‘You do not have to be so dramatic today!!’
“There is a lot of stuff on Nightshade Island left there from times long ago, but one of the mort impressive has to be the Gateway. A mystic portal, that seems almost as old as the island itself, that lets me travel to other places, it’s how I found, and travel to, the other islands where my friends live. I’m not really sure where it came from, or who might have built it, but as Guardian of the island I guess I’ve inherited it from them, and use it for likely the same purpose they did, to travel to other places, though they undoubtedly understood it better than I do.
The dragonhead I wear on my belt is a talisman that allows me to activate the gateway when I want, but controlling it, well,… that’s tricky. The gate has the ability to send me Anywhere, but here’s the thing, if I try to get it to open to a place it has sent me before, then it always works, no problem. But, I try to get it to open to a place it hasn’t sent me before, even if it’s a place I have been, then the destination of the portal is random, and could be any place in the world. I found this out when I first tried to use the gate to get back to where I came from before I was brought to Nightshade, and it’s how I ended up finding Coconut Island and Azure Island and met my friends there.
The gateway seems to be powered by moonlight, which is collected and stored in the crystals at its base. Using the gate a lot can drain the crystals of their power, and then they need time to recharge, and how quickly it recharges depends on how full the moon is and how much moonlight there is, of course.
The gate also seems to be,… ‘temperamental,’... sometimes a portal just opens without much fuss, other times there is light, and wind and all kinds of dramatic effects, and I’m never really sure why, maybe it just wants attention. Whatever the reason though, today is clearly a dramatic day.”
The Gateway is something I’ve mentioned quite a lot, so figured it was about time we actually saw it, and there it, in all it’s glory, thanks Shonuff44
Sho really outdid himself on this one, this piece was meant to showcase the gate that Ember uses to travel, and it went above and beyond in that regard. The gate looks great, the cracked stone and crystals really give it an ancient and mystical feel, while all the light and wind it’s kicking up really speak to its power and mystery. Ember looks great, as always, standing amidst the power of the gate, unphased by it, her hair and leaves blown by the wind around her, and the light shining off the edges of her hair and leaves. The wind and light effects are really impressive, and give such a great feel to the moment, you can practically feel all that turbulence surrounding Ember, and I love that we finally get to see what that dragonhead she wears on her belt is actually for. I also think it’s a great touch that the destination on the other side of the gate is clearly Coconut Island, as seen in previous pictures, which was a nice addition by Sho, I guess Ember is heading over there to visit her friends there, once the gate is done being overly dramatic, of course. ;).
Magnificent work, Sho, thank you very much. :)
What do you think? :D

Awesome picture.
And nice way to travel. I wish I had similar gate/portal.

Indeed, glad you like it. :)
Yeah, seems very useful, even when it's being a drama queen. ;)

Yup, seemed an interesting way for her to get around. :)
Indeed ;)
Indeed ;)
"BEHOLD! FOR YOU HAVE USED MY POWERS TO TRAVEL TO COCONUT ISLAND! HOME TO MAN EATING PLANTS! DEADLY QUICKSAND PITS! AND TOP RATED REALITY TV!"
Great shot, a fun and dramatic way to show and tells how the portal works really well while giving a great view of Ember's back while her expression is a mix of determination and just being completely done with the dramatics. ;)

Haha! I'm sure if the gate talked it would definitely sound like, and give commentaries like that. ;)
Indeed, a great and dramatic picture to do abit of lore building by showing the oft-mentioned gate that Ember uses to travel with, while explaining how it works, and yeah, Ember's expression definitely shows that she is not impressed by the theatrics. ;)

Exactly, making sure she knows just how amazing he is. ;)
Indeed it defiantly is useful to shot that off, and defiantly works quite well, indeed her expression most certainly shows she's not too impressed. ;)

Exactly, it would totally want everyone to know how awesome it was, if it talked. ;)
Indeed it is, and I'm glad you think so, and yeah, clearly she's seen this too many times to be wow'd by it anymore. ;)

Exactly, everyone for miles has to know Ember is using it's powers. ;)
Pretty much, at this point it's more just annoying for her to sit through, like some unskippable cutscene. ;)

Yeah, exactly, so probably best it doesn't talk, or the Villains would be alerted to every time she left the island, and that would be bad. ;)
Exactly, fortunately it doesn't happen every time. ;)

Heh, true as well, wouldn't want every villain to know her exact location. ;)
Indeed so. ;)
Indeed so. ;)
Indeed, a bit of lore I have been meaning to show, and talk more about, for awhile now, glad to actually do so. :)
Really great to see how those portals work for Ember. And to see how she makes them, is what really makes this picture :). But to see Coconut Island at the other side, at least it can now be a great shortcut to go to the other places she has been to :). Though I get the feeling that portal may be used to help out her friends down the line soon ;)
Nice work from Sho :) . It really shows that making a portal takes a lot of energy seeing those effects all around Ember. But it all works out :)

Yeah, a good bit of lore to finally show here, and it really does make the picture. :). Yeah, the view of Coconut Island really shows that here. It is entirely possible. ;).
Indeed, great work from Sho. And it certainly does show that alot of energy goes into activating a gate. Indeed it does. :)

That it does :). Indeed it does. Guess we'll see in the future ;).
Yes it does.
