My Life Has Stopped Exploding. :-/
Good Day, All!
It's been a few months sine my last installment. I've really wanted to keep up with this journal more, but life has been crazy-busy. :-/
Work has really picked up. We have a lot of jobs coming up I'm running this section alone (boss suddenly quite a month ago). There is a LOT to do and take care of and it's been a super stressful time. I also added a class to my stressors a couple weeks ago. The classes are NOT easy the the teacher......isn't the best. Thankfully, I was able to get some help from a different instructor, but I'm still not sure I passed the course. :-S It's only going to get harder as my training intensifies.
To combat some of that stress, I was able to go on vacation with my mom and sister in Wisconsin right before the test. THAT was a great week. I did a LOT of walking (sometimes with my mom), some exercise, and quite a bit of sewing. We visited some cheese stores, a really cool museum, and even played a bit of mini golf. On our way out of town, we visited an alpaca farm! They were so cute and we learned a lot about alpacas. One of the babies almost at my shoe. :') It was a great week to de-stress, only to then go to that damn class.
Speaking of sewing, I was able to assemble the rest of Akina's locks, attach a good amount to her head, and re-stuff her body during vacation. She was pretty floppy before. Since coming back home, I've finished attached the rest of her locks, so all she needs is the gold clips. Soooooo many clips........... I may post a WIP pic of her, or I just may wait, til she is done. She has a LOT of hair. After her, I should finish my ita bag, but I may move on to Gallus from MLP. I also have colors for Smolder (also from MLP), but the parts haven't been cut out yet. Since I don't have an embroidery machine, I'm hoping to try out the satin stich around the appliques.
Hobby-wise, I've been busy. DnD is still going and we have a temporary player for 3 sessions. We will also get a permanent one after that one leaves. One of our regulars is having some issues, though, so we may need to make some adjustments. I've really gotten attached to Nia, though. We are planning on doing a 1-shot in the future, so I also need to finalize that character. Her name is Olenna Ironhoof and she will be a 70-year-old centaur barbarian, or "centaurbarian". :-P I won't be getting art of her (for now)< but I'm curious to see how barbarians play. I wasn't super jazzed about the class, so I though a 1-shot would be a good way to try it out.
My anime and MST3K groups are still meeting one a month and every 2 months, respectively, and Corgi Knight is still meeting every week. I have since upgraded my equipment and I'm trying to get in shape for the game. Lady Mary will be the main character, so I will have a LOT of lines. I have upgraded my equipment so the recording will sound much better. I haven't had time to look for other gigs, but now that my life isn't exploding I can focus on making a resume, demos, and practicing. We will also make a dynamic comic for the KickStarter, so I can't wait to be a part of that. I never would have guessed that I would be a voice actor, but here I am! :-D
Finally, ALYSS IS BACK! I received my replacement sui a month ago and unboxed her a week ago. You can see that here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SX2kLqOK08I She really looks great! The head is much lighter (3D plastic instead of resin), I love the interchangeable feetpaws, and head is adjustable, which allows for a better fit and more responsive mouth. I wasn't a fan of the crocs inside the feet paws (I like shoes with backs) and I wasn't a fan of the air brushing, as that is hard to clean and has to be touched up. She also forgot the tail, but that will be here soon. I'm so happy that I can do my videos in-suit once again! It means more prep, but something much more appealing to look at. I'm so happy to have her and I can't wait to take her to MFF this year!
That's all for now. I do have a couple art pieces that I will add to my gallery so look out for those. Thanks again to anyone who reads these! I hope to check in again soon!
