New chat program for local "LAFF" furries
Posted 9 years agoSo guys there is this chat program called Slack.
Someone has so graciously set-up a LAFF group on it.
It's got different channels so you guys can do a real time chats or get together based on either location or event. It's broken down by geographical region and certain events (DGFurbowl, Madison bowling, Panera bread, oak park coffee, ect.), since we're so huge and all....
Slack works on Android, iOS, and over the web.More info' at slack.com. If you want an invite sign up at the below link and one of our admins will add you!
Also we made a quick sign-up form at http://goo.gl/forms/TT9L9XWWRF
I'm one of the Admin's of the new program.

Boo at the Zoo: October 25 @ Brookfield Zoo
Posted 9 years agoThe date has finally been announced!
7th annual Boo at the Zoo!
General info: http://imgur.com/a/dYxOL READ THIS!!!!

What: Boo at the Zoo, Fursuiting around the Brookfield Zoo!
When: Saturday Oct 25th, 2014
Gather: 11:15-11:50am
Ticket up and enter: 12pm - 12:10pm
Group photo 12:10 to 12:45pm
Line up for parade: After photos, parade starts at 1pm
Where: Brookfield Zoo: http://www.brookfieldzoo.org/czs/Boo.aspx
General Zoo Admission
Adults $16.95
Seniors 65 and Over $11.95
Children (3 to 11) $11.95
Parking
Cars $10.00
Members (Main Entrance) Free
Members (South Entrance) $2.00
There's a lot of discounts out there, search now if you want a discount.
Some people may get free passes from incredibly kind locals. Don't
rely on them to get in though
Boo at the Zoo is a set of weekends at the Brookfield Zoo sanctioned
specifically for kids and adults to come to the zoo in their halloween
costume. It's been a long standing tradition of the Brookfield zoo and many
other zoos around the country.
This event has been an absolute BLAST for the last... 6 years so we're doing it again.
This is going to be primarily a fursuiting event. We
need people out of fursuit as well though, but this is just a forewarning -
you're not going to get to see every animal in the zoo. The fursuiters get
mobbed for photos and have to almost work as a team to escape an area
at times. If you have some sort of non-furry halloween costume or just want to wear ears and tail, the option is also welcome. Camera people are more than welcome as well ^^
Rules:
I'm saying this as the person who's run it 6 years and had to deal with zoo
security about 4 of those years.
1. We are just visitors to the zoo that happen to be in fursuits. Pretend
you are not in fursuit; would it be creepy if you were some dude in a superman suit? Than don't do it Remember we don't work for the zoo and we don't want to give the impression that we do.
2. Photographs with people are fine, again - let them come to you.
3. Notice who is around you, if you see the group leaving and you're stuck
with photos -- make the signal that you're out of time and need to catch up
to the group.
4. If you see fursuiters trapped that need to get out -- help them! Signal
that you need them to follow you! (THIS!!!!!)
5. Be aware of your surroundings. Are we blocking an exhibit? Are we
blocking the pathway? Don't be afraid to help keep us clear of this. If we in any way block areas, that's when security has a chat with me and I have to explain we're not crazy!
6, Don't play the 'Fursuits dont talk game' if ANYONE asks if you're
with the zoo staff.
7. This is a halloween/kid centered event. Scary costumes are fine. Make sure they're still... kid friendly.
Recommendations:
1. Bring a backpack with a water bottle and towels if you are fursuiting.
2. Snag a zoo map, you can get lost here
3. Be on time, some people are always late and can't find us (every) year.
We will not wait for you
4. Bring along a conbadge. If you're fursuiting, don't bring one that has
the potential to fall off if tugged. Print off a copy to avoid feeling bad
if it's lost.

New Mod!
Posted 9 years ago reimori has sadly left Illinois for New Jersey. Please wish her well, and keep following her!
I'm Quasiskunk, a looong time resident of our state! She asked me to moderate the group, and I'm happy to do so :)
Please give me a few days to get thru all of the notes, comments, etc; I'm a fairly busy skunkie, but I'll try to keep the group and Friends List up to date.
In the mean time, since its Move In Week for the state colleges and universities, look thru the list to see if there are any Furs near your school: NIU, ISU, EIU, SIU (both of them), UIUC all have groups of Furs attending (WIU..not so many :( ) And of course, Chicago area colleges have tons of Furs. Most of those groups have meets, either weekly or monthly.

Millennium Park Fursuiting - 12/21/13
Posted 10 years agoDue to POPULAR DEMAND (holy squirrels!) we're going to have a second Millennium Park meet this month! I suggest going!
NAME OF EVENT: Millennium Park Fursuiting - 12/21/13
DATE: Saturday, December 21th
TIME: From 1:00 to 4-ish
WHAT IS IT?: We're going fursuiting in Millennium Park and the surrounding area for a few hours, before the bowling meet later that night! Furry gear (ears/tails/etc.) is welcome, too, if you don't have a fursuit.
FURSUITERS: Fursuiters can meet up around 1:00 near the SE lobby on Level TWO of the Millennium Park Parking Garage. (It can be a little tricky to find- follow the signs for "Segway tours" and you'll make it there!)
If you're late, the parking garage is still a good place to suit up- it's pretty vacant so there's little chance of "ruining the magic"! Hopefully, we'll be able to head out by 1:30.
WHERE TO FIND US: If you arrive before 1:30, there's a staircase on the corner of Monroe St. and Columbus Dr. that leads right to the lobby, where the fursuiters will be getting ready (we'd appreciate it if some handlers could meet us there).
COST: The parking garage costs around $25 (thanks, Chicago). Otherwise, it's absolutely free!
Contact Dittman Rat AKA about any questions or concerns!

Fursuiting! Are you a fursuiter? We will have a private fursuit lounge for you to change in or cool off.
Come party in your furrygear!
Or you can just chill at the Bar and Cafe areas grab a bite to eat, drink with friends (21+ to drink alcohol), catch a game on TV or play pool.
$5 at the door, $5 for unlimited gaming.
Is furry-gear welcome? (Badges, ears, tails, etc) OF COURSE!

Millennium Park Fursuiting - 12/7/13
Posted 10 years agoNAME OF EVENT: Millennium Park Fursuiting - 12/7/13
DATE: Saturday, December 7th
TIME: From 2:00 to 5-6-ish
WHAT IS IT?: We're going fursuiting in Millennium Park (Chicago) and the surrounding area for a few hours, before the bowling meet later that night! Furry gear (ears/tails/etc.) is welcome, too, if you don't have a fursuit.
FURSUITERS: Fursuiters can meet up around 2:00 near the SE lobby on Level TWO of the Millennium Park Parking Garage. (It can be a little tricky to find- follow the signs for "Segway tours" and you'll make it there!)
If you're late, the parking garage is still a good place to suit up- it's pretty vacant so there's little chance of "ruining the magic"! Hopefully, we'll be able to head out by 2:30.
WHERE TO FIND US: If you arrive before 2:30, there's a staircase on the corner of Monroe St. and Columbus Dr. that leads right to the lobby, where the fursuiters will be getting ready (we'd appreciate it if some handlers could meet us there).
COST: The parking garage costs around $25 (thanks, Chicago). Otherwise, it's absolutely free!
Contact Dittman Rat AKA dyandod for any questions or concerns!

Two bowling meets in October.
Posted 10 years agoIt's that time of the month again! No, not that time, I mean it's bowling time!!! LAFF Bowling will be this Saturday, October 5th and the 19th! :)
*** Remember the 19th will be that wonderful time of the year to go to the Zoo and hug little children and have loads of fun in suit! Yes Oct 19th is Boo at the Zoo!**
Great news! Since the Tivoli loves us so much they are offered to have us there twice
a month! We have been trying out having two meets a month! The alley as of late has said the bowling attendance of the first meet is thin and might cut out the first weekend one for the rest of the year. Please remember that there is one! Also the Patio stated that if we COULD head to the Patio for a little later time, that we could start coming twice a month. This is not definite yet, because we need your feedback.

Furry Corn Maze Meet! (WI/IL)
Posted 10 years agohttp://www.richardsonadventurefarm.com
Who: Event is organized by , let her know if you are planning to come!
What: A huge corn maze in WI which has a lot of things to do! We will be jumping like morons on the gigantic jumping pillows then doing the maze (likely when it's dark with flashlights) and having smores at a campsite if there is one available- they are all reserved already online. If we cant get a fire there we can make one at my house instead!
No fursuits please, we don't want anyone getting lost and overheating in the middle of a cornfield without water.
What they have there:
World's Largest Corn Maze
700' Zip Line, 50' Observation Tower
ORBiting! (Ride Inside a Giant, 11' Ball)
Live Pig Races, Jumping Pillows
Giant Slides, Pedal Carts, Wagon Rides
Pumpkin Patch
Picnic Areas and Campfires
Crash space: I will need to know who will need crash space that night as well, I live about 17 minutes from the maze.I have 2 beds and a couch upstairs but we will need to get air mattresses if I have more people coming over like last time. I also have a 8 person tent that is 13x6 feet with a divider in the middle and 2 doors that I am more than willing to set up for people to use as well! Last time we had 8 people over and it was a little crowded using only my bedroom so the tent will work out well I think!
So far (can go home if needed) are staying that night.

Why- It's very fun to figure out the maze and get all the punches on the cards! The jumping pillows are basically a trampoline as big as a pool so we will be spending a lot of time on those. Any other activities cost an additional fee there.

Furry Ren Faire Meet! (WI/IL) August 4th

Address: 12550 120th Ave., Kenosha, WI 53142
Phone: 847-395-7773
Approximate Travel Times:
Milwaukee: 30 Min., Chicago: 50 min., Madison: 2 hr. 15 min.
When- 4th of August, on Sunday!
Why- It's very fun suiting there and you get tons of pictures! You can also get to shop for cool things and hang out with furries :3
The Bristol Renaissance Faire is an annual fair that lasts from the 4th of July to Labor Day Weekend, and has the distinction of being meant to reenact the period for which it is named. Think knights, dragons, swords, and other fantastical things- such an environment is perfect for us to join in! Fursuits, tails, ears, and other furry attire is welcomed (having a friend or spotter is recommended, temperatures are high and the dusty terrain is a bit tricky). There are games, food, rides, wares, and entertainment galore for all to enjoy and revel in- crossbows, turkey legs, tempura, cheese fritters, steampunk memorabilia, tails and stages fights are all staples here.
Admission:
$19.75 for Adults
$9.50 for Kids age 5-12
Slightly less online about $17.95 also at Walgreens (Walgreens means you don't need to wait in line for the tickets)!
Parking is $5
The meet will last from 10:00 AM (opening time) to 7:00 PM (closing time,) with a slot between 10-11 for everyone to meet up at the front gate. We will also be having a post meet dinner that we will decide upon during our time there if you plan to attend that as well.
If you have any questions or comments send me a message here or in a note and I'll be happy to answer you! We hope to see you there, I know it's short notice but I just found out it about myself and I'm helping spread word!

Millennium Park Fursuiting August 3rd
Posted 10 years agoNAME OF EVENT: Millennium Park Fursuiting - 8/3/13
DATE: Saturday, August 3rd
TIME: From 2:00 to 6:00 (you don't have to stay the whole time, but this means if people are late, they can still join in!)
WHAT IS IT?: We're going fursuiting in Millennium Park and the surrounding area for a few hours! (Furry gear (ears/tails/etc.) is welcome, too, if you don't have a fursuit)
FURSUITERS: Fursuiters can meet up around 2:00 near the SE lobby on LEVEL *TWO* (NOT three!) of the Millennium Park Parking Garage (underground). If you're late, the parking garage is still a good place to suit up- it's pretty vacant so there's little chance of "ruining the magic" when you suit up! Hopefully, we'll be able to head out by 2:30.
WHERE TO FIND US: If you're coming after 2:30, we'll probably be checking out different parts of the park. If you can't find us easily, you can call/text me (Dyandod) at 224-600-8504. If you're coming before then, there's a staircase on the corner of Monroe St. and Columbus Dr. that leads right to the lobby, where the fursuiters will be getting ready (we'd appreciate it if some handlers could meet us there).
COST: The parking garage costs around $25. Otherwise, it's absolutely free!

Millennium Park Furmeet 7/13/13 *CANCELLED*
Posted 11 years agoMessage from:
Unfortunately, I've had to cancel this weekend's meet in Millennium Park, due to a large festival that's going on at the same time (Taste of Chicago). There is a possibility that it will be rescheduled for later this month, but most likely, the next meet will be in August.
If people really want to have a meet, please tell me here, and I'll see what I can do. The only problem is, I will not be able to attend any a meet on any other Saturday this month.

Millennium Park Fursuiting - 7/13
Posted 10 years agoMillennium Park Fursuiting - 7/13
Run by dyandod
DATE:
Saturday, July 13
TIME:
From 2:00 to 6:00 (you don't have to stay the whole time, but this means if people are late, they can still join in!)
WHAT IS IT?:
We're going fursuiting in Millennium Park and the surrounding area for a few hours! (Furry gear (ears/tails/etc.) is welcome, too, if you don't have a fursuit)
FURSUITERS:
Fursuiters can meet up around 2:00 near the SE lobby on LEVEL *TWO* (NOT three!) of the Millennium Park Parking Garage (underground). If you're late, the parking garage is still a good place to suit up- it's pretty vacant so there's little chance of "ruining the magic" when you suit up! Hopefully, we'll be able to head out by 2:30.
WHERE TO FIND US:
If you're coming after 2:30, we'll probably be checking out different parts of the park.
COST:
The parking garage costs around $25. Otherwise, it's absolutely free!
Contact Dyandod to answer any questions!
I'm really excited about this event, and I hope to see you there!
