It was a blisteringly hot day out, and what better way to cool off on a sweltering day such as this than taking a nice dip in a pool? There was a new public pool near where you lived, so you decided to go and check it out.
When you first got there, you were pleasantly surprised to see that no one else was there. That meant that you could have the entire pool to yourself! Or at least until someone else came. The only other creature that was there was a smiling yellow duck pooltoy that was happily bobbing up and down in the pool.
You thought it was a little weird that there weren’t more people here, but you shrugged it off and went inside.
“Hey. Welcome to the pool. No running. That rule is strictly enforced. Otherwise go wild.”
You turned to see a bored lifeguard sitting at the top of her post. She was clearly not in the mood for anything, with the sun beating down on her and no one in the pool to watch over. ”Seriously. Don’t you even think of running. No jogging. No cantering. No trotting. No skipping. All you can do is walk. And swim. But that part is obvious.” She then shooed you away.
You rolled your eyes after leaving her. “Oh please. Everyone runs at the pool. And there are no consequences.” you said, making your way to the changing rooms.
You came out a few minutes later wearing bright blue swimming trunks. It was so HOT out, that you just had to rush over to the pool as soon as possible. When the lifeguard wasn’t looking, you made a mad dash towards the edge of the pool and prepared to jump in!
But suddenly you found that your legs wouldn’t work. They wouldn’t cooperate with you, for some reason! And in your struggles you accidentally fell flat on your back which knocked the air out of you.
“Ow! What the hell!” you exclaimed, squinting as you happened to stare up at the sun for a brief moment.
That’s when you saw the lifeguard appear on top of you. “I warned you!” she said menacingly, “Those who run at the pool will be punished! But don’t worry, I’ll make sure you spend a lot of time in the water, you shark!”
“Is that supposed to be an insult?” you asked, cocking your head. You tried to move your legs, but you found that they were strangely stuck together. Pushing up your arms to look up, your jaw dropped as you saw they were merged together like a shark tail, and they made a squeaking noise as you moved them! They also shined in the sunlight, as if they were synthetic.
You found you couldn’t stop taking deep breaths, either. As you stared at your belly, it felt like all you could do was keep intaking huge gulps of air. Your stomach began to inflate, bulging out with a squeak and a squish. You grabbed it with your arm and saw a plastic nozzle appear where your belly button used to be!
“What’s happening to me?!” you shouted at the lifeguard, as you watched your skin turn gray and shiny. You smacked your hand against your pudgier stomach and heard a hollow sound as you watched it wobble at your touch.
“Isn’t it obvious? I’m turning you into a pooltoy for our wonderful little establishment!” she responded, poking your body and feeling that there was still quite a bit of give. You realized that you had no more bones, or organs, no heartbeat, or anything. You whimpered as the transformation reached your face.
Your face pushed out into a shark’s, and your mouth completely warped into a smiling grin, with triangular teeth. You were smiling, but you were not liking this in the slightest! Why were you smiling?!
“Mmmm! Mmmm!” you tried to say through your lack of a mouth. “Can’t m-move! Help me…” is what you wanted to say, but all you could do now was make a few more shudders as your ability to move slowly drained away.
And soon, you were just a light shark pooltoy lying on the ground. The lifeguard picked you up and suddenly you were squished against her body. “Ooh! I can’t wait to take you for a spin!” she said, gripping onto your new handles.
All you could do in response was smile happily!
