(Commission) A Proud Lady
A commission that was a unique challenge to me, from Remus the Werewolf! The detail in this was a bit daunting, and I became keenly aware at how lacking my knowledge of modern cruise ships is. I've always preferred those from the early 1900s, but you know, having drawn this, I'm quite happy that this exists, and that the two in this picture had themselves a fun time!

that is because cruise ships didn't exist in the early 1900s... what you are referring to are ocean liners which is an entirely different breed from cruise ships because they were build with 2 very different philosophies in mind.
cruise ships are build for pleasure cruises hence why they offer all the amenities that you'd expect from a hotel and resort area.
ocean liners were primarily build to transport people across the oceans, with pleasure amenities reserved for the wealthy elite. most common people on the other hand were far more limited in amenities they had available to make the voyage pleasurable. in fact, it was not uncommon for those traveling as third class, which was the cheapest and the most common way to travel, to supply their own cutlery and kitchen utensils. food was provided for third class passengers, yes, but if you didn't bring your own food bowl and cutlery your only option was to eat out of your own hand... literally...

A misuse of terms, though I'm sure you caught my intention in any case. I just don't like these modern ships of recreation. They just sort of look like cumbersome, bloated, floating apartment complexes.
i didn't realize XD
but i agree, the ocean liners of the past were prettier to look at that than modern day cruise ships. at least in the exterior
