Sunday morning, some minutes before sunrise. Almost -1°C, in the beginnung of october.
Some minutes of hiking through the nightly forest before, as no roads lead to this place.
Once, there was a canal through the rural landscape. Steamboats delivered all kinds of goods back in the days, like the old Hedwig. Built in 1903, sunken twice during first world war, restored and used again... until she found her last owner in the late 50s. The old ship had her place in the nearby harbour, but when the last owner died and nobody showed interest in that rusty vessel, the authorities brought her to anotherr anchoring spot at the canal.
In the late 1960s, big changes were made in the landscape. The canal was abandoned, and everyone was bringing their ships out - only the old Hedwig remained there. The canal entrance was closed with a dam, the lakes turned into meadows. In the 1980s, the trapped vessel was declared officially ownerless.
Nothing has changed since.

(and yes, that tree is growing out of the wreck)
