She had a lot to say! (Right after washing the blood off and a quick change of clothes)
I love the darker baxxid on the left looks so upset its hilarious
Good to know nell is sticking up for kalgkur
Using the baxxids worst fear against them. Embarrassment
Also the fact nell called kalgkur a sweet boy melted my heart

The fact their eyes are big and round just sells the expression even more.
Well she couldn't realistically threaten to kick their asses, soooo...
No facial expression but you can just FEEL the utter shock and disbelief coming from those last two panels xD
Dammit, they need to implement the option to favorite comments!
Before the entire cave crumbles under the sub-sonic vibrations they loose x3
I love this pairing so much >w< I hope it goes well for them in the end ^w^
Them too :3 but I was referring to the merchant and the new guard >w<
Probably also in the middle of the night, ninja-style, without them noticing until one of them comments about a growth of phallic shaped objects growing on their faceplate/carapace...
Or have her holding a sharpened jackhammer as they cower...
Well ... it's your story ... you made her say it ... maybe somewhere deep inside you want to draw it just because it's such a goofy thing ;P
The REAL question is, would it be a regular pattern all pointed in one direction? Would they be in alternating rows to make them tessellate? Or just completely random in all directions?
Ten dicks times 4-6 cut and pastes, the rest of them are on the other side of the faceplates.
.... Is this... Not something every artist ends up doing at some point.... Oh God am I the weird one here? How many dicks is too many? WHAT HAVE I BECOME
Its called copy and paste for a reason. Once you get them all set mess with a few here and there then bam! 100 dicks!
Kalghur has a hell of a character witness, at least. And she does have a point: Whatever the Baxxid think about violence, a) The guy FAFOed around with a giant boneworm, and b) he was part of a plague of thieves hitting the marketplace. Think they'll be so casual next time they see a Baxxid guard around? From the merchants' perspective, Kalghur did them all a HUGE favor.
If he was a human who exploded a dude for thievery then there woulda been no problem!
Oh, it'd be hilarious if after all the Baxxid angst about violating the violence taboo toward humans, the actual humans gather a mob to... throw Kalghur a party in gratitude for finally putting an end to the thief problem in the merchant's square. How about that for messing with their minds? 🤣
Cats are good creatures because their happiness makes them vibrate
Now SHE is an absolute legend. <3<3<3

That feeling when a girl you just met brings her engraving hammer to an argument
If you have a loved one that will threaten someone several times her size with one on your behalf, you know you've found THE ONE. <3
Eh, 60/40. You can also just get some absolute crazies like that. It's one indicator of worthiness tho!
But I would chisel one hundred dicks,
and I would chisel one hundred more,
just to be the woman who chiseled two hundred dicks
to save that baxxid boi.

If your friend won't semi-permanently alter someone's face in your defence are they even your friend
Oh my god, their shock! I love these last two panels so much.
I'm really glad! Anytime I have a full panel or two dedicated to just reactions, I reeeally hope it lands well.
Yeah, you're really good at this. As others have pointed out before, you manage to make expressive a species that is physically incapable of displaying facial expressions.
Oh I'm SO happy she's not afraid of him... I mean I'm sure there'll be some of that later, but not so much as to see him as a monster
"Surely she would not defile our faces in such a vulgar fashion!
"...r-right?"
"...r-right?"
"As the Humans say, 'The ball is in your court,' Elder. -whatever a ball is."
I feel like the Elder would absolutely know what that means, and probably say the Baxxid equivalent of, "Fuck."
"Also why is there a ball in court, isn't that where the judicial system works"
*v*
Also the teos expressions, being so amazingly portrayed for not being able to show facial expressions is utter beauty

It was kinda hard at first but I think I've got it down by now!
This has made my day. Go girl. Protect that lovely gentle noodle!
Those last two panels made me smile so much that I told my normie friend on the phone all about this comic just so I could explain the glee I felt at this comic. Thank you for the work you do.
Ha haaa, awesome, thanks for sharing it with your friend!
I'd been looking forward to doing those two panels for a whiiiile now.

Yep. Pretty much what everyone was hoping for. She understands and forgives him, because methinks the liking between 'em may well be mutual.
Also, just the look of absolute shock in the last two frames is absolutely insane and, tbf, kinda adorable.

Thank you, I needed the laugh. Those last two panels had me cracking up.
That's a lot of dicks. Still doesn't beat my record on the lockers at my old high school though
If Kalgkur was around to hear this, he'd be so happy to hear that Nell does not think any less of him and understands that while it was an accident on his part, she's thankful that he did it to protect her, and even if it was extrajudicial on his part, he's rid the town of a repeat offender thief, and it would make many think twice about stealing from now on!
Please let Kalgkur live...
Please let Kalgkur live...
Hey it's outta my hands, I can't just decide if he lives or dies! :V
I love this page. So much. Definitely worth the random fave.
Very interested to see how things go from here.

Having penis engravings on you is a mark of embarrassment to baxxid kind, especially of foreign species.
I am SO happy she is on his side
And I didn't expect to laugh in the middle of this serious and genuinely anxious section of the story, well done

Leftie: "Mmmmnnn-pleasssse do nnnnot do thissss..."
I imagine it's not easy, but the way you portray their emotions is pure gold. X3
love how the baxxid on the right's jaw has yet to come off the floor as they both are processing her threats. she'd probably do it too, be a hell of a job but they'll be the finest dicks for all to see
"She wouldn't!"
"She's down here; she probably would!"
"I don't want to find out. Send someone to get Elder Varakses!"
"She's down here; she probably would!"
"I don't want to find out. Send someone to get Elder Varakses!"
I feel like the expression may not only be from what she said....but they fear she could do it...
This page is amazing.
I really hope when the elder shows up, she's already wrapped around one of their heads with the chisel. Like a cat throwing a hissy-fit.

The only threat she could realistically carry out: vandalism.
Think about it, that'd be like shaving a cock into someone's hair, or drawing a cock on their face with permanent marker that somehow takes months to fade away.
Never take the threats of a smith lightly, they pummel metal for a living.

Yup, threatening to kick their ass wouldn't be nearly as realistically threatening
You'd figure predicting the next scene would be boring but it's actually the best.
In defense of "The Good Boy" Nell would indeed chisel many dix into 'yo face!
I can barely picture this in my head, and it ALL looks hilarious A.F. xD You go gurl !!

Someone on 4chan made a really good drawing of it, gotta see if I can see if they posted it anywhere permanent
All i hear is the response of ''OOOOOOOOHHHHHH MYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY"
I have no proper ears to cover and i must scream.
Wait, I can scream !
Those bottom two panels are golden

Hmmm.
I see Nell having a very short conversation with Elder Varakes, and getting her way. And I see Nell standing at Kalgur's side during his test.
And finally, I envision Nell wearing a gold sash with a red and blue stripe: a human who is a True Friend and Companion to the Baxxid.

The fact that you are able to convey such emotion from these critters that have no capacity to make facial expressions is incredible.
Oh my god yes! I was hoping for THIS kinda crazy not to mention this is a very interesting time for the Baxxid. Facing the very human concept of humans accepting some level of.....correct times to go ham on someone. Also dun fuck with humans or the revenge always comes down to dicks being involved in the plot.
the stony features can be so expressive, you can tell the shock in her motions
Yeah, I'd make that face as well. That's a serious threat. The thousand dick curse is no joking matter.
I can imagine the last two panels are the baxxid equivalent of looking back at your entire life and wondering what you did to reach this exact moment and figure out if time travel were possible to correct such a terrible timeline from occurring.
Good to see Nell recovered from that incident, and that her....'opinions' mirrored some of ours regarding it. XD
I also like how, regardless of whether one speaks common or the baxxid language of pseudo-bagpipes, shock at a statement is universal.
I also like how, regardless of whether one speaks common or the baxxid language of pseudo-bagpipes, shock at a statement is universal.
The best part is that such a threat, if actually performed, would be orders of magnitude more terrifying to a baaxid than more traditional forms of assault. Others would see. Others would TALK about how they had to have the dicks etched off of their face, bleached in shame.
"Surely she can't be THAT insisten-"
"She has threatened to carve male genitalia into the guards faceplates...and she has a precision rock-pick hammer with her, Elder"
"By the ancestors..."
"She has threatened to carve male genitalia into the guards faceplates...and she has a precision rock-pick hammer with her, Elder"
"By the ancestors..."
Our customs do not account for someone who will not take 'no' for an answer.
I'm very glad that's her response, response and persistence. You tell em' girl!
I wonder if the right guard in the last panel (maybe unconciously) imagines what the dark one would look like once she'd be done chiseling.
Yeah... Kalgkur's stream of consciousness through the incident seemed familiar to me. I've been in accidents, and I've had anger put my consciousness in the passenger seat, and the thought process of that impalement read exactly like an accident; trying to scrabble for control over something it's too late to prevent. If that was Nell's impression, then I'm inclined to believe it, even if Kalgkur doesn't. I'm guessing he didn't feel he had the right to raise that point in his defence, but then again maybe this is less about justice than it is about a 'reformed' apex predator getting a taste of blood. Protocols or not, I do hope he can enter this trial knowing that Nell's horror was for him, not of him.
Somehow they have no expression and yet it reads as totally shocked and speechless expression at the same time.
Oh thank Arceus... the poor goober doesn't deserve punishment, it seems like it was a genuine accident with no malice involved, beware the chiselled dicks otherwise.
Congratulations lady, you just got a race of... Bug people, to have facial expressions just for you. I love this comic!
Well that’s very good. Along with his shame of having killed someone in a lack of restraint he was worried he’d scared her. So this can help.
"Calculation of pros and cons of having a hundred dicks carved on one's faceplate status:
...IN PROCESS..."
With Nell's luck she'd manage to threaten the lone two in the city who are totally into that
I love how weirdly expressive the Baxxid are for not having any facial muscles, it gives me life
Not to mention that Karen brought a hammer this time.
Even funnier if they don't know what a human one looks like and are going by their own probably significantly different looking ones.
Oh boy did I laugh at that threat. XD
Kalgkur struck gold with that lady. ^^
Kalgkur struck gold with that lady. ^^
Damn! XDD
Oh I just noticed that while the gray one turns to face the other the black one seems to be perfectly still, showing just how utterly shocked they both are
Considering what they’re like one can only imagine how they’d feel about such a threat! XD

Fun fact, i found out about that particular detail long after i picked the species xD
But yeah, if you know, you know ;)

The shocked looks on their faces in the last two panels, fuckin' beautiful! XD
She has the drive, she has the tools, do not TEST this woman or upon you a thousand etched cocks she may bestow!
I liked this character before, now I adore her. And how she refers to dear Klagkur as "Sweet Boy" after the accidental evisceration? She was in the potential splash zone for it! Oh I love this, this isn't "good" storytelling, this is Lore-Master levels of story.

Heya, OOPs fans! I'm here to remind you yet again that there's a place called "Top Web Comics" https://www.topwebcomics.com/?home=3 that compiles comics from various places. There's a bunch of cool stuff there. They have monthly votes, so you can support OOPs there. You can vote once a day per device, so your PC, laptop, tablet, phone, etc.
I've noticed that you can sometimes even get in extra votes from different IP addresses, or if you're disconnected from your IP and open up again later.
It closed out last month at 1019 votes and 40th place. It's currently at 719 votes and 36th place. The highest it's reached is 36th place, and the top vote getters seem to end up with something close to 20,000 votes.
Vote early, vote often! Help OOPs get noticed!

I think this is the closest we have seen to an expression on the face of the baxxid
The fact she brought her hammer to cement the threat in is priceless!!
The fact she brought her hammer to cement the threat in is priceless!!
If she'd just threatened 30 or so, it wouldn't have been as frightening
You're absolutely right. It wouldn't be the same thing at all. With 100, you know she really means business. She's really committing there.
I'm wondering if she could get a side job chiselling designs onto Baxxid's like a tattoo artist?
Like one asks for a floral design on a claw, or a smiley face on their forehead, etc

Wait, is that 100 on both of us or like 50 or so each?
Like that she even brought a chisel hammer.

I love how their emotion is so well portrayed even though they have no facial expressions.

Oddly, I am not at all suprised.
I expect that a lot of folks are more excepting of the Baxid being what they are than the Baxid expect.
Might just be that they are used to things happening slower than how everyone else lives.

It's a real commitment, too, that's not something you can do on a drive-by
Glad to see she's a believer in the ancient and noble philosophy of "Yeah but like, fuck that one guy, seriously"
Oh man, the slack-jawed baxxid response in those last two panels is priceless.
Oh my god those last two panels would make such an amazing reaction image haha
safjksahkjfa the Baxxids just going D: in the final panel is sending me
To blend such a grim, serious and maybe even spooky situation with such silliness to follow, you are a very talented story teller xD
iirc Val Salia is a merchant town/trade center or something similar, so I was wondering what the reaction to this would be. I can't imagine a drunk thief is particularly high in the social ladder, also I got the feeling that the Baxxids care more for human life than the humans themselves do.
So far we've only gotten two human reactions from this incident and both were not "fear the baxxid" reactions. Gotta wonder if the the rest of the humans will be afraid or will just be like "well that happened I guess" *moves on with their day*

It seems Baxxids are not used to aggression so much - they seem endlessly self-conscious of being seen as murder worms, but fine with being an intimidating presence at times - but not proud of it.
They are delightfully timid, gentle and not emotionally prepared of the threat of a hundred dicks.

Nell's creative and lewd threat is like something Moist Critikal would say. Good to see she had recognized it as an accident and is sticking up for Kalgkur. I feel like if he had killed that guy and immediately went back to having a conversation like it was nothing, then maybe thing's would've turned out different.
Also, I'm definetly on board with everyone else. Those expressions on the last two panels are absolutely perfect. I especially love how the dark one holds his claws up as if to say "not my faceplate!" I don't believe I've said it myself yet, but you certainly are good at capturing multiple expressions from creatures that cannot physically move their facial features.

*shock*

The multiple non-human peoples you have created are amazingly easy to imagine. Their reactions, cultures, etc, while alien, are so deep and complex.
It's clear you've been working a long, long time on this, before you ever put pencil to paper, even.
No facial expressions, but the body language is pure shock and embarrassment.

Logic vs Life/Loyalty/Love
Baxid are so keen on discarding their "Raw" emotions in pursuit of "Logic" but in the end keep trying to abandon what they actually are, so when they have breaks in this new way of thinking and trying to "Forget tradition exists" it seems unweildy or uncouth.
Least that's what I've been getting at the comic as it progresses, along with prior backstory or comic pages such as "Baxid used to be terrifying nomads till humbled by human's ingenuity" "While it's polite to wish me with unblunted claws good hunting, never say this in "Polite" baxid society" "Oh god why can't you just let us drink the sun in peace why are you so dead set on emotional attachments?" "Watching you create art is amazing, something I could never do given that all I see is materials, but you see magic"
To me just seems to be in the direction of "Baxid try to escape their old past but become shells of what they were" when so far Kalg seems to be the mix of old and new traditions, a proper balance per say

Hehe. The shocked look on that left one in those last two panels there is hilarious to me. I love how they use gestures with those front scythe-like arms for a lot of their expressions.
The brilliant and captivating story aside,
I must applaud you for paying such close attention
to the individual baxxid bone crest configuration!
Nell's threat may be scandalously intimidating,
but I can absolutely see the emergence
of grooving pattern-etching parlors
servicing the baxxid who appreciate
a more ornate texture of their face plates
and murderclaws.
And who knows? Perhaps the complementary
mosaic pattern of human phalluses
will take that market by storm
at one point...
Poor Kalgkur! Forced to sulk noticeably despite belonging to a species
who embrace and embody sulking, skulking and stalking
as their body language base...
The mortified guards are the heart of hilarity!
Their internal panicked shrieks of outrage
remind me of Kassen's reaction
in final panel of this page.

A bit of an interview-mode aside: do you own your current stratospheric level of popularity
and the size of your maniacally loyal and inquisitive audience,
or are you reeling from the pressure that such interest brings?
Are you perhaps hungry for more popularity power,
and only view this current metrics of recognition
as a ramp towards the eventual ascension
to an even greater reach of readership?

What they lack in the faceparts they make up in body language!
NeeeeEEEEEeellllll! XD <3 Ahhhhhh I squeed!
Also, the CULTURE SHOCK, so I LOL'ed.
So much going on here with this little chapter! Nell is a fine example of how so many Val Salians seem ... hardened to the harsher aspects of life. Well, the human residents, at least. Also, how cosmopolitan they are. And how honey badger. Getting all up in an apex predator's face, haha. Imagine a human woman telling off a fifty foot crocodile.
I'm also glad for a little more context regarding the thief. Before this page, we only had two frames to judge the poor bastard. Common dress, no outstanding features. We can't see his face in the first frame. Second frame, his expression is ... determined, but also wide-eyed, as though he just realized how badly he screwed up, stealing something so valuable in plain sight of a Baxxid guard. Rookie mistake. Definitely not a professional. But he doesn't back out of his larceny, even when faced with such a threat. That suggests either foolhardiness or desperation. If it's the former, well, that's certainly one way to win the Darwin award. But if it's the latter, one has to wonder about the motive and the circumstances.
Stealing is bad, don't get me wrong. But based on available data surrounding the incident, I have doubts that the thief's actions warranted the death penalty. It's reassuring to hear testimony from Nell about how she believes the Darwin award was deserved.
Then again, Nell may be a bit biased. <3

I'm catching up. The last two panels... I can hear the gasp, even though they probably aren't gasping.
