Havilland | Male | 34 | Straight
/ruddermutt/ A colloquial term for the hybridization between a canid and a mustelid, a transformation of the nickname 'rudderbutt' for a mustelid. Vocalizations of the hybrid include sounds from both species, though some are more successful at being produced than others, and some cannot be produced at all.
Havilland ended up with a fairly biased set of features to one species or the other, having primarily a mustelid build -- only canid ears (rather large ones at that, garnered from his German Shepherd side) and reproductive equipment. As a hybrid, it is possible he is sterile, though no tests have been performed yet. While physically, he is primarily mustelid, the coloration obviously comes across from the other side as well, and the primary part of his personality is driven by what might be defined as more canid desires. Throw a ball in his vicinity, you just might have it back shortly. Bring him to the water, he'll rarely set foot in it. Seems the webbed digits and the rudder tail only serve well in the hot tub.

Half a Decade in a Blink

-waves the cloud of dust out of his face-
God, the time disappears. Not like anyone reads this bullshit. But reactivating an account, doing some cleanup, get back to basics a little bit. Havilland still exists. I still exist, and what a few years it's been for the world. COVID rocked all of our shit; am now a licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer at a company that thankfully didn't get its shit rocked by the COVID pandemic as air travel took a dump; trying to hide the gray hair as I officially hit mid-30s this year. Ups and downs with work, and life. This year will be 2 years since I lost my Mum to her decades long battles with cancer and cardiomyopathy. Finally got to go back home to BC in the summer for a couple of weeks. Saw some otters and handled a hawk, saw old friends and family for the first time since I moved.
But here we are. That's how life be. Now just trying to figure out where to go from here, I always thought this part would be easier after I got my license and got to working on airplanes, fulfill the dreams, y'know. But there's still a hole I don't know how to fill. So in the meantime I cover it up with games and music and the drone of everyday life watching the months disappear. Already partway through February of 2024, jesus. But hey. See what this year brings. Maybe bring Havilland to life some more with some art, maybe update this journal in sometime less than 5 years, though I'm already in touch with the closest people in my life more regularly, still. Keeping this part of the persona alive is cathartic in some way still.
So yeah. Here goes 2024.
