Congrats And Let's Pride!
I would be VERY interested in it being implemented later, pretty please? :"D
mhhh
You're right, my mistake, it was just one.
Congrats!
EDIT: Though for next year, I would like some more updates. I know the FA downtime kinda threw the whole thing off, but it would have been nice to see either FursonaPins or FA mentioning something about the contest on twitter at least.
glad to see such masterpieces <3
I love the art piece made by gabyhamster ♥
I hope in future the feature to include images in journal is made public and not just held to admins. It would be so good to have that.
Wish there was a variety of different mediums for the top entries, but neat.
All works are wonderful and inspirational. Thank you all for your artworks!) My congratulations to all
And now I have a bunch of new wonderful artists to follow too. <3
On the topic of them all looking great I feel that the next time a contest like this is held the winners should be chosen at random so that less skilled artists have a better chance at winning as well. I didn't enter this contest for those wondering.
All the entries are beautiful ^w^
Beautiful artworks, all of them!
but FA is biggest furry platform on the internet with a small staff and this contest only ran for a month, so chances of that seem likely but the winning pieces are still gorgeousI'd have given second first.
And the head on third place... mmm... the projection on the head is a bit off, like he head should be lower at angle and pose, what I mean is that the joint between the head and the neck seems to be almost at the nose.
My only feedback on this is that digital pieces were the only pieces picked, but I thought the rules said you could submit any medium pretty much? Were other mediums even looked at?
I hope there's another one for next year and the years after that.
However, I think I'd picked #3 as #1. Very abstract, for it sort of matches the fur AND LBGT community.
My favourite is lynxwolf's though, the meaning behind it is powerful, I would have loved that to be in the top three for the feeling and pain put into it.
I had fun drawing for the contest!
FA staff please make more contests for the community! =D
These are all wonderful, congratulations to the winners and honorable mentions!
congratulations for the 🏆winners!!! Amazing job!!
The entire theme is "show your pride" yet we only see 13 entries here at the end of the contest.
No mention of how many participated and only a vague method to see non-winning entries (Keyword searching).
I was on the fence about making an entry since I don't think I could have "won the judges over" so to speak.
Congrats to all the winners!
I can't submit anything to a contest I'm not aware of.
I was just clarifying.
I notice all the winners are all female characters. Just kinda curious since lately in the media a big deal has been made that there are more LGBTQ+ representation, but it only consists of lesbians and such. Not any actual gay guys.
Like marvel's fan service with Valkyrie suddenly being lesbian. Because it's more socially acceptable to be a lesbian than a gay guy.
And also because straight male fan bases love them some girl on girl action. :|
Did the community as a whole vote for the winners? Or what was the process?
Now, there are many that appear female. But I'm not sure that's a bad thing. Shame to not have more diversity present, sure, but it's not saying that any are better than any others. And considering the LGBTQ+ community has typically been dominated by the male-presenting crowd, it's a nice breath of fresh air for many.
Plus, as a more gay-leaning girl, I like it, lol. Sorry, I'm biased. XD
Valkyrie isn't lesbian, she's bi. And it's been that way for a long time. It's not sudden, it's just that a scene in a movie that was cut was recently revealed. Though considering the amount of biphobia in the queer community, it's not a surprise that there's an uproar at the moment from people who didn't realize that this wasn't new.
Alas, straights liking gay has been an issue for a long time. Though I'd say there's just as many straight girls who like guy on guy action as well. Not good, queers are more than just eye candy to be objectified.
As for how this was judged, the contest was ran by and sponsored by Fursona pins. It was probably judged by them though possibly by the FA staff. It wasn't a community process, though. I think that'd have been a headache and take forever, personally. But it was for the Fursona Pins website, so they probably had the biggest pull.
If you're worried about bias against gay males, though, I doubt that if Dragoneer's gallery says anything. XD
And I know about Valkyrie, I was more alluding to how suddenly they decided to bring up her sexuality in social media as LGBTQ+.
Was more so pointing out that gay guys seem to be left in the dust when it comes to more public and visible settings, whereas lesbians take the forefront and get praised, etc.
This just sorta feels like another of those things.
"Representation" etc.
