The Deserter I - Hooded Cloak
The main piece for a considerably sized commission for RisqueRawr that I was finally able to get shipped to them back in August.
This cloak features a generous hood with ears and several rows of scales that also feature along the cape's bottom edge. A simple double-ended button clasp fixed to the front below the hood allows for the option to keep the front ends together without having to hug yourself while wearing it.
I... learned a considerable amount whilst working on not only this piece, but the overall commission, itself. For one, I've learned that during the quotation stage I need to stress even more to the commissioner just how much the material costs can add up to, as the emphasis I've been trying to put on this so far has certainly not been enough to prepare a commissioner for how much an item could truly cost them. I've also learned that, as much as trying new things and experimenting with new techniques (or even something as simple as trying out a pattern I've never used before) is something I'm always going to do, it is not a professionally wise decision to offer these options to paying customers - for them, or for me. So, from here on out, the only crocheted products that will be available to commission from me will be ones that I have made before at least once for myself or a friend, which will allow me not only to be familiar with the pattern and the finished item, but also other variables like pricing and being able to better quote for materials required, as well as having a better knowledge of the kinds of materials required and any potential speedbumps that may occur along the way.
A huge thankyou once again to RisqueRawr for sticking with me on this project despite the difficulties on both ends. I know it wasn't a great commissioning experience and you have my sincerest apologies and thanks for everything.

Can you do a tutorial in how to do scales? I was making a dragon scarf for a friend and couldn’t figure it out.
