Continuing what I started previously, now it is time to add clothing and shading.
For clothing, I use example pictures of outfits online as reference because I’m not good enough to just make up clothing beyond t-shirt and pants. Hang the clothes over the frame and think about how gravity or body position would move the fabric. I’m currently just using basic outlines of shapes for this as drawing actual cloth effects is a challenge I’ll be getting to later.
After I have the character dressed, I start adding in shading. I used to do this with a softer pencil and then a finger, but now that I’m using a tablet I’m able to do it without leaving finger prints around my room.
Once you have your shading set with the hard lines you created, you can erase some of them and let the shade leave the shape instead of having a hard line in that place.
