…
A young man strutted into the scene, with an odd looking rifle over his shoulder, and a smirk across his face. Meanwhile, Barbie was down on her fours still dazed, Tom just stood there, frozen in fear, and Pierre just watched dumbfounded.
“Who’s that?” Tom meekly asked Kage. His eyes would not move away from Clavat.
“Man it took too long for you two to get here,” The young man chuckled as he climbed from below of the hill they were standing by. He lifted the rifle from his shoulders and let it down with one hand, though instead hanging it on his side. “I’ve waited for so long, y’know. Especially for you, little blue kid!”
Chester couldn’t believe his eyes. That dude was here too!? Where did he come from? Where there more around the corner!?
This new factor nearly threw him off, as the Torque’s hand grazed the back of his head, making him quickly duck and roll away from him. The monster’s surface was tough to penetrate, and while it did stumble like a giant shelf would, the strike themselves were deceptively fast.
<Do not lose focus yet, Chester!> Azure told him from inside his head.
The monster swung again, which he blocked and yet it nearly knocked the warrior of his feet. He needed to somehow come up with a plan to deal with both of these things at once, and at least deal with them for now.
“I REALLY hoped to see you again.” Clavat laughed in mocking tone. “Hope you ready when your turn comes! But for now, let’s go with you, mister ninja.”
Tom’s entire body shook as the young man got closer. The more he stared at him, the less sense he made. He wasn’t looking anything he ever seen before, despite it being obvious tells like jungle attire or long blond hair. His movements, how he brought his feet one after another, how he raised the gun with one hand to point at him, how he pushed it forward enough to reach him point black to boy’s chest, how he smirked as he pulled the gun’s flint, were nothing like one was supposed to be. Each element of the guy’s body just wouldn’t make sense. It didn’t want to make sense.
He wasn’t even there.
“This won’t hurt a little,” Clavat said.
<Now!>
Tom’s arm pulled out his knife and quickly lunged towards the young man. Seeing how close the two were, getting in was almost too easy. Even the shot he heard came out second later by the time he was at the guy’s chest with a knife. He barely looked forward, and waited for the reaction of the knife connecting to finally dawn on him.
Instead, there was pain in his hand. A crushing pain.
“You really are fast, huh?” Grunted Clavat.
Tom’s eyes went wide from the shock. The guy actually caught him! The grip was monstrously strong, too. He already felt his hand losing feeling, and was about to keel over right then. Realizing he had to get out, he pulled on his hand.
It barely moved.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Clavat taunted, increasing the grip.
Tom closed his eyes, cringing from the pain, only to suddenly enter a trance. Before he knew, he was already several feet away from the guy, who stood there frozen from surprised.
“How did you- Slippery one, huh?” Clavat said, then shook off his empty hand. He then picked his rifle up. “Alright, let’s get down to business then. How about I-GAAHHH!!!“
He got launched into the air at large speed, steamrolled by the flying body of massive, wooden Torque. Both of them arched over the hill and then landed far and away below, into the brownish greens, giving a good amount of distance between them and the rest of the group.
”It worked!” Tom announced with an air pump, looking directly at Pierre and Barbie. Chester then ran in to them, looking worried.
“All of you okay?” He checked on them, and specifically Barbie.
“I’m fine…I think,” she once again checked her surroundings, “What happened to Zamarad?”
“Don’t worry. She should get back to-“ Chester felt Tom tap his shoulder. “What?”
“Kage said you should break this!”
Tom then handed him a stone, which was in his hand along with a dagger.
Chester grabbed it with interest. It looked familiar to him, and green in color. Chester felt weird about holding it, and yet, it was as if he knew what exactly was in it. They couldn’t have…? He crushed the brittle stone into dust with bare hand. As it trickled down it from both sides, he found the spirit of Zamarad suddenly appearing right in front of him.
The spirit jolted herself.
“Where am I?”
“Zamarad!” Barbie called for her spirit, who wasn’t exactly looking too good. There was confusion in her eyes, something that made Chester feel sick in his stomach. Those monsters have clearly found beyond terrifying.
But before anyone could do something further, they heard someone yell in the distance. Looking below the hill, the Torque was being pushed to the side like a giant cardboard box. The young man crawled away from it looking no worse for wear, but also extremely angry.
“Chester?”
Chester looked at Tom, and then at the rest of them. Having both of these monsters clearly put them in disadvantage, and they couldn’t simply fight them off. That meant that they had only one other solution.
“Do not get comfortable yet! Follow me!” He then grabbed both Barbie and Pierre, while motioning Tom to do the same to Zamarad.
“…How am I supposed to carry a ghost!?” Tom asked, dumbfounded.
<Try it,> Kage said to him.
“Huh?” Tom, somewhat awkwardly, picked Zamarad up like a roll of carpet on his side and began running right after Chester. “Where are we going?”
“We need a better vantage point!” He told them, then looked to his arm, “Pierre! Could you do something for me?”
A crowd from earlier had finally began catching up to the scene.
“Look, there they are!” One said, as they all began clumping right in front of them.
“All of you, get away!” Chester yelled.
“OH NO YOU DON’T!” Yelled Clavat, descending from the sky right above them rapidly. He was already catching up, and had his gun out at ready. There was no denying between any of the warriors that this guy was definitely a monster.
His shot then started raining all over the area, like hail made of steel.
“Ahh! Run!” The crowd then spread out in panic, trying to find cover from gunshots. Both Chester and Tom were panicking themselves, trying to not get hit by any of them as they increased their speed.
“AAAGH, What do we do!” Tom screamed. He barely was looking where he was going at this point, and would’ve nearly gotten lost if it weren’t for Chester pushing him from behind.
“Keep running, he’s a lousy shot!” Chester yelled.
“How do you know?” Tom looked at the former in terror.
“Azure told me!”
“You think I’m lousy!” Clavat yelled from above them, “Then how ‘bout you dodge this!”
He landed right in front of them suddenly. The two came to a halt. Not only did they double their speed of their enhanced bodies meant nothing, he barely looked like he broke a sweat doing it. He then swung his rifle forward, with a wide grin and took a shot at them from few feet.
He hit a tin can perpendicular to where everyone was standing.
“Wh- Crap, hold on! Dodge-“
As he pulled the trigger again, only for it to do nothing. He tried again, nada.
“Are you serious!? I just reloaded you!” He shook the weapon in his hand and listened to it. “Did something got stuck or, just give me a moment,” he looked right into the barrel. “It’s empty already? C’mon, I didn’t shoot that many! Here…” He checked his pocket, and found the bullets. “There we go! Now how about you-“
When he checked for everyone, he finally found the gone and once again, running off in the distance.
“HEY!!!”
In a single leap, he sent himself flying like a jet-powered rocket, and was already less than ten feet of them.
“Chester behind us!” Tom panicked.
“Prepare to di-“
The Torque made its appearance, once again, slamming right into him from behind, and somehow flying at even greater speed than the former.
“The monster!” Tom yelled and both of them dodge away, as the duo flew into a faraway distance, once again. In a way, Chester thought to himself, maybe they were actually pretty darn lucky.
“Follow me!” He called Tom once again and the two turned to another direction.
They were now closer to the center area of the town, something that made Tom feel confused for a bit.
“Aren’t there lots of people here? Shouldn’t we-“
“Just trust me!” Chester yelled out.
Coming to a sudden halt, he then began scanning around them.
“Ches- Azure?” Tom once again nudged him.
The blue warrior was silent for a moment, head spinning from one side to another.
“Don’t think we are done here!”
Soon enough, there came the evil young man. Alongside him, he dropped the large, clumsy wooden Torque to the ground.
He raised his rifle. “I may be lousy shot, but I am stronger than any of you brats! And this time, I ain’t gonna let any of you off!” He then pulled the flint again.
Suddenly, a flash of pink had slipped by his head. Clavat didn’t exactly realize what happened, until the monster’s cry was heard. It began glowing and then dissipated into an explosion of light and dark, thick clouds. Soon enough, there lied Mister Bearson, back to normal.
“Huh?” Clavat looked out in confusion.
Few more arrows landed right near him, making him dodge away. “Damn!” He looked up, and there stood Flora, body transformed into Rose, her bow at the ready.
Chester gave a smirk.
“Guess these brats are better than you in some way.”
