I don’t have a lot of time today for a fully colored in drawing, so I figured I’d share some of the method/insight I’ve gathered in my drawing experiences so far. This is the method I use to get from an initial pose very rough to something that has a firmer line. When I’m working on setting a scene I will take a character and do rough squiggly lines as an outline in order to get them in the position I want.
Once I feel like the rough squiggly lines look like they are in about the right place I start erasing the lines I don’t want, and thickening the lines I do want. I always start too large and work smaller, just because I find that easier to have too much then take it away. This is also the point where I start posing a tail if the character has one.
At the third stage I continue cleaning up and readjust eye positioning until I’m happy with it and try to add in little details like bending points.
