Just a little something i made in photoshop as the avatar for this group.
The idea behind this group is to promote the fact that evolution is not "just" a theory. It is one of the highest achievements in science, the fact that we fully understand the process how we and all other animals on this world came to be.
There shouldn't be a debate about this. It is not just a theory. It is a demonstrable fact.
We are all highly evolved beings. So let's be proud of that!

Evolution is as much a fact as gravity. I.e. it's demonstrable but we cannot say 100% that it is fact.
so you cant say for 100% that a pen would fall down when you drop it?
the theory is rock solid today. there isnt really anything that could completely falsify it. because its core principle, change over time, is an observable fact.

Gravity is not just relevant to what we see on Earth as objects falling, think macroscopic. You have innumerable objects in the galaxy and we can predict the way they move, but we don't know why. There's no such thing as anti-gravity. You can observe and predict the phenomena of objects accelerating to the center of the Earth's mass, but with no explanation you have no fact.
the earth and a pen pulling at each other isnt really all that different from two planets pulling at each other or two galaxies.
we dont know a 100% how exactly it works yet but that doesnt change that gravity itself is a fact.
the same counts for evolution. we dont know everything about the process yet as well but the theory is solid enough to call genetic change over time through slight genetic variations a fact.
both the theory about gravity and evolution give us repeatable and predictable results.

Yes, but my point is one should be wary of considering repeatable and predictable results grounds to call something a fact. Consider it from a statistical standpoint, just because we have numbers to back something up means we can consider it 'likely' or 'probable' but proving something based on patterns is fallacious. I may conduct a survey and find that 99% of people eat fastfood are obese. But to say fastfood makes you obese as a fact, or only obese people eat fastfood as a fact are both statements that require more articulation than simply stating it happens, as a fact, 100% of the time instead of 99% of the time. You need to be able to explain the situation form start to end from knowns and constants and not just say "well since this appears to be a pattern and it makes sense, it's a fact."
that not how science works though. no one says "well since..." and so on. its all about carefully examining the evidence that we have, and in this case the evidence is so strong that we really can make the call to say its a fact.
the big bang theory is mostly regarded as a fact as well for example.

I find it amusing that you use "big bang theory" in pointing out it's accepted as fact, when, in the name, it's theory. Not saying I disagree on that, just pointing out an irony.
Also, I'm curious as to what evidence you see as being so strong (articles, etc.)

you do realize that the word "theory" means that it is one of the biggest achievements in science? an idea starts out as a hypothesis. once its proven its a theory.
evidence for evolution? the fact that we and chimps share 98% of our genetic material (http://www.talkorigins.org/indexcc/CB/CB144.html with references below), our chromosome 2 is the result of a fusion of two ape chromosomes (http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/7063861), the fact that almost all animals have the same basic structure (http://darwinkilledgod.blogspot.de/.....-see-with.html), the fact that all members of the family of the great apes share the same endogenous retroviruses (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endogenous_retrovirus)...
i could go on.

Biggest achievements in science according to whom, exactly? "Big" is a relative word. Theoretical and Fact are two different things, my point is you keep throwing around fact and theory as if they are the same thing.
Also in the articles there are yet even more assumptions. "A precursor of the hominoid ancestor and orangutan is also assumed." " likely shared an ancestor." The article dealing with limbs reminds me of several things found elsewhere in nature that represent things we find in the human body. I believe it was blood vessels and the patterns of root growth. And yes, I have heard that figure, I'm sure you've also heard humans share somewhere around 55% of our genetic material with bananas.
All these articles lead to one, big, gaping hole: we have not come close to identifying a common ancestor.

Evolution's never actually been proven as a fact :/ It's still just a theory
in the scientific community the word "theory" means its the highest possible achievement. a demonstrable fact.
there is plenty of evidence for it, like the human chromosome 2 being a fussion of two ape chromosomes, the fact that humans and chimps share over 98% of their DNA proves that we and chimps have a common ancestor and almost all other animals share the same basic structure.
it IS a fact.

i mean, how do you think we humans and all other animals came to be? i always just hear people saying that it isnt a fact but they dont show me any alternatives.
LOL! A good test for anyone who doesn't want to believe in gravity.
High five for the Darwin fish! Go aquatic apes!
High five indeed! :D
Although I have no clue how to explain an anthropomorphic pickle with evolution O.O

That is not really how evolution works but whatever, let's just go with that!
