Yet another journey into the Dreamworld.
I have been given a Lantern. The Lantern holds many meanings... It illuminates the few steps ahead, in the absence of the Sun. It is the sole source of Inner Warmth at the heights of the Void, the flickering light of the Soul itself. A fragile vessel of virtues, of Knowledge, of Wisdom and of Kindness. A warm Light up close, unlike the cold and indifferent light of the Stars above.
It is my Task to hold onto it, to ponder upon its Light. The one certainty in darkness, visible to my eyes.
It could be a source of Strength and Resolve, should I make it so. The warm, flickering light holds the Answers.
My perch is a broken Pillar of the World, reaching unfathomably to the very night sky. There is nothing there. There is no one there.
The Watcher's Tower, the Hermit's Solitude.
Perhaps the Light of the Lantern is meant to guide others...
The one warm and certain thing in the Void.
A Gift.
As the Bearer of the Lantern, I might be able to find my path through the Dreamworld... and beyond.
This commission was inspired by a Tarot card, The Hermit (IX). It speaks to me on a very personal level, combining solitude and self-discovery. The lamp illuminates just the immediate surroundings for the Hermit doesn't know the end of the journey, just a few steps ahead. The journey of the Hermit is one of seeking awareness, of possibly finding guidance within.
The card has different meanings, depending on whether it is placed upright or reversed. Which way mine will land, time will tell.
As a piece of art itself, it's an amazing one - the magnificent artwork by morsylvia combined by the gorgeous ornaments provided by polunoch really serve to prove this artistic couple's skill at delivering meaningful symbolism, with impressive understanding of the subject matter requested from them. I think I couldn't be any more satisfied with this, it met all my expectations and exceeded them. It's one of the best portrayals of the Lone Dragon, splendidly framed through the pose and composition.
And whether the Light is meant to shine for others or guide myself... I guess I shall see, eventually.
And a little musical theme to go with it: Estas Tonne - Internal Flight https://youtu.be/6lIt07sBW4E
Beautiful artwork is a result of a collab between immensely skilled and - if you enjoy such themes and don't follow them yet, I firmly insist you should.

Do not drop it...
Once it shatters, you belong to Oblivion.
Without its Flame, your heart shall freeze.

Love this. You can tell it has such a rich meaning to it, even without the description. The artists really brought it to life
Thank you, I really like to aim for meaningful art. The more thought-provoking it is, the better. And Morsylvia & Polunoch are certainly remarkable when it comes to reflecting this in their style.
I love these type of tarot cards with these deeper meanings behind them, or open ended interpretations on them.
Beautiful artwork!
Beautiful artwork!
Thanks a lot! I appreciate how each card has its symbolism, with something relatable to find in one or more of them, eventually.
Wow, I started reading with random music playing in the background... https://youtu.be/hPpbZebb9Gk?si=KID.....v1yx&t=127
and it sent shivers down all the scales on my spine.
Light. I remembered you mentioning that my Shadow is my brightest side. Later I created its luminous form by recognizing another of its depths. His true nature.
Shadows are certainly carriers of endless light.
The night never lasts forever, so the silent and the beauty of the stars must be turned into "nocturne".
Just look up, dragon. You are a mirror. Not alone, but one in a million.

One of the many stars... Light-years apart.
Interesting remark on the shadows, though. Sounds like something worth poking into.

"Light-years apart" is just the perspective of consciousness - it always sees the past, limited by the speed of light. The dragon is light, the dragon is unconsciousness.
"Today is just an other day
of my life too short to live
I should have some kind of meaning
a destiny to believe in
before I go to sleep
I find some pictures of a time
when everything was still so fine
although the years have passed by
I will give it all I have inside...everything
I'm away lost in my thoughts
everyday my life goes by
at the speed of light"
(Stratovarius)

The particular images used, lanterns and a broken pillar, make me think vaguely of the first sources of Tolkien's first light for Arda, the two lamps.
