It was already evening, and the final bell had already rang. Chester packed his stuff into his locker, grabbing only the homework he might do today for the classes before lunch. Walking straight towards the exit, he ended up nearly bumping into someone in the halls.
Be careful- The latter was Pierre, who paused mid-sentence. Well, hello, Chester.
Whats up? Chester asked. The halls were already emptying themselves from the rest of the kids, leaving only the two to talk.
Nothing much, though I have important things to do. It was then that Chester noticed how big the stack of binders that Pierre was carrying with him.
These look heavy.
Of course. The path to a successful and community-driven school is built with hard work. Me being a part of it is very gratifying, Ill have you know.
Chester rolled his eyes, but then noticed something as he did. Despite how empty the halls were becoming, a group of boys were walking towards them from the direction of the exit, blocking it. They were led by the bear cub, Russel.
Chester then abruptly grabbed Pierre and pulled him away.
Whatre you- Pierre exclaimed.
HEY! Russel yelled.
As they ran, Chester looked around and found a convenient janitors closet nearby. He pushed the complaining white crow in, before shutting the door right behind himself. The closet smelled wet cloths and cleaning supplies, but it was still safe here.
Explain yourself! Pierre exclaimed.
Chester shushed him in return and then listened through the door to outside.
I saw you walking by in here, you prickly head! He felt the knob on the door turn, so he grabbed nearby mop and stuck under it to keep the door in place. Dammit, thats locked! The bully shouted, Youre gonna regret this when I find you! And if you wont, someone else will!!!
He then left the door alone. Chester sighed in relief, but then felt disapproving eyes of Pierre drill into back of his head.
What did you do?
Nothing! I mean, nothing awful, you know.
Pierre kept staring at him.
Look, do you want to deal with those guys?
They both could hear some lockers banging, to which Pierre slowly relaxed his disapproval and just leaned against a wall. Few minutes passed, yet the bullies wouldnt leave, much to Chesters and Pierres annoyance. At that point, the former decided to go for a talk with his friend,
So, Pierre, umWhat were you doing?
I had a meeting to go to about sending some student into the city.
What, really? Why?
The school chose four students they deemed to be appropriate to represent our school and our town. It is basically to ask for money from the larger school board. We were also going to prepare an assembly for it, so theres that.
Why get an assembly?
To show it off later online and stuff.
Chester raised his eyebrows. He always found it somewhat dumb just how much a school puts time and effort for stupid stuff like this, instead of something small like newer cleaning supplies. The broom in the closet was literally split into two.
And, what about you? Pierre took a turn in asking, Anything with those spirits and things? A meeting, perhaps?
The spirits were gonna visit my house. I left the rock we found in my place, so they are looking at it.
A rock? Thats it? I thought you would find something more.
Its a clue. We are still trying to piece stuff together. Chester rubbed his nose. Heard you got left on top of the tower.
Pierre gave out an exasperated sigh.
It was the worst night of my life. Right next to the worst day of us having to run away from a horde of spider demons.
So even worse than when you were left up that tree with me?
That was just us being stupid.
Yeah. Chester gave a smile. Or when we broke that expensive vase from elementary school.
Dont remind me. My dad STILL pieces it into his lectures on how I should behave.
Chester snickered, but Pierre shook his head, looking away.
Anyways I am busy today. Did they leave?
Chester checked the door for sounds. It was quiet.
I think so.
The two opened the door. The halls were now empty. Pierre bolted straight out and without even turning back.
Hey! Chester called, getting the white crows attention. We have a meeting tomorrow, and Tom says hell come. Will you be there?
Of course I will, Pierre replied. Ive been doing meetings for months now.

The next day, during lunchtime.
Chester had already arrived to the library, sitting quietly inside the same desk deep within the building. Azure was alongside him and looking less stiff than usual. Apparently, Rose and the others werent sure what the rock was, but it did look exactly like the type of jewels they would trade for overseas. They waited until others would come to, and the first to be there was Tom, who was carrying a backpack, as well as an additional bag with him.
Oh hey, Chester! Tom greeted the latter. He then looked up to the spirit, And greetings to you, honorable warrior.
Well, greetings to your fine self too, Azure replied. Any word of Kage.
None whatsoever sir! Tom had an exaggerated medieval tone to his voice, that made Chester cringe somewhat, though he didnt bother to show it.
A pity.
So I guess lets wait for the girls? Chester asked.
I dont think Barbie will come anytime soon though, Tom suddenly stated to both of them.
Huh, why? Chester questioned, causing Tom to reel back a bit. This surprised the former.
I-I saw her earlier! Had to give her back some things she let us borrow. And um He then looked dead straight at Chester, Just telling you, so dont get too mad.
What do you mean? Chester was becoming extremely confused.
Her whole house got vandalized yesterday by somebody. It looked really bad.
Really? Chester felt really bad for Barbie at that moment. But also not that surprised, considering stuff that nearly happened to her. He secretly hoped that she was okay.
Who has the abhorrent gall to do such a thing? Azure exclaimed.
I can tell quite a few, Chester sighed.
You arent mad, Chester? Tom asked, sounding relieved.
Mad? Well, I guess I am. Its really crappy. Better tell everyone and maybe postpone this meeting.
Perhaps, Azure agreed. All of the members of our team are as important as the team whole.
Suddenly, a third person came into the room, it was Pierre. He was wearing a backpack and held a juice box.
Well, hello, you two. So I am guessing its just us three today? He then quickly made his way onto a seat.
What do you mean? Wheres Flora? Chester probed.
Well, funny that, she sent me a message telling me that shes busy and wont be coming today. Then said that she is thinking of doing talks another way. Something about Rose helping her, not entirely sure.
This really surprised the hedgehog.
Okay, I dont like this. He got of his seat and immediately went for exit. Cmon, lets check up on Barbie first. You coming too Pierre.
What? But we have school later! Pierre complained.
Dont worry, itll be quick. I know a shortcut.
But we are leaving school premises!
Oh quit whining, Chester waved him off, then turned to the cat, You coming Tom?
Oh! Uh-Of course!
The duo went out, Chester helping the guy by carrying his large bag. Azure followed right behind them. Pierre shook his feathery head and was thinking between leaving them or following.
A minute passed, and he chose to follow.

There you go, one hot hotdog, for the last day up in this town.
The young tiger man handed the good to the customer, before wiping the sweaty forehead with his cap. He then reached out to see how much more left. The handful he had was enough that he could empty it before the end of day.
Say man, I know you said that you want to dance, but what makes you so sure you can do it?
The young tiger looked at his customer, then pondered a bit.
I mean, you dont look that good, and you just started practicing
The tiger laughed, taking the things said in stride.
Nah, Ive been practicing all my life. I just liked to put it off. Honestly, I kinda came to this conclusion that, even if that doesnt work, I should keep trying to go for it. You know, even if I am not sure about it, just do my damnest.
Sounds fun. See you several months later on the streets.
Shut your yap. The tiger then laughed. He left the stand unattended, to do a quick trip to a nearby restroom.
Clavat finished his hotdog in one gulp. Realizing that he cant use the same target now, began wondering on who he could try to go for next.
Figuring out on whom to use it is definitely pain in the neck

“I can tell quite a few,” Chester sighed.
“You aren’t mad, Chester?” Tom asked, sounding relieved.
“Mad? Well, I guess I am. It’s really crappy. Better tell everyone and maybe postpone this meeting.”
“Perhaps,” Azure agreed. “All of the members of our team are as important as the team whole.”
Suddenly, a third person came into the room, it was Pierre. He was wearing a backpack and held a juice box.
“Well, hello, you two. So I am guessing it’s just us three today?” He then quickly made his way onto a seat.
“What do you mean? Where’s Flora?” Chester probed.
“Well, funny that, she sent me a message telling me that she’s busy and won’t be coming today. Then said that she is thinking of doing talks another way. Something about Rose helping her, not entirely sure.”
This really surprised the hedgehog.
“Okay, I don’t like this.” He got of his seat and immediately went for exit. “C’mon, let’s check up on Barbie first. You coming too Pierre.”
“What? But we have school later!” Pierre complained.
“Don’t worry, it’ll be quick. I know a shortcut.”
“But we are leaving school premises!”
“Oh quit whining,” Chester waved him off, then turned to the cat, “You coming Tom?”
“Oh! Uh-Of course!”
The duo went out, Chester helping the guy by carrying his large bag. Azure followed right behind them. Pierre shook his feathery head and was thinking between leaving them or following.
A minute passed, and he chose to follow.

“There you go, one hot hotdog, for the last day up in this town.”
The young tiger man handed the good to the customer, before wiping the sweaty forehead with his cap. He then reached out to see how much more left. The handful he had was enough that he could empty it before the end of day.
“Say man, I know you said that you want to dance, but what makes you so sure you can do it?”
The young tiger looked at his customer, then pondered a bit.
“I mean, you don’t look that good, and you just started practicing…”
The tiger laughed, taking the things said in stride.
“Nah, I’ve been practicing all my life. I just liked to put it off. Honestly, I kinda came to this conclusion that, even if that doesn’t work, I should keep trying to go for it. You know, even if I am not sure about it, just do my damnest.”
“Sounds fun. See you several months later on the streets.”
“Shut your yap.” The tiger then laughed. He left the stand unattended, to do a quick trip to a nearby restroom.
Clavat finished his hotdog in one gulp. Realizing that he can’t use the same target now, began wondering on who he could try to go for next.
Figuring out on whom to use it is definitely pain in the neck…
