Oh this is so accurate even worse is when they don't make a comment at all...
How does one just say 'nice', I usually fawn all over the artwork, even when it's the roughest WIP
same here. "nice!" is for some random pinup sketch or something. an elaborate piece deserves a little more than that.
Did a quick read-through of all of these. Half seem to be born of insecurity and half of being a fellow old grump who's seen the trends.
No wonder I'm so amused. X3

DAW... poor feather butt ^^'
THOUGH... that has kinda always been my thinking bout any messenger stuff too, so . . .

I don't really understand how someone could just say "nice!"? Like, I freak out (in a good way) every time I receive a commissioned piece of art!
what chu talking about all your art is fan-hecking-tastic >3<
As much as I love updates they cause me such struggles! I try to find errors that can be corrected while saying what I like. But, Im always terrified the artist will hate me :'C
There is no greater source of fear of knowing something has been read and waiting for the response. Not knowing if they are happy with it. @.@
Absolute worst: They don't reply at all!
Absolute worst: They don't reply at all!
On the other side of things, I always double check my response. I don't want to seem ungrateful or unenthused. So yeah sometimes I take 5 minutes to type out a variant of "Looks good."
Now I remember why I followed this page, ugh this is so relatable when I do gift for my friends x'D
I've had the sort of opposite side of this
"Im going to compliment their work! and i need to write something so it sounds like i appreciated it!"
*15 minutes of typing and deleting later*
"Can't think anything good enough... and now i've been typing for what seems like an eternity!"

Believe me, it's the same for commissioners like me.
I get the message from the artist... and I spend an entire day in anxiety, avoiding to look at that message, in case it's all botched up and I have a long list of issues to announce.

I feel this... and probably why I'm not feeling fully motivated right now.
That it feels like no one seems to like what I draw at times...

i always appreciate any art i comission and thank the artist as well as give a shout out to them as well to help them

They love it so much, they can't find words to describe their feelings
Your not the only one, I think I broke my refresh button once after posting my work
Freaking nailed it, and not just with art but anything shared XD
Oh, I hear you. The feeling is even worse when time passes and they will not post it to their Twitter or gallery, or even RT/fav/like one's post of it. :(
Hmm can you turn the dots off? or at least change them to hyphens or tildes?
Completely solves the problem, yep :3

Мой друг художник точно такой же) Сколько ему искренне не говори, что его рисунки красивые, он будет считать, что никому не нравится))
My friend is an artist too and he is just the same) Always sincerely says to him that his drawings are beautiful, he still will believe that no one likes it))

That's why I make sure the artist knows I love what they drew me. Even if it isn't something like the Mona Lisa, I can tell they put their heart and soul into it. I don't care if they drew stick figures for me, I'd still love it.
If I ever commission you I'll make sure I'll have a pre-written thank you message so you won't get anxiety!
I just spend 10 minutes laughing my ass off at all of these. you are a gift!
i get like this a lot XD i have to remind myself they are usually responding from their phones, so typing out their actual reaction would be super annoying.
i put a lot of emotion into my text- lots of exclamation marks or ellipses or not-so-random capitalization, things like that.
so when i get clients who don't even use periods, who text me during bathroom/lunch breaks at their busy job, the clipped responses seem very bored/cold and it makes me think they hate my art, or at least don't care about it. and that's very off-putting! especially since i show wips, and rely on client interest to stay motivated in the work myself.
i try to remind myself of the above stuff, that they are just distracted or not good at putting emotion into text, but it's hard.
(i was going through my faves and forgot i'd already commented on this, so i guess you get a more in-depth explanation XD sorry!)

That must be so nerve-wracking! When people approach you specifically to casually shell out fifty or more dollars for a custom piece of art....
..... "Nice" isn't as enthusiastic a response as you'd expect from satisfied customers.
