Three hours.
I've been at a snail's pace for three hours, careful not to let the giant out of my sight.
It hobbled along behind me, occasionally casting glances at the truck. Most of the time, it held a hand to its leg and kept its eyes down. All the while, I kept it at a reasonable distance. No point in letting this thing close to me...
Had I really hurt it that bad back in the city? I know I shot a rocket at it, but anything short of a mounted weapon wouldn't even scratch their armor. Hell, even having a building dropped on them isn't enough!
"At least you can still walk..."
I turned my eyes to the road and slowly went around a bend, only to see a chasm. A bridge that had connected the two parts had fallen in. Leaving a chasm far down into the mountains.
"One thing after another..."
Making sure the giant was still a bit away, I opened the door, slowly leaned my leg out, and eased myself down onto it. Using the doorframe as support, I stared out at the pit with a sigh.
"Zeta-Mobile is waiting on us... They won't wait more than a few hours... Dammit... I don't have time for this!"
Hitting the doorframe, I grit my teeth before returning my attention to the giant. It took small movements to get closer, slowly leaning down to get on its hands and knees. Its red eyes flickered between the truck and the chasm, and soon it reached a hand over to the truck curiously.
"H-Hey! No!"
The thing squeaked out sharply, darting its hand back before gesturing to the broken bridge. It 'smiled' and soon crawled over, gradually sitting down before it slid into the chasm. It easily was a twenty feet drop, but that's nothing for a giant...
Once again, the thing was oddly scared of me. It backed off the moment I shouted out at it. I watched the thing adjust for a few seconds before it looked at the truck. Waving my hand, I shook my head and groaned.
"I'll need to back up and find another way."
The giant tried to smile again, yet as its hand loomed abruptly over my blood ran ice-cold.
Fear got the better of me, and without thinking, I sat down in the driver's seat again. Staring at the giant while it examines the vehicle.
Taking hold of the steering wheel, I reached down to shift the truck into reverse...
"We should find another way; I can't cross that..."
I flashed a smile of my own, but not at the giant. It was stupid to think I was talking out loud to an alien. Of course, it couldn't understand me, but then again, neither do animals, and people talk to them all the time...
As I thought about this, the giant brought its hand under the side of the vehicle. Abruptly scooping under the truck and lifting it. The vehicle shook, and soon I honked the horn to get the giant to stop! But it continued, ferrying the truck across the gap before setting it down with a jolt on the other side.
I sat there, paralyzed and shaking just as the truck had in the thing's grip. The giant brought its head over, peeking in to glance at me... Slowly I tore one of my rigid hands off the steering wheel and jabbed a finger toward the side window, not daring to meet the thing's gaze.
"Don't do that again…."
It squeaked happily, seemingly unaware of what I'd just said. As the giant stood, I slowly pressed on the gas to have the truck go forwards. The thing was still too close for my liking, but I tried to humor the idea that this thing was trying to help.
After getting a comfortable distance away from it, I finally let out a sigh. My body was still trembling from the ordeal. The sudden lurch when it picked up the car was sickening. A split second later, the hair on my neck stood on end as I realized the giant could have thrown me down the cliff...
Glancing up to the rearview mirror, the giant was back to its usual pace. It still didn't make sense why this one was helping. At first, I wanted to thank my luck but stopped short when the thing looked at me. Snapping my attention back to the road, I inhaled deeply and gripped the steering wheel.
Either way... I am back on track for Zeta-Mobile and save for a little scare, none the worse.
A small smile crept up my face, and I stole a final glance at the giant.
"Thanks, I guess..."

Glad that Warren seems to finally be realizing that Alice is trying to help. And I'm excited to go back to Alice's point of view on the next part!
too late to reply 😅 but I would tell her not to grab it hard because she will damage and crush it ~~My inner car enthusiast is screaming in fear~~
Damn mouses micies, just picking up and putting down cars like they own the place
I can't wait to see how Warren explains to everyone she's on their side.
So true, I'm just glad that Warren didn't do the scene in the movie "Speed" where the bus jump over the unfinished bridge.
This one was cuter than it should have been, him finding trouble and Alice just trying to help and happy to do so. Even though him being stuck by the chasm would have been a little silly for her.
As for how Warren's seeing her, he's just being stubborn now. She's had dozens of chances to do whatever she pleased with him by now. If she wanted him hurt worse or dead or caught, she'd have done it. The fact that he doesn't want to acknowledge it is just him being paranoid and hard headed. Now Alice is just happy that her new friend is starting to understand.

Warren is thinking “Not the grab”, I’ve been grabbed to many times by giants. First her, then that lizard which broke my leg, and then her again. Lol
Next up on BottomGear, Alice yeets Warren in his truck to see if she can skip it like a rock on water
When you transfer back to Alice’s point of view next time will it go back and start where it left off or continue from here
This part made me chuckle with the "dont... Dont do that again" reaction XD
Finally showing a bit of appreciation. Hopefully that goes far enough to keep others from taking shots at her.
