Relaxation is a worthy pursuit. So is the search for decent and entertaining company. It is not an entirely foreign thing for a Dragon to enjoy the right kind of company, after all.
For once, I decided to indulge in those. Yet again, after a long, long time. A perfect opportunity presented itself to me - a respectable fellow dragon, a particularly charming one at that, extending an invitation to meet him at his very favorite geological feature the lands have to offer - hot springs. And what a beautiful sight it was... Steam rising in undulating wisps, a shroud of clouds draped over the jagged mountains, all given the colors of warmth by the gorgeous sunset.
Warmth... Such a delightful feeling. Warmth of the sun shining upon the scales of my snout, the strands of my mane, the membranes of my wings. The intense heat of those geothermal waters, radiating up my limbs as they slowly submerge, bringing blissful relaxation. Almost as if my paws touched that fiery sensation itself. The sheer pleasure of wading in that steaming pond... Of settling down for a good soak.
But perhaps the most pleasant kind of warmth is that in the friendly expression of a fellow dragon's snout. The crowning experience of an enjoyable moment, be it filled with chatter or silence.
A Moment, one of the kind that makes life worthwhile.
This exquisite piece was a birthday gift to my friend, heatseekerdiin. The artist, Orisana, did a really outstanding amount of work on this one, in an astonishing timeframe of under 10 days. An utmost pleasant cooperation, as is always the case with her - with really impressive attention to getting the poses and features of the background to match the idea behind the picture itself. It shows, as the artwork is magnificently detailed, reflecting the pleasant feelings it was intended to carry. I'm really at a loss for words to be properly thankful. ^^
Diin also undoubtedly deserved this one, showing up to be pleasant company at times when any company was sorely needed. Sometimes it takes just that moment of warmth to be able to relax, to let the thoughts go away for a few minutes, few hours more... An experience that warms the very soul.
All credit for the art belongs to mysteryglowworms, as mentioned. Please, do check her out - you'll be hard-pressed to find a more endearing artist to work with :)

The fact that they're in such a frigid atmosphere despite being Dragons yet seemed to be completely fine with it and adapted to it . This reminds me of silver Dragons from D&D since they're cold adapted. Those are some of the nicest Dragons in D&D by the way.
As for the picture itself, I like the way the steam seems to be clogging up the camera because it adds an extra layer of realism. The water looks a little bit flat but I appreciate the way it's reflecting the sunlight and is being disturbed by the Dragons bodies.
The snow capped mountains, clouds and the sun make me think that this is some sort of polar spring day as it's coming out of the dark months that would show in the Arctic and Antarctic circles.
And the Dragons themselves are the best things of all, it's hard to read their expressions because they're Dragons but I adore this. They look perfectly acclimated to their environment and they're obviously having fun. The fingers of their wings the scales and even their crests are so detailed. They look so lifelike like I could reach out and touch them.
