to his surprise, wasn't the lest bit intimidated by the guy or even angry with him. There was just something sweet, earnest, and nice in the overly muscular guy's face… which was annoying since Petie's head was still spinning and he WANTED to be upset. "Sorry bout Jo-Jo there!" a third male voice, this one slightly reedy and hyper, piped up as there was a flurry of bouncing motion to the side of Petie's vision "He's just a big affectionate lug! Heh heh!" the laugh was as reedy as the voice as the fluffy of motion flitted behind the masive passimian to the other side of Petie's vision "You're luck he didn't check if you needed a change with how much the big guy talks about those baby sibs of his!"
Finally the reedy voice guy quite literally bounced into Petie's view. A small, in comparison to the others since the new guy was probably in the 5 foot range, passimian jumped onto Jo-Jo's still raised arm and hung there like it was a (no pun intended) monkey bar.Despite knowing how unfair it was Petie couldn't help but compare the new guy to the other passimians around him… and the new guy was TINY compared to them. Not only in height but in musculature. His loose rock band t shirt and baggy shorts didn't do anything to help him NOT look like a kid among teens compared to the others either. Though his big, grinning, trouble making face, parked under a shock of rust red hair stuck up every which way, did a lot to make him look like the little kid you couldn't take your eyes off of unless you wanted massive property damage on your hands.
"Come on Marv!" Jo-Jo protest as Petie started to squirm in the grasp of the still unidentified person holding him "I could tell he didn't need a change!" the massive monkey added as Petie stopped squirming to look horrified. Did he know!? "Come on now guys, 'nough teasing the kiddo!" Patty called, Petie assuming that meant it was a joke and relaxing, as she shoved her way into his vision again "And put him down already Manny, I wanna introduce him to you all!" On cue Petie found he was being gently lowered back to the ground and set firmly on his feet. Whoever this Manny was even pausing for a moment to let him get his footing before letting go just to make sure he didn't fall. Petie's immediately registered that Manny probably had baby siblings too… or at least worked with young kids some.
Finally free Petie… was slightly ashamed as he found himself scurrying away from the troop of monkeys on reflex. He managed to catch himself though (mostly due to the fact he'd retreated further INTO the gym) and turn on his heels to try and play it off as if he just wanted to get some distance. Which due to the sheer size of most of the members of this team was a reasonable idea. "Hope my buddies didn't spook you too bad kiddo~ Let me introduce you to Team Gridiron!" Patty said bombastically, throwing her arms wide for emphasis, barely avoiding smacking anybody.
Grinning she pointing to the massive monkey first "This here is Joseph, call him Joe, Joey, or Jo-Jo whichever you want. He doesn't mind, trust me~" She laughed as the big guy smiled warmly to Petie and waved. Which had the effect of dislodging the smaller passimian from his arm just as Patty motioned to him "And this is Marvin! We call him Marv~" she continued as Marv twisted in mid air, landed on his feet, and stood up (confirming to Petie he was somewhere in the low 5 foot range) before grinning and snickering in a friendly way.
"And that brings us-" Patty continued, motioning to her right (as Petie noticed Robin was still there and was just quietly waiting in the background) to the guy he hadn't gotten to see yet "to my second-in-command and Gridiron's co-founder! Meet Manti! " she declared dramatically before chuckling "Don't worry, he doesn't mind if you just call him Manny." she added as Manny gave Petie a relaxed but friendly smile and waved. Meanwhile Petie wondered why he hadn't been able to see the guy even IF he hadn't been facing him. He was a bit shorter than Patty (putting him in the high 6 foot range) but Manny was as broad as her and Jo-Jo put together with a body build that reminded the teddiursa of Taiho. Like the sumo slowbro Manny was to put it bluntly FAT (particularly with a massive gut) but somehow also very muscular. Combined with his broad shoulders and broad… well… everything Petie couldn't help but admit the passimian fit the description of a living wall better than Jo-Jo did.
"So Patty, cute as getting a visit from one of the famed "Toddler Freshmen" is-" Manny said, his tone friendly and jovial which kept the comment from having any sting to it "what's Petie doing here?" he asked, catching Petie (and judging by their reaction the rest of his team) off guard. "Yeah I know his name, I had some time to kill so I watched some of Team Pre-K's matches." Manny said with a shrug and chuckle "So I also know he's not the age he looks AND he has his own team so he's not the kid we're gonna be meeting… care to explain?" he finished, looking to Patty curiously. Jo-Jo and Marv followed his lead as Patty laughed loudly and began to explain… not that Petie got to listen to it. The moment Manny had started talking someone tapped him on the shoulder making the teddiursa jump and whirl around to find… that Robin had somehow gotten behind him?
"W-we didn't actually tell you what this meeting was about, did we?" she said softly, her whisper of a voice a shocking contrast to the attitudes of most of the rest of her team, and was a relief for the teddiursa. Petie shook his head and she sighed "I thought so. You see-" she gently patted Petie's head, a demeaning gesture Petie had long ago grown a dislike for, as she continued "a freshman asked Patty if he could join our team. So this meeting is supposed to introduce us to him and let us see what he has to offer." Without thinking Petie blurted out the first question that came to mind "He another passimian?" and immediately worried he'd been rude. Luckily Robin just giggled and nodded. His next question was slightly better thought out.
"Why would your team want a freshmen on it? You're all juniors, right? … wait… isn't Patty a senior? Does that mean-"
"Yes, we're a mixed team. Jo-Jo and I are juniors, Marv is a sophomore, and Patty and Manny are seniors." she explained as Petie nodded "So we'll need at least one new member for when Patty and Manny graduate this year if we want to stay a full team~" she finished, giving Petie a beaming grown-up-to-little-kid smile as she squatted down to his level, before adding "Understand?" in a patronizing tone along with another head pat. He understood just fine actually… which is why he screwed up his face into a blushy pout and was about to remind her he was 14 year old and not some little kid who needed his hand held through complex ideas.
Before he could though he found himself rocketing upward so fast that he thought the heavens themselves were yanking him away, Before he could scream the acceleration stopped… and he found himself hugged firmly, but not painfully, to Jo-Jo's chest. "If anybody EVER bullies you let me know and I'll fold them in half." he said, his voice warm and gentle as he rested his chin comfortingly on Petie's head without pressing down. Unfortunately his tone was also serious enough Petie was scared he actually MEANT that threat "Same goes for your little buddies to. Not gonna let anybody pick on a kid your size on my watch!" Dazed from the sudden elevation Petie didn't reply. He could only guess that Patty had finished explaining what'd happened earlier to them and-
He immediately pressed himself back into Jo-Jo's arms as Marv's face suddenly filled his view… except it was upside down! The smaller monkey was apparently leaning over his teammates shoulders or head or something to bring his face WAY too close to Petie's for comfort "That goes double for me!" Marv said, his smile significantly less friendly than before and somehow managing to actually look upset "So just give us a call next time who-ever-that-creep-was bothers you, got it~?" he added in as Petie shifted nervously in Jo-Jo's hands. This certainly wasn't the FIRST time something like this had happened… but it still left the teddiursa feeling very self conscious. He was at the PCA… wasn't he supposed to be fighting his OWN battles now? Not running and hiding behind people who just randomly declared themselves his protectors… he was supposed to have left that at his old school.
As he thought that Petie found himself scooped up AGAIN for the he-didn't-know-how-many-anymore-ith time that day. Fortunately THIS time he wasn't being whipped through the air so fast the wind whistled in his ears. Instead he found himself plucked out of Jo-jo's arms, sending Marv tumbling with a thud, and lowered down to a more reasonable height as his latest abductor turned out to be Manny. "Easy guys, kids already been through enough today. Much as I'm sure he appreciates the sentiment I think he's a bit overwhelmed right now." the fat passimian said as, to Petie's absolute surprise, Manny actually set him down. "Come on-" the big monkey said, walking over to the bench, plopping down, and motioning Petie over "have a seat. We're just waiting for the newbie to show up. You can tell us about yourself." lifting a backpack Petie hadn't noticed before Manny popped it open and pulled out a bag of poffins before grinning "I brought snacks~"
That was all it took for Petie to decide he like Manny best out of all these monkeys so far.
**********************
Scurrying down the hallways Keiki was on constant look out for the triplets. The last thing the passimian needed was for his siblings to catch him before he could get where he was going. They would undoubtedly just drag him off by the hand like some kind of toddler… he wasn't a darn toddler! No matter what he looked like! Just cause they were four years older than him didn't mean they got to treat him like that! It wasn't fair!
Quickly ducking into a doorway just in case the monkey fumed quietly to himself, already in a worse mood than usual just thinking about how they treated him. Just cause he was the youngest and littlest in the family… it wasn't fair! Peeking his head out from his cover he looked to make sure the coast was clear Last thing he need was them sneaking up on him again and scooping him up like a preschooler. Especially since he was almost there, just a few more hallways and he'd be at the gym.
Shouldering his bag he resumed waddling along, trying to focus on the few positives in his life. He was getting one over on the triplets doing this. That was always a good thing. "Don't set up spars without telling us" they said, "Don't try out for this team" they said… it always felt good to see the look on their faces when they found out he'd ignored them. Wasn't like they could punish him anyway. He was their "Pwecious Baby Bwo", as much as that fact made him sick, and Mom wouldn't let them do anything to him. Still, disobeying them didn't make how everybody treated him better… or him feel any less angry.
Double checking the last hallway Keiki wanted to feel relieved that it was empty… but thinking about all that stuff had gotten him too worked up. Clenching his fist tight the little passimian just wanted to PUNCH something to get the anger out! Punch something or someone, make THEM feel what it was like to… he shook his head furiously and slapped his cheeks to get that thought out of his mind. He didn't do that anymore. He didn't. Not after what happened at his old school… what happened to Petie…
Shuddering and adjusting his pants, to make sure the diapers he needed weren't visible, he scurried down the hall as quickly as he could manage. He needed to get these thoughts out of his head. He needed to focus. Even if he was just trying out for this Team Gridiron to spite the triplets he still needed to show these guys how tough he was! Last thing he needed was to get a rep for being weak, especially here at the PCA! Wasn't like there were smaller kids he could pick on to show he was tough… not that he would anymore!
Shaking his head again to focus Keiki took a deep breath, adjusted his newsboy cap, pulled himself up to his full height of barely four feet, puffed out his chest, and pushed open the doors to the gymnasium. Swaggering, it was definitely a swagger and not a waddle… at least that what he told himself, into the gym he looked around to see who was there. His big sibs had mentioned Gridiron was a passimian only team, and the flyer on the bulletin board had said "Passimians Only Please", but that sounded stupid to him. Sure he wasn't the smartest fighter but a team of only one species was ridiculo-
"Hey there~ Looks like we got another tiny teen, silly coincidence~ Nice to-"
"Sit back down Jo-Jo, you can hug him later~ You our tryout for the day kiddo?"
Oooor it could be a team of only passimians, that could definitely be a thing. Keiki stopped to blink and take in the group. He might have been unnaturally short for a 14 year old but he was pretty sure these guys (and girls) were MASSIVE. That one guy must of had a machamp for a dad with how big and sculpted he looked and the girl wasn't far behind him. There was another guy there who probably had a snorlax for a dad with how big his gut was… though he wasn't sure if that was a thing or not, could that happen? He hadn't bothered to pay attention to breeding groups. There were two others but they looked more normal… he was happy to see at least one of the group wouldn't tower over him actually.
Suddenly a flash of tan passed the group caught his attention. Craning to try and see around them Keiki finally noticed there was someone else here, someone who WASN'T a passimian. They were on one side of the fat guy, sharing a bench with them and just out of his sight save for seeing brief flashes of movement. Wait, they'd mentioned there was another… tiny teen, he internally groaned at that title, here… was this them? If so why the heck were they crashing HIS audition then? Did Gridiron invite them? There'd better be a darn good reason-
"Maybe you two kiddos know eachother~ You gonna say hi Petie?"
Every muscle in Keiki's body froze as a horrifyingly, hauntingly familiar face peeked around the fat guy to look at him. The face he'd seen so often in the past… and shoved to the ground a good third of those times… then felt good about it. The sick feeling in the pit of his stomach insured he wasn't gonna be feeling good about this as he locked eyes with the teddiursa. The moment of recognition was coming. Any second Petie's eyes would light up and he'd remember Keiki and then… then… he didn't know. Would Petie scream, yell at him, tattle about what he did to him back then? If he did what would Gridiron do to-
"Hi? Um… have we met? You seem… kinda familiar… I-I'm Petie, nice to meet you?"
The sick feeling in his stomach dropped even lower as Keiki somehow managed to feel even worse. "Y-yeah." he said, his childish voice having gone strained and squeaky "W-we went t-to the s-same m-middle school…" he muttered, images of all the cruel things he used to do to Petie to make himself feel better and bigger flashing in his mind. "T-took t-the battling elective together…" he added, knees almost knocking as the shameful memories of just how cruel he'd been to the Teddiursa, and any other kid smaller than him in that class, washing over him "R-remember?" Keiki chocked out… almost hoping that jogged Petie's memory if only to make the revived guilt he was feeling more bearable.
"… I'm sorry…" the sympathetic look from the bear almost physically hurt "I… I don't remember you… or much of my old school really." The teddiursa screwed up his face in thought as Keiki just stood there, internally dying, before Petie finally shook his head "Yeah… nothings coming back… just remember I transferred out to the PCA cause of… some… sum'thin… um… d-do you know if anything happened?" The question was sincere and the look on Petie's face seemed genuine… but that didn't keep it from plunging Keiki right back into a memory he saw in his nightmares.
"Sum'thin" happened alright… the images were still clear and cruel in the passimian's mind. A pep rally, a full gymnasium, everybody there to see what happened. The costume… what they made him wear. What they made him do in front of the whole school. Petie's drugged smile slowly shifting to dazed confusion… then horror and disbelief… then tears. Broken, broken tears and sobs that sounded just like a babies. The laughter and worse the cooing from the students. The horror that it could have been done to him… that he was no better than the ones who did it… all of that that Pete didn't remember…
"D-dunno… guess I wasn't around to see it." he squeaked, somehow managing not to choke on the bold faced lie. Some stuff was better forgotten… he just wished he could forget too. "That's too bad… but I think you're forgetting something kiddo~" Keiki nearly jumped as the buff girl spoke up again. He'd completely forgotten they were their! "W-what's that?" he squeaked quickly, trying to get his voice back under control… along with his bad memories and guilt. The small bubble of annoyance he felt when the girl just laugh in response helped with that… even if he could tell it was a good natured one. He hated being laughed at,
"Petie introduced himself, but we're still waiting to hear what YOUR name is kiddo~"
And the girls question caught him completely flat footed. "O-oh! Right… right… I… I'm Keiki… er… t-that's what my family calls me anyway…" He stole a glance at Petie to see if that accidentally jogged any memories… but the bear just looked confused as he'd full come out from around the fat guy letting Keiki see just how little the teddiursa had changed from… back then. "And what's your actual name then?" It took him a moment to focus enough to realize the fat guy had spoken up as he just stared at the massive passimian in confusion… noting he wasn't the only one.
"Gonna hope I'm not the first one telling you this but Keiki basically means baby in Alolan, so I'm gonna assume it's just a nickname." the fat guy continued as Keiki shifted nervously. He wasn't really good at social cues and stuff… but he could tell the big guy wasn't happy with the unspoken implications of what this meant for his family. "K-kealani, m-my names Kealani!" he quickly blurted out, not adding his last name for fear they might recognize it from the triplets "A-and they d-don't mean anything by it, I-I'm just the youngest that's all!" he added, unintentionally letting a little anger leak out in his tone. He might hate them for treating him like a baby… but they were his family, they had a right to do it… right? A-anyway he wasn't gonna have a stranger questioning that.
"Whoah, easy their Kealani-" it was odd to hear somebody other than a teacher use his full name as the fat guy held his hands up in a placating gesture "didn't mean anything about your family, honest. Just found it a little odd to call a teenager baby is all. Nice to meet you." he continued… as Keiki found himself utterly baffled with how to react to this. It took him a moment to actually find a description for how the fat guy was handling him… he was acting like they were… equals? Could he do that?
"Well he is still cute like a baby, reminds me a lot of my baby bros~"
"You said Petie reminded you of your baby bros Jo-Jo… heck, you said it about most of the tiny teens you see."
"That's cause they do~"
Keiki's cheeks flushed in annoyance and embarrassment at the two muscular monkey's conversation way over his head. Especially when the one normal sized passimian of the group just cackled in amusement at all of it as the quiet girl, he wasn't sure if she'd actually spoken since he got here, just sighed and shook her head. "Don't mind them, come on." it was the fat guy talking to him again as he patted the bench he was sitting on "You and Petie can catch up for a moment, then we'll do our side of the introductions and we can get the try-out going…" grinning the guy held up a half empty bag of poffins "I brought snacks."
Keiki resisted wincing at the comment and Petie's hopeful look at the idea. Catching up with Petie was the last thing he wanted at this point… he didn't deserve it. He didn't deserve the hand of friendship the bear looked like he wanted to extend. Not after spending so long hurting the bear. How could he get out of this… he needed an excuse… an excuse…
"What do you say Kealani? Bet it's been a while since you got to chat like an actual teen."
A small part of Keiki was deeply offended by he insinuations of that comment. A larger part of him couldn't help but concede that the fat guy was not only right… but the offer was damn hard to turn down. That and he could get used to being called by his real name, without it being by mom or dad when he was in trouble, instead of that nickname. He couldn't help but wonder how long ago he'd just accepted being Keiki… he honestly couldn't recall. Glancing between Petie, the fat guy, and the bag of poffins the fat guy was shaking… then back again at each of them. Finally he let out a deep sigh.
"Fine… think I like you the best so far…"
"Tell me about it."
Petie's comment and giggle caught him off guard as the fat guy gave a big belly laugh. He was also surprised when the rest of Gridiron actually protested at his comment… along with a heartbroken whine of disappointment he HOPED didn't come from the big guy… but he was pretty sure it did. He had NO clue what he was getting into here… but it couldn't get much worse…
Right?
To Be Continued...

PCA - Monkey Business
Part 1

Right?
