Jaiden was enjoying the local collector's convention in town. It was a new con, filled to the brim with collectors of antiques, trading cards, vinyls, figurines, and more. If you could collect it, it was at the show! While the woman wasn't a big collector herself, she did appreciate being able to see all the cool items she wouldn't be able to see otherwise! Many collectors came to simply show off their collections as a museum of sorts, something that was particularly interesting to Jaiden so she was planning to spend most of her time there.
There were a handful of sellers too, and Jaiden had been asked a few times while walking around if she was interested in buying or selling, neither of which she was interested in. She might buy a few pieces of merchandise for the convention itself as a souvenir to bring back home, but she wasn't interested in any high-market items!
Jaiden had wandered around the convention floor for quite a bit, eventually deciding it was best to take a break and eat a little bit of food before continuing to explore all the booths and exhibits happening at the convention. She wasted no time in ordering food and taking a seat in the food court area. It was pretty packed but she was still able to get a table for herself.
Temporarily, anyway. She would have someone walk up to her, standing above with a friendly face with a tray of food of her own.
"Excuse me, do you mind if I sit here? Everywhere else is kind of taken." she gave a small chuckle.
"Oh, yeah! That's fine." Jaiden nodded and invited her to sit down. "I'm Jaiden, and you are?"
"Genevieve." the owl woman answered. "Enjoying this convention so far?"
"Yeah, it's been fun! Some of these things I didn't even know existed until today!"
"Yes, there are a lot of unobtainable things here, at least through traditional ways..." she trailed off and looked off.
"R-right." Jaiden nodded and went to change the subject to try and break the awkward silence. "Are you buying anything here?"
"Oh no, nothing here. I don't really have a need for anything, I'm just looking for things to sell, make a little extra money. It's more fun here when I can barter a bit better instead of just getting the money normally."
"I guess so. I don't really sell anything so I wouldn't know anything about that." Jaiden gave a small chuckle.
"Oh no? Well it's a delight. Such fun seeing what someone will charge for something so trivial, something so replicable. In fact, I think I might want to give you a crash course in collecting!"
"That's alright but thank you." Jaiden shook her head. "I don't have the money for this kind of thing."
"You don't need money with a little magic~!" Genevieve cooed as her beak began to form into a devious smirk.
"I'm...not following." Jaiden frowned, the awkwardness from the silence coming back while Genevieve stared into Jaiden's eyes not breaking eye contact.
"No, I don't expect you to." Genevieve gave a small chuckle. "But allow me to enlighten you about the beauty of sales~!"
Jaiden wanted to question more but felt her mind becoming clouded quickly making it harder to collect her thoughts and express her concern and confusion.
"Don't worry, just let the changes take you, it'll be more relaxing that way~!" Genevieve cooed as Jaiden's transformation would begin.
Exploding out from her backside would be two entirely new appendages that were as tall as her body itself. They were covered in bright orange scales, with the membranes of the new wings a cerulean blue. Where the curve of the wing met, a pointed dulled set of spiles formed. That wasn't the only extra appendage, with another one forming at the base of her spine. It stretched out and became notably long, with orange scales forming there with yellow scales on the underside of the new tail forming on them. At the tip of her new tail, a flame would form that matched the colors of the scales on her new appendages.
Her skin was hardening, bright colors forming onto it as it was shifting into scales as well. Around her belly, yellow scales formed while orange scales replaced the skin everywhere else, Jaiden's entire body now underneath orange scales with parts of yellow.
Jaiden's neck became notably longer, almost doubling from its initial size. All of her hair was shrinking into her scalp, vanishing into the scales until she no longer had hair at all. Instead, two dulled horns not too unlike the spikes on her wings emerged. They were only a few inches long and wide, cylindrical in shape. Jaiden's face stretched out greatly, with her nose moving out with it. Her nose shrank into the upper part of her extended face, leaving only their nostrils of which became smaller and much more slitted. From inside of her new muzzle, two fangs would stick out while most of her teeth vanished entirely, leaving only two fangs on the top - the ones that would stick out even if her muzzle was closed and two more on the bottom. The upper half of her muzzle overhung the lower half, giving her a slight overbite. Over her eyes, scaley "hoods" grew over them housing them while the pupils became much more dragonic.
The length of her legs became much smaller, though they became extra wide with the strength of her thighs becoming much stronger to support the rest of her body. Her body enlarged a fair bit, becoming heavier in the process. All of her curves were flattening into her figure to become a straightforward circular curve. Her breasts completely vanished into her chest to leave no trace of them behind.
The digits of Jaiden's hands would merge together, losing her ring and index fingers. They became more jagged and curved, with the nails at the tips of them sharpening and turning white as they became claws. All of Jaiden's toes would shrink into her feet, with only three toenails remaining. Just like the fingernails, they sharpened into curved white claws. Her feet became much flatter and with that, Jaiden had transformed into a Charizard.
However, that was just the first half of Jaiden's transformation. While her body had become larger overall, this was only temporary as she rapidly shrank down in size. All the while, her body was being forced into a unique posture. Her neck craned down with her muzzle looking forward, opening up with a now much longer tongue sticking out as if she was about to blow flame out from inside of her. She was slightly hunched over with wings spread wide.
Once her pose was locked in, she became much flatter. This continued until her form was a rectangular shape. However, her Charizard body was only a little under half of what made up the shape. It flattened and softened, turning into flat cardboard that was so fragile it could easily be torn with the flick of a wrist. Jaiden's body was converted into cardboard, with the Charizard she was simple ink on the printing of the card. On the card itself, a gold box formed around the art of the Charizard, along with all the information everywhere else, from its stats to its moves, weakness, and everything that comes printed on a Pokemon card. The one final piece of of ink forming onto the print was a Pokeball symbol with the number two behind it. Jaiden had shrurnken down to only a few inches tall and even less thick. She could now easily fit into the palm of Genevieve's hand, reduced to nothing more than a Pokemon card.
"Ah, see? They say you're rare but anyone with a simple magic spell can make a perfect replicate. To anyone but me, you're just a trading card, look just like you were printed with the rest of those cards." Genevieve said, walking over and picking the Pokemon card up in her fingers, bringing it up to her face with a smirk. "Now you'll be able to see how one of these sales go! No better way to see than by experiencing it first hand I say, see what it's like to be something collectible ~!" Genevieve giggled as she left the food court, walking out to the vendors.
She stopped at what looked to be one of the largest trading card game vendors who had a handful of famously rare and expensive cards, walking up to the badger man running the booth.
"Hello, what can I do for you? Interested in buying? Selling? I'll even do some trading if you have a good offer!"
"I'm looking to sell this off." Genevieve said, sliding Jaiden onto the counter between the two.
"Whoa, an original Charizard?" he was taken aback, though his excitement was shortlived. "Oh, it's a Base 2 Charizard."
"Same difference! It has the same art, effects, all that. I'm sure it'll be worth something from you."
"Sorry, I'm not really in the market for anything but the original print. This is okay, but it's nothing crazy valuable. Maybe one of the lower tier vendors might want to buy it."
"Oh, so you're only looking for Base 1 Charizard was it? That can be arranged!" Genevieve smirked, and in an instant, it wasn't just Jaiden who had transformed into a Charizard, but the poor badger man had befell the exact same fate! The only difference was it was missing that two watermark that symbolized what set it was "printed" in.
"There, now you got what you wanted, you did say you were in the market for one, now you're a PART of the market!" Genevieve cackled. "I don't have any use for you, let's go sell you to some other sucker around here." she was about to walk away before remembering the other Pokemon card on the counter.
"Oh right, you. Look, I have this now, it's apparently better, I don't know much about this thing but I'll trust the FORMER expert." she smirked at the former badger-turned Pokemon card in her hand. "So this is where we part ways. Maybe someone will find you and keep you, maybe they'll sell you, hell, maybe they'll put you inside their bike spokes! Either way, I don't care. Apparently, I'm not going to get any value out of you so I'll go sell the one that will! Have fun with whoever finds you!"
With that, Genevieve, the only person who knew about Jaiden's predicament was gone. To everyone else, she was just another Pokemon card. The magic that Genevieve had used altered the perception of all around them so that they didn't even see Jaiden transforming in the first place. She would spend some time on the counter until someone eventually came into the booth that Genevieve had left Jaiden in. He tried to find whoever left it there but there didn't seem to be any sign of any owner.
Being a collector himself and not one to say no to a free card, he decided to keep the Charizard for himself! He knew it wasn't as valuable as an original-print Charizard, but it still had some like any other Charizard! He put Jaiden inside of a sleeve and that inside of a top loader so that it wouldn't bend or be victim to the air and start to warp. Inside of it, the Pokemon card would remain pristine. Jaiden's fate was sealed inside of it, she was forever a Pokemon card now, on display in the home of a collector unless they ever decided to sell or trade it away. But that wouldn't come anytime soon, for now, she would stay a part of his collection, no way to talk or even think about anything. She was just an old piece of cardboard now, no sign of ever being anything but and no one with any reason to think she was ever anything but a Charizard card.
