There are two types of cities: where they pay on the way in and where they pay on the way out. It has always been a mystery to me on what principle this has historically formed.
It's a mystery. When I got on the bus in another city, I was surprised that they demanded payment from me when I had just sat on the seat
Both make sense based on context.
Pay getting off: You have time to get exact change out without holding up the bus in traffic.
Pay getting on: Makes sure people don't try to get a free ride.
So it really comes down to how traffic heavy a place is and how trust worthy the regular riders are.

For the most part, it was strictly tied to tradition in the city, not some kind of logic. Roughly speaking, it was just random. I've been to many cities in Russia, and here the payment, even in close cities, varies.
In my city, there's two types of busses. In municipal ones you pay at the entrance, in commercial ones everyone pays at the exit (in some of which there is a piece of paper with text "payment at the entrance" and the speakers at each stop are playing "Уважаемые пассажиры, <...> просим оплачивать проезд при входе в автобус <...>").
I think, it's mostly depends on how bus workers are used to get paid. I tryed to pay in getting on in the commercial ones (as the speakers say), but they just forget that you have payed when you getting off :D.

It reminded me of the never-used tickets on the little buses. They're just nailed to the wall, there's a "take a ticket" sign hanging there, but absolutely no one ever takes these tickets, because the driver already remembers everyone xD There were even scuffles when the driver knew for sure that someone did not pay and he said that no one would go anywhere until they found someone who decided to go for free. Circus.
Where I am it has always been some theme of paying when you get on. These days it's more tap on and tap off with a smart card/phone.
My city, until recently, did both, depending on the route and time of day. They finally decided to go with way in across the board in the last 3 years.
I think you will look the same when you are suddenly woken up while driving :D

Pittsburgh was similar: Pay on outer edges. Outside going in, you paid when boarding. Inside going out, you paid on exit.
They've now gone flat-fare, pay on entry, and NFC fare card allowed.

In our city, there is still no way to pay with a card or NFC, only coins or mobile banking ((((
transfer of money from a card to a card with a mobile phone number
Well that's life
And to be honest everyone shall earn for their bread
So it is a good deed that he waited for the driver to be awake

i really love her belly ^-^'

I"m surprised she can still sit down after eating that spicy food :y
I kinda wish to see Joyce get fucked in a Bus xD

Would you mind if I posted this in r/hmmm ? And link back to you?
The double take at her being the driver makes it perfect there

Wow, those fangs are scary, I thought she was going to bite him for waking her up, that's what happens for having a lot of sex during the week, the next day she can't XD. I love her face in the second panel 😂 .
I feel like the set up of this joke fell flat.
Okay, so, the reveal of "Oh she's the one DRIVING the bus, that's the joke!" so I get that part. Unless the joke is that she's bad at her job? Which according to the picture, she is, but... Yeah, the joke didn't really land.
Did she fall asleep at the stop? If so, then why wake her up at all? You could say "To be polite", but the person waking her says "It's YOUR stop" but if she's the bus driver, it wouldn't be "her" stop.
It appears the bus is also not in motion? I could be wrong, but I get that impression. So, once again, how can her stop be missed if the bus isn't in motion? I looked at it again, and it's definitely not in motion. The unseen character isn't reacting to that so I think it's a safe assumption to make they're not moving.
I think if you wanted the joke to land, it should say "Uhh... Miss? Aren't you going to drive the bus?" or something -like- that. Then the punchline is funnier.
I think the set up for the joke failed, but it could have worked. I still think it's amusing, though. Not saying it's bad. Just has a set up that doesn't work.

I'm not saying it's not funny per se, but the set up wasn't done well. So it can be considered funny, but not a well told joke.

30 Rubles, how cheap is that fare?!
totally different here in germany xD

In Moscow 60 rubles. The average salary in Russia is about 500$ , so everything is learned in comparison.
Bruh...I frickin lose it when I see the end panel.
WAIT SHE WAS THE DRIVER?! DA SKILLS!

"I want to die peacefully in my sleep like my grandfather, not screaming in terror like his passengers."
Payment of bus fares on the way out? I've never experienced that for cash fares. The closest I've ever got to that is the "tag on, tag off" Snapper payment cards we use on buses and trains in Wellington.

Second panel face, when you've just been punished to walk this damned world again.
In America you have to pay to get on the bus, and no matter where I am I'd have to pay to get off...
gorgeous work
first day at the job after a long vacation and you are not fully there .... or a very long night out :P

Oh you pay with money? We have to buy tickets and season tickets even before you decide to go with a bus or any form of public transport. It's so exciting to hear how other countries work :o , nice artwork as always c:
Am I the only concerned that the bus was in motion while she was sleeping?
