Last year I dragged my fox kicking and yapping into an antique mall. Whilst browsing the aisles of shite (not to be confused with the Isle of Shight-- a place you hope NEVER to find yourself) I spotted some quality-looking, old-ass, finely-bound, leather-clad volumes on a shelf. They had the gilded printing on the spine and the clean edges with marbled colors on the outside of the pages. The leather was embossed neatly with the title and the paper was heavy and fine.
I selected a volume at random from this enviable set and simply opened it and gazed at what I'd found...
By pure chance, I happened upon what could only be the only page in such a book that could possibly catch my interest.
This is real. No bullshit. He lived. He served. He died. This man walked the earth. This man was extraordinarily lucky.
This man was extraordinarily lucky he wasn't born later.
Needless to say I immediately showed my fox, the mirthful treasure I had found. We giggled A LOT.
In hindsight, I should have bought the book.
