On UP 2.7 (TT made public)
The current rules are inherently vague, and users who have attempted to receive info on whether or not their characters are OK on this site, despite the characters explicitly being adults, have been conflicting. It is clear, based off of these revealed TTs, that this policy is NOT only a ban list of certain Pokémon (that is obscured to the users of this site AND staff members alike), but an incredibly subjective interpretation (that is not consistent among members of FA staff) of pieces of art that entirely and flagrantly disregards the artist's intent.
And that is what is being called into question here by this policy, is it not? You are attempting to prevent users who intend their art to be viewed as cub NSFW material from being able to upload that material to this website, even if they do not state that it is cub NSFW material. I would argue there are more evidentiary methods to do what this policy intends. For starters, users, especially those who indulge in art that was already not allowed on FA have other accounts on different websites. If these users upload content that is explicitly labeled as cub NSFW (by themselves -- unfortunately certain websites allow other users to fill in tags regardless of the artist's intent), then it can be reasonably concluded that their art on FA may reflect that intent (especially if the same content on the other website was labeled as cub).
While this more concrete method would certainly not be perfect, I would argue that it is significantly better than what circumstance we will have once July rolls around: a ban hammer constantly hovering above artists heads, their livelihoods constantly at stake because at any point in time a random user and FA staff member could agree that a piece done by the artist was "childlike" due to art style, body proportions, or an unlisted banned Pokémon species, and perhaps due to unforeseen regulations and rules you, the individual FA staff members, enact. Even if these artists were able to submit a ticket arguing against the banning of the artwork, I do not believe constantly being on the edge of years of your work (for some, decades) and current livelihood suddenly disappearing to be a good thing. Especially when, based off of the rules, the artist most likely doesn't even do cub NSFW material.
But now to talk of the Pokémon. I think the line in the policy "We are not concerned with whether or not a character is emotionally mature, a certain level, or evolved" is the most damning of all, making it crystal clear that your intent was not to ban pedophiles from your platform, especially with the line "Minors involved in SFW or non-sexualized interests, such as vore and transformation, are allowed" which is absurd as it entirely contradicts the entire supposed philosophy and intent of this policy update. This update to the policy cannot be accurately described as a removal of pedophiles from the platform.
Instead, this policy lashes out upon hundreds of Queer artists who have no interest or intent in drawing cub NSFW material, and yet this policy intends on labeling them as such. We have used the Pokémon species you claim are "childlike" as sonas, characters that describe our adult selves, for decades now. And I do genuinely believe that this is an attempt by the FA staff to regulate Queer expression. Because if the intent of this policy is not legal protection for the site, not for selling the platform, not for preventing pedophiles from staying on your website, then it can only be described as an erasure of Queer expression by puritanical minds.
I, as a Pokémon artist and a Queer person, do not trust FurAffinity any longer.
