It was a beautiful day out, and the weather was perfect for a nice walk through the woods. That’s exactly what Flick was doing. A young man with dark brown hair and wearing a dark navy shirt with gray pants and brown shoes, he breathed in the fresh air and exhaled slowly, taking in the sights and sounds.
“I couldn’t have picked a better day to come outside!” Flick said to himself out loud, since there was no one around to hear him. In fact, this path he was on was overgrown so much that the entrance to the path was largely obscured by shrubs.
After walking for about ten minutes, Flick noticed that the trees and plants were starting to get really dense. Still, he pushed through, remembering the various landmarks and the path he was still on. He was sure he could retrace his steps no problem.
Flick huffed as he put his hands on his hips and saw a rather thick tree that had grown a little awkwardly and was taking up the entire pathway. This tree had a very thick trunk, but in the middle of this trunk there was a hole large enough for him to fit through. The path seemed to continue on past it. This hole wasn’t drilled or picked through or anything, but it seemed slightly unnatural nonetheless.
“Well I’m not going to just turn back now.” Flick mumbled, climbing and squeezing through the hole in the tree. Almost immediately when he did, the air somehow felt even fresher than before as the leaves from various plants welcomed him to the other side of the tree.
Flick brushed away the numerous branches that kept blocking his way and continued to move forward. He had no idea that two short leaves had stuck themselves to the back of his wrists, one on each hand.
From one leaf, two others began to grow. They were healthy, green leaves that immediately began to soak in the sun and energize Flick. Nerves attached themselves to the leaves as well, allowing Flick to feel his attachments waving back and forth in the air as he swung his arms.
This new feeling was what caught his attention. Raising his right hand, he stopped in his tracks when he saw the growths. “What the--?!” he exclaimed, “What’s going on here?!” he tried to pull off the pesky leaves, but he winced in pain when he did. They were stuck tight.
The changes seemed to realize that Flick noticed them, and they sped up rapidly from there. Flick yelped as he walked right out of his shoes, his whole body starting to shrink into his clothes. His pants slipped off, revealing two larger green lives growing around his tailbone. His feet, now made up of two toes, ripped through his socks.
His fingers also started to merge together, forming two-clawed hands that turned a lighter green than the leaves. In fact, he was starting to turn green all over, even as he shrunk.
“What’s happening to me?!” Flick shouted as his face started to push out into something vaguely reptilian, and also green. His lower jaw, however, turned a shade of red, which started to spread down his neck and to his torso. As his hair fell out, a larger and longer green leaf sprouted, growing down his back.
At last he ripped his clothes off, since they were complicating things, and soon he was naked, his scraps of clothing lying on the forest floor. He turned to his left and saw a sign that read “To Route 121” followed by an arrow pointing in one direction.
Flick then looked himself over, not noticing that the sclera of his eyes turned bright yellow and his irises darkened up. He was now much shorter than before, and in the body of a--
“Grovyle?! G-Grov!! Grovyle-Gro!” Flick exclaimed, his ability to speak English taken away from him, replaced by saying his species name over and over again.
He was such a smol boi, but he also felt so alive! Flick grinned as he flexed his muscles, feeling the power in the skinny limbs he had. He jumped up and jumped higher than he ever thought possible! Dashing off to the woods, he swung from the trees and made sure to practice Leaf Blade several times while he was at it, too!
The thought to return through the hole in the tree came back to him at some point, but for now, Flick was a Grovyle, and he was loving every second of it!
