First part

“Wha’ do ya mean we’re evicted!?”
Several onlookers threw glances to the man who gave the earlier shriek. This was happening within entrance room of the building, right by the receptionist desk, with most of the people simply passing by into separate corridors. The room they were in was old and crackling, breaking apart little by little. And yet, it had a full of assortment of furniture, mismatched in the best possible manner and variety of items, each one having nothing to do with anything. Therein stood our main characters, the two men who were speaking over the desk, whose statures were as mismatched as the furniture was.
“Sir, lower your voices. Please.” Said the young human woman at the counter, named Cassandra, her hair blonde, but cut short and she also wore an eyepatch.
“Fudge that!!! You guys are outta your minds!” Said one of the two men, specifically the smaller fellow. He one was a lizard, a rail-thin crocodile, wearing an old style shirt and tie with pull-up pants. He also brandished a knife, waving it without care, manically threating the young woman, who was unimpressed in return.
“We’ve sent you a notice. Now, if you would kindly…”
“I literally pay you every month with my hard earned cash, no strings attached, and you decide to screw with me? To screw with us?” He pointed at himself and his partner, who was distracted by the cart of food which drove behind them.
The deskwoman rolled her eye.
“After all we’ve done,” The alligator man continued, “this is what we are rewarded with, huh? What sort of example are you giving to other tenants here? We-“
“You literally destroyed half of the building a week ago!!!”
The lizard-man nearly fell back from the clapback, his threatening persona suddenly vanishing into thin air.
“I-Ah-First of all!” He returned to speaking, trying to gather his composure, “That thing, came out of literal nowhere. Sure thing, maybe we shoudda checked that it was a Carnivasaurus, and my Mama used to tell me-“
“And you’ve nearly killed our last delivery man.” She handed him a piece of paper stating “Letter of Complaint”. And then added, “THIS MORNING!”
“Well, uh, it was a slip of the hand, y’see? I mean, we both know the guy, right? A sweet, sweet guy right? Who would ever raise their hand at him? Not me.”
“But Boss!” Suddenly his bigger friend interject, a large shark-man who is wearing the same attire as the lizard guy (and probably the same size too seeing how strained it was on him), “Wazn’t dat dee ssame guy you ssaid waz really shifty, sso you-Aiyegh!” The lizard pulled him on his lower set of jaws, ceasing his talk.
“I think it’s enough for today. I’ll have someone check your room to see if it’s empty.” The lady gathered her things and was about to leave the desk. She walked from the desk and towards the nearest door.
“Wait!” And much to her annoyance, he had moved to block her. “Ok, I fudged up, I admit it, write it on a header for everyone to know, but! Just give me chance, ask your boss to let me stay, please? Have a heart, why don’t ya?”
“Or what, gonna threaten my life again?”
“When was the last time I threatened you?”
“Not that long ago, ‘Stitches’.” She said bluntly. Suddenly fire grew within the lizard’s eyes in an instant.
“Hey! That’s uncalled for! And WHO DO YOU THINK..!”
“Boss!” The sharkman chipped in from behind. The lizard then realized that at this point he was clutching the woman’s collar and held his knife in front of her face. The lady, raised her eyebrow and smirked, happy that her point was proven.
“Okay,” he let her go, “I get it, I have it bad with my temper, but you can’t just throw me out now. Or at least, can you wait for like, I dunno, day or two?”
“I’ll think about it.”
The lizard-man grinned.
“So you’re gonna tell’em?”
“Sure,” She opened the door, now that the lizard finally let her get to it. “But he will probably say no. Goodbye mister DeNiro!” She rapidly slammed the door shut before he could react and locked it.
“Wait! Just listen! It’s DeVita!” The lizardman sighed, completely dejected over the turn of events. He walked to the couch by the entrance and slouched on it.
“Sso, wat are we gonna do, Boss?” The sharkman sat down next to him, his heft nearly breaking the couch.
DeVita was silent. He was in a precarious situation, with a debt on his head, might as well be the next one to be “clipped”. As long as he was part of the guild, which allowed him to live there, meant that he could get enough money to pay them off. But now, well, now it’s just a matter of time until they send “the boys” after him.
“We just need the dough, right?” He asked his companion shark.
“Da bread or da money?”
“Money.”
“Oh!”
“So we just gonna need a new source.”
