Sad to say, Leo and Nigel are right about that. Unless one of them has the ability to move earth at a rapid rate, wasting hours digging graves for these bodies is more time for the Demon forces to advance on the remaining strongholds... And we do not know if the Taint left by the Demon forces may infect the land while they are buried.
It is better to just Burn the bodies and be done with it, less risk of contamination, since we do not know what the Taint of the Forces of Darkness wil do to either buried corpses or Corpses left to rot.

Nothing sad about it, just logical, and I agree with destroying the bodies since chaos can infect the dead, if I remember correctly.
Destroying the bodies is the best compromise. Chaos won’t desecrate the bodies and it is quick. Chili can probably set them on fire.

Make a pier, light it, burn them. Sends off the bodies and prevents the spread.. unless it can spread through ash...
Maybe autocorrect got you here, but you want pyre, not pier here.
Miralle's Green fire consumes the taint completely IIRC. They should probably use the green flame to burn the corpses for safety.
A quote from the film Eragon seems prudent here. When Eragon wanted to bury his father figure's body, but the mentor knows they don't have time, he throws a torch into the building and declares it "A funeral fit for a King."

I’m glad you mentioned the flams of life, because I had just remembered that a while ago.
Viktria mentioned at one point in the comments that Chili can't do that. I assume Miralle could though (I agree with the other comments about how burning the bodies seems prudent).
Agreed, Miralle’s flames of life will be most effective.
Burning the Bodys is a burial fit for Kings and Heros ... not even is it faster, in my eyes it also is a sign of respect. Dead might not care, but Ghosts and Souls do, calm them with a flaming sendoff and it won't even take to much time unlike digging graves.
Leo would have a much better point if he hadn’t decided to engage and waste time in the first place…
I suppose a knight must do their duty…
But it was also his duty to deliver that package for the tree…
What does a knight do when one duty conflicts with another?
When alone, a Knight would make their own decision.
But if a knight was part of a group, they would consult their leader.
Yes, that’s what Leo as a noble knight could do to solve this conflict of duties!
Follow the decision of the assigned leader!

But their leader has already contradicted herself in a handful of pages. It's only natural that one must take matters into their own hands when the one in charge is indecisive and incompetent.
Then when one decides the right course and leads them into more danger in favor of their huberis what happens to the party?
Leo needs to think critically and less like a meathead to handle the mission presented adequately. Heck, even when he came up to the podium, there were doubts from people in the crowd about his capabilities.

Why do you think I pointed out what Nigel said? Or why I said "Sadly"?
plain emotion im expieriencing , fury and sadness and the need of helping
man this comic is great

I'm more worried about that corrupted blood that's really close to their wounds, all over their body. they should probably wash that off immediately😅
Hot springs episode!
There's a desperate need for both washing and teambuilding here.

Whether you're a DnD 5e DM or Player, unless you're getting paid big to help bury the dead, it is a waste of time. Not to mention in times of war, wasting time digging means the enemy can sneak up on you, and due to so much digging you're exhausted now while having to fend for your life.
I don't agree with Leo's approach but I agree with his logic. It's better to move on or better yet burn the bodies, do a quick prayer and then leave. This isn't natural times with the undead lurking where they can infect the living.

Like it or not, he does have a point. One can't go on complaining about wasting time with a battle but then turn around and say they should dig graves all day for the dead.
Point or not he still a absolute disrespectful bastard who seriously just needs to drop dead and do this series an entire favor since he’s the one that started that mess against the leader’s orders and not even clean up his own mess.
He has no soul at this point.
He has no soul at this point.
Guy is thickheaded sure but there are times where you can't afford to be sentimental. Charging into that fight recklessly was a bad call true but on hindsight you don't want to worry about a group of stragglers behind your back the whole time.
It’s still his mess he caused. And as Sandlion points out. “ For all his grand standing claims about fighting and stopping chaos, and being a knight, he really doesn't care about the common folk. Once the fight was over and he fullfilled his desaire to prove himself, he couldn't care less about the death of those inocents. He doesn't care about their DIGNITY. They are dead, who cares? It's all the same if they are left on the road to rot and be eaten by scavengers, left as if they were trash on the side of the road, completly oblivious that their death is a tragedy and not some fault on them.”
He may have a point but he still a truly horrible self centered bastard that only gives a damn about himself. He’s better off dead with his corpse rotting on the side in an unmarked grave.

Oh don't misunderstand me, the guy is very much unlikeable. But I'm sure during the journey he starts to at least have a morsel of "humanity" in him. Either that or gets axed off by something bigger than him.
Ah but we're also dealing with some manner of corruption as well so what we really need is two piles, one of corrupted corpses that she can use her green fires on, and another of untainted corpses that can be lit on normal fire JUST IN CASE any of those bits of corruption laying around get the bright idea to go full undead or infect a plant that grows from the bodies, etc.
Oh my god this guy he the idiot who started it now he doesn't even want clean his own mess I can see they are on a mission but dang man how disrespectful to just leave them there and this guy is a knight
Love this story by the way X3💕

To be fair they should, at least, burn the bodies, to avoid the corrupting chaos can spread. Fire is a faster, but still dignified way to dispose of a corpse.
This page is great cause it shows Leo's character. For all his grand standing claims about fighting and stopping chaos, and being a knight, he really doesn't care about the common folk. Once the fight was over and he fullfilled his desaire to prove himself, he couldn't careless about the death of those inocents. He doesn't care about their DIGNITY. They are dead, who cares? It's all the same if they are left on the road to rot and be eaten by scavengers, left as if they were trash on the side of the road, completly oblivious that their death is a tragedy and not some fault on them.
Hit the nail on the head with this one. Every character here has their likable traits and their overt/covert flaws.
I have to say I'm on the boys' side. And not just because it's hypocritical to argue against killing actively murderous monsters while declaring that the dead "deserve better", but that latter point can be countered in itself. EVERYONE in this world deserves better than to live in fear of the monsters that mutate the bodies of the dead into zombified weapons to kill and mutate more still. But the world just doesn't work that way; there is no means to provide "better" for everyone. You have to be able to accept what is and isn't within your power to provide what's best for as many people as possible.
Although I agree with Leo and Nigel on the issue of dealing with the dead, there's still the issue that he should have acted a little better in the end, since the way the former looks in the last panel doesn't make him look good overall, regardless that he's still right about the matter.
Leo started this mess by charging in without anyone getting to discuss options, he darn well better learn taking time for respecting the fallen (clean-up yo Mess!) is the inevitable consequence! Bury the bodies, burn them, sea-burial, anything! -as long as you take ownership of your consequences!
From past experience (D&D) it's better to burn the bodies so they don't come back as zombies or as body part amalgamations.
Or just have Miralle set them ablaze. The fires may not cook edible meat, but since the bodies are tainted with corruption, the flames will cleanse the corpses.
That’s a thought. Would chaos tainted corpses spread more chaos?? Are they a hazard? Are they flammable?
Leo your insubordination is intolerable, and I wish the tree had given this team someone with enough assertiveness and authority to reliably slap you back down whenever you keep getting out of line like this!
Unless you KNOW there is a horde of those monsters coming in that general direction, you can take the time to bury the victims. It is only decent to do so.
Frankly as an opportunist and mercenary, I would check the bodies before doing anything else.

I play dnd a few times a week, and I can’t tell you how many times a scene like this plays out within our group! I’m really loving this story!
I'd just let them go and tell Luna we got separated. You're an ass you chose to be one
If Exxor were there, this would be the one time that he would begrudgingly agree with Leo and Nigel. They have a quest to embark on, and taking the time to bury the bodies could potentially cause unforeseen consequences down the line.
Unfortunately for Mira, here, Leadership doesn't mean you give the orders and everything is hunky dory. People follow the leaders that they respect or fear, and Leo holds neither for Mira. Leo also doesn't respect 'softness' in harsh times, nor does anyone respect hypocrisy.
