My contribution to the RARE 2012 Anthro Calendar and the theme of this years calendar is: Mythological Anthros.
I got to draw the Great Dragon.
I spent a long time researching for the origin of the mythology and since it has so many different beginnings and corners, the 'true' depiction of the Great Dragon would be by far not as imposing as this one.
Therefore I decided for the archetype of the dragon and made it a tad bigger.
You can pre-order the calendar until September 30th for a price of 20$ (+8$ international shipping). For ordering and more information visit our official website: http://ashalind.com/anthrocalendar/ordering.html

I really like the landscape! There's something... missing from the dragon, though. It looks good, but having seen your previous work, I'm sure you could do better. It looks like a WIP that's about 85-90% done.
The central line along the underside of the neck, the chest and the belly doesn't quite line up, and the chest and head look a little flatter than the rest of the creature, as though the light from the light source didn't quite reach that high.
If it's already been sent for printing and the client's happy with it, I guess you can't really do anything about it. I'm not saying it's bad! It just looks as though you got a little bored with finishing it and you didn't quite maximise your potential.

i like the idea of the dragon flapping its wings ones & the whole forest is gone.
Ooooo I love it! Dragons are almost always naturally imposing!
As usual you have lots of nice details both on the dragon and the landscape!

Did you mask in a photographic tree texture? If so really skillfully done. You must be swamped with work.
This is darn beautiful work, the sense of scale you convey with this guy is incredibly imposing and impressive. :)
please do :)
the more interest, the more likely they are to keep doing it!!

Oh wow I love the scale on this. I can imagine standing at the bottom of the mountain (or one of them) and just looking up and this vast thing just fills your vision.
This large mountain is actually censoring my glowing crotch! XD
I love the pic though, but that's what popped into my brain first. ^^'

First thing that popped into my head was he might be stimulating himself with it!!
"Great Dragon" is the only way I could possibly think to describe that. Gorgeous!
this looks nothing like me D:
ok so maybe there is a bit of a likeness.......

Dang, I'm too used to seeing your art and Foxamoore's stuff go hand and hand, I went stright to the comments to see if there was a track to listen for while I was looking at the pic xD
I absolutely love your rendition, and the varying light levels showings off the translucency of the wings looks really nice. I like your use of saturation as well as the composition to draw the viewer to the focal point of the piece.

Hi! Did you receive the note I sent you via FA? It doesn't seem to've been read yet...
that's a HUGE dragon allright.... If I'd be standing in that valley, I'd shit my pants instantly.... this is some great work, the landscape is marvellous but that dragon is the crown jewel
*unf!* Take THAT mountain! Yes...you're a dirty, dirty mountain.
Very nice! I love the clouds: so thick you can feel 'em.
Awesome! Suprised no1 asked... What would a "great dgon" look like, then? I am interested in what your research gave you an idea of? I mean, dragons are in many origin stories as creating entire lands or planets, others devouring the planet at the point of rapture or rebirth.
Care to elaborate?

Wow Man!! That is pretty freaking epic!!! I love Dragons and you drew this one beautifully!! Keep up the awesome work!!!!
That is a BIG dragon! This piece is awesome composed :)
"a tad bigger" WTF XD This creature could gulp a whole village in one bite. I really like the 'classical' dragon design and I like how you shaped the maw (it's kind of unusual, but it reminds me on the Sliver creatures from MtG). What amazes me way more than the dragon though is the surrealistic landscape! You improved a lot since your last images with comparable backgrounds (especially the fading effect in the distance).
I'm such an addict for cool surrealistic landscape art <3

What a big fella! :D
Very impressive design and size comparison to the mountains. :)

I wanted to say that I am no fan of loud things anymore first off but when I realized the moss was more than a single forrest I kinda was witnessing my mind changing in front of my eyes. hum. you made it ;3
that critter might not even KNOW of insects.
anyway, what I wanted to say was that I liked your comment more than the picture... Ill find back to that notion eventually ~
