Had a bit of time where I focused particularly on portraiture TF sequences. Most of the time, portrait TFs are what I do when I want to get a TF done quick and dirty, focusing on the most recognizable aspect of a given character and slapping it out as fast as possible. It's a good way to get a certain TF mood/crush out without committing too much time to it.
These portraits were a bit different. For one, I did them as four steps instead of the usual three, allowing for some more granularity in the TF process. I also spent much more time working out and considering the expressions and anatomical details of the sequence. Basically, I treated the portrait sequence as a proper piece in of itself, rather than just a means of getting a TF down quick.
Folks often tell me that my expression work is a strength of my art, so I definitely leaned into that here. I think the results are quite strong.

A spark of anger flares up into pure electrical rage.
Alternate title - YOU SHOULD TF YOURSELF... NOW!
A portrait TF/TG of Surge the Tenrec, from the Sonic the Hedgehog IDW comics.
Took a lot of cues from the most recent issue 56 for this one, which has some fantastic effects and color work going on. That's where I based the look of the background and "fuzz, as well as the pink overlay coloration.
At first the electric bolts coming from the eyes were separate from one another and only steps 2 onward, but Rhodes mentioned how they made an almost unbroken connected throughline, so I decided to make it official. Feels like it helps tell a story through the sequence.
I like Surge. She is all sorts of messed up and damaged and she's going to make it everyone else's problem. I think that's highly relatable. Especially the killing Sonic part :D
