…
The way out was now closed.
Chester laid on his face, completely hopeless from ever escaping the monsters and fire surrounding him. His quills were singed from the fire blast that barely missed him, trail of smoke rising into the air. There was a dreadful feeling in his gut that made him realize that, against all odds, he was done for.
“You’ve made you last mistake here, kiddo!” Roared the red demon in-between his frequent cursing. There was no denying that as soon as he catch him, he’ll be burned in the most painful fashion.
Even then, he lied completely still. Was there really nothing else for him now? Even if he gets up, he’ll get shot down easily. Was there somewhere to hide? He was afraid of even turning his head at that moment. Can he make a break for the exit again? He then heard the red demon making a large inhale. You’ve got to be kidding me! It seems he was going to become barbecue even if he were to lie down.
What do you want?
It was an impossible situation.
Tell me, what do you want?
Chester could feel the burning sensation all over his skin.
Do you want power? I can grant it to you!
Slowly his dreams, those that he so long for and fought for began to fade.
DO YOU HAVE A WISH?
“DIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEE!” Screamed the demon, as the sound of crackling fire began to near the boy. At this point, it was too late.
Everything is gone, except for one thing.
I want to get out…Away from this town…I want to see where my Dad is…I want to be able to learn who I AM!
Fire was now traveling towards Chester…Only to miss.
I WANT OUT!
“RRAAAAGHHH!” The red demon screamed in pain, fiery tower emerging from his mouth and rising to the sky, as the dagger glowed in his chest. It then pulled itself out, in most painful fashion, and then shot out towards the poor hedgehog.
The boy looked at it, but soon it’s light, warm and invigorating, began to block his vision. Engulfed in its glow, almost everything disappeared to him, whilst on the outside, the boy’s features became indescribable.
“NO!” Mal yelled, moments later after desisting spewing fire. He was trembling, the light’s power was too much for the demon to even look at.
But soon, the light slowly faded, revealing a shape of a tall, adult figure within it. He had blue fur and a long sword, reaching from his hand all the way to the ground, double-sided, with a red grip. The figure stood there motionless, but slowly, he was becoming aware of his surroundings.
Mal has failed.
“No! Not where I’m standing!” Mal breathed in, and shot a fireball straight at the figure. He only now got the power, so he must still have trouble adjusting to it, he figured.
And that was proven false.
The figure simply raised his hand, causing the fireball to bounce off and disperse harmlessly. Immediately after, he swung his sword down and a gust of wind shot out from him, calming the fiery ring that had surrounded them.
Mal was in complete stupor.
Then he pulled out his claws, “If that ain’t gonna work, then I’ll rip ya to pieces instead!”
Mal leapt forward with great enough speed that he was able to reach the blue figure, whilst the latter still yet to notice him. Except, whereas the demon had great speed, the warrior’s one was much greater.
“Hah! What- RAAGH!” Mal landed face first into the tree, which broke in two. Getting back up, he saw the blue figure still standing, albeit in complete daze, despite the odds.
The demon leapt again high into the air, this time trying to approach from above. As he was about to surely land a hit, the demon found himself missing again as the latter moved to the side, without turning his head.
“WHY CAN’T YA JUST-“ Mal stopped his exasperating, when he noticed the figure’s blue-furred face right in front of his demonic-red own. The figure was slowly pulling his hand back, making Mal preemptively, and much to his fortune, jump away. As the figure swung his sword again, a gust of wind pushed Mal away about ten feet.
“Ya can’t be serious about this!!!” He then landed right back on his feet. He was ready to do something else, but something caught his eye then
The warrior turned Mal, pointing his sword towards the demon. Mal’s large red eyes were staring at the tip of the sword, realizing slowly what he is now facing against. The figure started slowly to position himself, gripping the hilt of the sword with both hand, lowering his center to the ground. It didn’t take long for Mal, who was before that completely desperate, to become despairing over the situation. The figure was in ready position, when suddenly-
“I got him MAL!”
A blue hand with long fingers stuck out from behind the figure and impaled through his gut. Mal smiled from ear to ear.
“Took ya long enough ya idiot!” This was perfect for Mal. While the figure was formidable, he was only one against two. He hadn’t yet came to be comfortable with his new body, Mal was snickered evilly, Even Bubon could take him out easily! However, he immediately noticed something wrong.
“Say MAL, what do you think-“
“MOVE BUBON!” From behind, a strong kick landed on Bubon’s head, digging it right into the ground. Figure got back on his feet, completely unharmed, standing over the blue demon. And his sword was planted onto the ground, the same position he was in when Bubon struck him.
Mal eyed the body of his friend, but it was completely limp. The blow was hard enough to knock him out, if not kill him. Before this, before everything, they were on the verge of killing this pathetic mortal. But one screw-up has let to next, it seems, and now, the demon understood what they were dealing with. And that made him feel fear. Staring back at the figure, he saw it turn to him. Mal was left with no choice.
I’m done either way! He thought.
And thus, he leapt forward towards the figure. While the latter quickly moved retrieve his sword, Mal instead went to scoop his friend from the ground. Before long, he was already farther away, running off into the distance, with only one thing heard from afar.
“DAMN YOU AZURE!”
…
The forest was quiet again. The branches shook as the winds passed through. The warrior stood still, and allowed all of the sensation to come back to him, finally. After all these years…
He wanted to enjoy this moment…
