A few years ago before our record breaking wet seasons there was severe drought in the area where my husband grew up. Tripping through there 4 years ago this riverbed was dry, exposing the deep red clay soil. After visiting earlier this year, the river has been fully restored and was a burst of vibrant greens against the rust. I will be painting a companion piece for this painting showcasing it's current form.

Thank you for not only depicting a handsome piece of scenery, but capturing and explaining an important moment in its geological history!
It is so special to see the painter being so connected to what they're depicting.

You're very welcome! It is amazing how dramatic a change the environment can have too with just a slight change in annual rainfall. There are dams in the area that were practically puddles when we visited during the same drought, that have no become inland seas!
It is only over the span of decades that we notice how alive a landscape really is, even the unliving parts of it!
Wishing you more moisture in the years to come to prevent those ruinous wildfires!
