True Blue:
A Sonic the Hedgehog/PAW Patrol Crossover
Chapter 1
Adventure Bay wasn’t called “Adventure Bay” for nothing. It seemed every day brought forth a new challenge, most of the time in the form of Mayor Humdinger’s silly schemes. Thankfully they had something no one else did: the PAW Patrol. Led by the boy genius, Ryder, the brave dogs carried out their high stakes missions to keep their residents safe and sound. Guests were always welcome unless it was Mayor Humdinger, his nephew, Harold, the Copycat, or the Ladybird. Now the city was about to get a visitor they never imagined.
It started like any typical day. The sun was shining, the flowers were blooming, and Mayor Goodway was panicking over Chickaletta. “Chickaletta!” she shouted. “How did you get up there?” (Indeed, the chicken had somehow gotten up to the top of the town hall.) “Oh, dear; I need to call Ryder! That silly chicken knows she cannot fly! And why has it gotten windy all of a sudden?”
At the Lookout, Ryder was doing some maintenance on some of the pups’ pup-packs when his phone rang. “Hi, Mayor Goodway,” he greeted. “Is everything okay?”
“No, it isn’t,” Goodway replied. “Chickaletta’s up on top of City Hall again!”
“Do you know how or why she got up there?”
“No, but I do know that the wind keeps changing direction. It goes back and forth, back and forth! This is a total disaster!”
“Just stay calm! The PAW Patrol is on the job! No chicken is too high; no Mighty Pup is too small.”
“You want the Mighty Pups to save my chicken? Not just the normal pups?”
“I’m playing it safe. We don’t know who or what is causing that sudden wind.”
“Oh; good point.”
Ryder pulled the slider mechanism on his pup-pad to press the special button, and the picture changed to the Mighty Pup symbol. “Mighty Pups...to the lookout!” he called.
“Ryder needs us!” all the pups exclaimed in unison, and they excitedly ran to the lookout. Getting there was harder than usual, though, thanks to the sudden wind. “Whoa, dude! What is causing that?” Zuma exclaimed.
“I don’t know,” Chase replied, “but we have to get to the Lookout!”
All together, there were about five interruptions, but the pups were finally able to make it to the Lookout. They just weren’t able to enter the elevator without Marshall losing his footing, although that was because he tripped over the doorway. As a result, the pups rolled like bowling balls until they crashed into the elevator. When they got themselves to where they could stand again, Marshall commented, “Is this why Ryder always says, ‘PAW Patrol is on a roll?’“ The pups laughed as the elevator rose.
The elevator lifted the pups up to the top as the special mighty meteor went into effect, transforming the Lookout into the Mighty Pup version. Ryder donned his trademark flight suit, jetpack and all, as the pups found themselves in their superhero costumes. The pups howled with excitement as they arranged themselves into a line, and, as always, Chase announced, “Ruff! Mighty Pups ready for mighty action, Ryder, sir!” The pups’ front paws also began to glow.
“Thanks, pups!” Ryder replied. “This is going to sound weird, but I have my reasons for this. Originally Mayor Goodway called just because she needed our help getting Chickaletta to come down from the top of City Hall. Usually, that does not require us to be Mighty Pups. However, there is a strange wind blowing, and it keeps changing directions. This is not natural weather.”
“Do you think it’s Mayor Humdinger, Ryder?” Rocky asked.
“I don’t know, Rocky. I felt it was best to play it safe, and so I had you all be the Mighty Pups.”
“Understandable,” said Chase.
“Anyway, let’s first get Chickaletta down to the ground. For that part of the mission, I’ll need...Mighty Skye. I’ll need you to use your wings to get her down to the ground.”
“This Mighty Puppy’s going for a spin!” Skye announced as she flew up into the sky and started a whirlwind.
“The rest of you pups stand by; we’ll need to work together to determine what that strange wind is.”
“You can count on us!” the pups all shouted in unison.
“All right! Mighty Pups are on a roll!” Ryder jumped off the tower and launched himself into action as the pups slid down the special laser chute and into their mighty vehicles, which they used their glowing super paws to activate. Off they went towards the scene of the crime to save the day, and anybody not present at the train station who happened to be passing by as they drove to their duty gave them a big cheer. Skye was the exception in this case, since she was not using her mighty plane; she just flew with her powers.
