This was a fun one and I'm delighted that the card this illustration is for is pretty decent too! The creature is called a Groff, they are dog-like, swamp dwelling ambush predators.

Aahh, another sublime image! Superb job! Especially on the water disturbances!
Groff, too, elects to sacrifice the finger-legged pest. Good doggo. 🙏
I really like the levels of detail that are in the picture. The teeth have an ivory color. Their shape/size make sense. The canine teeth look to be grooved. The claws have depth. The blue parts of the creatures have depth. The moss has shading. The lily pads look waxy.
The screaming catterpillar is gorgeous XDD
Very awesome artwork! Action and colors are completely outstanding, it's a pleasure to contemplate all the details

Gosh yes, I love the energy in this, in everything from the composition to the color choices.
I am reminded to a Magic The Gathering "Blastoderm" but in adorable.
That turned out fabulous. Loving the lighting and the ambush water effects. One very would-be boopable bait snoot
Oh man. These are just so good. I can’t wait for your Midnight Hunt cards!!!
part of me kinda just wants them to have you do the art for something that makes tarmogoyf look dumb.
The swamp thing resembles an Irish Wolfhound.
Very scary and effective.

(* sniff *) The poor Caterpiggle will never know what hit it!
I've been entertaining myself by having a little wonder about the morphological features that might evolve on a canid adapting to this niche. For example, a dog's nose would be excellent for ambush predation, since it's a remarkably sensitive and accurate directional infrared sensor, a bit like a rattlesnake's pits. I'm wondering about the dentition, though... I wonder if a Groff might graduallly evolve to have teeth more like a cayman, specialised to holding prey rather than dissecting it?
i'm just in love with your brushwork, the way you've kept the texture is amazing!
Why am I reminded of that one scene from the original Ghostbusters movie?
You know the one. If you don't... go watch the movie. All of it. You'll thank me later, it's a masterpiece.

This reminds me so much of the Neverending Story wolf
