Anybody know where I can rent a badger?
First flush of oyster mushrooms grown in a bag-lined contractor bucket on a pasteurized substrate of softwood sawdust and mixed bird seed, ratio completely guesstimated—it's just to add some extra nutrition to the mix. To be absolutely clear: first flush. There's (hypothetically) much more to come. Humidity was provided by an ultrasonic humidifier feeding into a transparent tent, open around the bottom to allow gas exchange. Prior to fruiting, gas exchange was via a hole in the bucket lid with a single layer of paper towel to shield the mycelium from unwanted spores and bacteria (coffee filter might work better). 'Spawn' was mycelium from a spent home grow block of the sort that contains nowhere near enough substrate or water to (normally) return the cost of investment. You can only propagate this way so many times, but successful growth means that spore print propagation is an option.
You can do this easily and inexpensively. It ain't rocket surgery, folks; it's mycology.
