I'm neurodivergent. When interacting with me you may not notice it but I'm not the best at socialising, it costs me a lot of energy to find the right words and I'm sometimes unintentionally awkward or oblivious to things. Still I hope I can find friends here. I love geeking out with people.
I'm passionate about videogames. Nintendo, anything from the 80s to mid 2000s. My special interests are game prototypes, N64, SNES and handhelds old and modern. I love photography, forest walks, synthesisers, electronic music like Kraftwerk, synthpop, ambient, prog, more experimental stuff. I also like old computers, cassette decks, VCRs, turntables, things like that.
My 2nd big passion are languages and traditional music. I know a lot about English and Scottish ballads. I shared my collection of field recordings on Youtube recently. Another related thing I love are comparisons. Version comparison fascinates me, be it videogames or music. It's hard to explain why but I'm good at spotting differences and I never get tired of comparing things.
I'm not the best at drawing so I probably won't share much art. But I do love taking photos of landscape, animals and objects, so I can share some of that. There won't be much of an audience for it but I may also try to sing a few of the folk songs that are always floating around in my head. I know hundreds of them.
I love foxes. They're shy but clever, have good hearing, and are mostly nocturnal creatures. They remind me of myself. I love their curious fur colours, floofy tails and triangular faces. That's why I decided to be a fox on the internet. Wolves are impressive, but I'm not strong enough to be a wolf. Canines in general are reliable and likeable. Cats are, well, I like cats a lot but I like foxes even more. Dragons seem intimidating at first but I made friends with dragons and they're gentle characters, not at all fierce and mean.
I'm an outsider in this world. Identifying with animals has been a playful method of escapism for me. As a human I often feel I don't belong with them, they don't understand me, I don't understand them.
I have health issues. My joints are inflamed. There are phases where I'm doing better and phases where it's not so good. I feel I should mention it to help people understand why I'm sometimes inactive.
I'm grey ace and I tend to avoid overly explicit artworks and topics. Often it makes me uncomfortable. I'm the kind of person who prefers romance and emotions, aesthetics, humour, artworks that resonate with me, if that makes any sense.
To anyone who read my profile, thank you for your interest. Don't be afraid to say Hi if you feel like there are things we could talk about. I appreciate a good talk even if I'm shy and clumsy at first. It gets better when I get to know someone.
Find me on Telegram if you're in the mood to talk about old games:

I have a Youtube channel where I play games and sing occasionally:

Mich gibt's auch auf Deutsch ^-^
I'm not that good at RP. I won't do it unless we're comfy with each other.

Autism, Neurodiversity, Terms
Maybe a strange thing to talk about but it frustrates me that the term Asperger's is no longer considered acceptable.
It was relatively widely understood. It implies weak social skills, repetitive behaviour and special interests.
Autism / Neurodiversity are more broad terms. It's not as clear to people what it implies.
This topic arose when someone asked me why I wasn't making eye contact.
I explained that I have autism.
The answer was a surprised "But you talk like anyone else and you smile etc.. You're not like the autists who don't speak at all."
In a situation like that the term Asperger's is still helpful.

But I carry the name of a man,
Who served ten years in that prison,
For the girl in the blue velvet band.

Can't drag a sturdy old fox down
I'm listening to Tangerine Dream's Phaedra album from 1974.
As my chest/shoulder is healing and improving, so is my singing voice.
