The globus cruciger was of Roman origin and used by the Byzantines and many other monarchies throughout Europe. Byzantine coins sometimes show the emperor holding one. Give me some credit, I do my research for this comic.

The Globus Cruciger was used throughout the Middle Ages; it shows up on Byzantine coins and actually extends back to Roman times.

It's been a few months, but yeah, not long enough to really be socially acceptable for this time and culture. But Eudokia has that covered on the next page.

So just how seriously does Rossweisse take her contract? Like say they do cancel her contract, does she acknowledge her word or the paper that has just been torn apart? Be kind of annoying for her to be locked by her word and not being payed for the job.

Rossweisse is paid as a regular Varangian guard (although they were reluctant to do so at first). She takes her contract very seriously, but I won't go into too much detail since that will be coming up in a few more pages.

as is to be expected, royal types only really feel the rule of law needs apply to everyone ELSE.

and somehow i doubt she wants the money so much as she wants the money out of his hands. an unscrupulous banker of the gods....that couldn't have ended well.
