Hot Rains/Nacrefalls 4/9 | Alien (Other) | Scenery
★ Side-Project ★
Maybe calling this creature a beast of burden is an overstatement, but technically it's right in the situation shown here. This is a bristletail jawagora and it's just come from a foraging dip in the sea, where giant clam larvae got caught up in its bristles. But they're not going to be out of the water for long: jawagoras like to graze, and the semi-aquatic species are no exception - it'll submerge itself long before the larvae dry out, and then the larvae can swim free in their new environment!
The bristletails foraged and hunted up- and down-stream for thousands of years. Steadily they introduced the clam larvae further and further up the volcano, much like this one's doing now, until quite without meaning to, they reached the peak.

Possible ret-cons: None for now. yellowopossum based the bristletail jawagora off spazzfur 's sketchwork of the bristletail jawagora and gave them a proper face and colours: green feathers and beautiful orange eyes. I'm happy with that!

Cheers! I'm surprised 'adorable' covers it but I'm glad you like it! There are a few more in this series.
They're definitely getting a little help! The bristletails have absolutely no idea they're contributing to such a big change in the environment.
It's a mystery even to nature itself :D Lots of fun to try and work out, though.
