For MtG's "Alchemy" (digital-only) set. I didn't know this was going to be a digital-only piece (it was commissioned for a different set but got moved, as sometimes happens), and I'm definitely a bit bummed since I think this would've made a nice looking physical card and my only red one so far at that. Still, always happy for the opportunity to paint more dragons!

It would've been great for those things, but just a standalone print of this is definitely worth it! Love the details on the scales and the lighting. Such great work as always!
Thank you so much! And yeah I'm sure it'll work pretty well as a print :)!
You're welcome! Oh it definitely well, I mean all your drawings are all print worthy! Lol, keep up the great work!
This is absolutely amazing work, as always!
For some reason, the rendering on those rocks is so satisfying. * v *

Thank you! I had fun with the rocks, I used photos of Peekaboo Canyon for reference!
I would definitely have gotten this if it had been on a physical card! Very lovely!
Absolutely gorgeous work! The parent just emerging from the cave is just beautiful, i'm really enjoying comparing the two to see how a youngster compares to its ma or pa. Well done!
Oh wow those are in the same style as the ones Lockwood did in the draconomicon. They look fantastic!
That's high praise, I love Lockwood's work. Thank you very much!
I always worry I might be pressing g too far to tell someone I compared their art to someone, I am overjoyed you understand!
Bet the mother is saying to herself...
"Yes! The peppers work!"
"Yes! The peppers work!"
I always remember that time when someone told me about the nesting dragon card that can give a dragon egg token if you give it a red mana, like you give the dragon a shelter so she can bring her youngs into the world. I found the logic behind the game design very poetic. and this illustration is kinda the sequel of it.
Really good job on that piece.

Incroixable! O:
The little one is super cute, but having the parent behind them makes them kinda scary, all the same. :}===<

Huh, I guess this IS your first red card. I think it's gorgeous, and I wish I could have it on a physical card, too. I especially like that look in the whelp's eyes like "Cease your shenanigans, I'm going to bring my friends and then you'll pay!" It's like a combination of fierceness in the maw and playfulness in the eyes, as if this dragon enjoys having an excuse to flaunt power. The looming and not-very-subtle dragon in the back of the cave is a good illustration of what this card does, and it almost feels like a bit of protectiveness, like "What's the matter? Are you not scared by my offspring? Do you really want to know what happens if you don't at least act frightened?" It's this expectant yet protective glare.
Also, on a side note, good rocks. I don't do well with rock formations, myself, so I really appreciate it when somebody does them right. I can even say the same about the meticulous scale patters on both figures.

I have a red-white card (Regal Leosaur) but yes, this is my first mono-red! And I don't think there are going to be any more red cards from me for the foreseeable future.
Thank you so much for the lovely comment! The rocks were fun to do; I mainly used Peekaboo Canyona as reference.

Was this originally intended for Adventures in the Forgotten Realms?
Also, "Rawr, I'm a dragon!"

fantastic and tedious work with the dragon scales, looks awesome!
This instantly reads as a WotC style Dragon! I love the cute little Wyrmling and the adult in the background. :D
Oh man this would have made such a nice physical card, I think it would also make an AWESOME playmat since the dragon in the cave and the detailing. Beautiful work~
It will never cease to amaze me the amount of money wizards puts out for absolutely amazing artists. Great work!
Yessss I love how you've portrayed the Reds so faithfully! I hope you get to do more and in physical form too!
this is beautiful and im also bummed that i wont be able to use it in a Physical deck
I love the shadow rendering, the hatchling’s wings poss & the mother lurking as backup~
Equally cute and threatening. Really great piece, the scale pattern is so well done!
This is adorable! The fire looks great, and I love that big adult lurking in the background. These are DND style reds, yes? You did a great job with them!
